Equatorial mounts are the best in stability and performance. But for beginners, they are quite difficult to use and understand.

I would like to point out one error in this video that I hope you would correct. Around the 3:30 point, you show the Earth's rotation while explaining how the EQ mount keeps the object in view. However, you show the movement of the Declination axis instead of the Polar axis. Otherwise, it is a great video and I have shared it with others to help them understand how EQ mounts work.
Wow.... I have been searching for a video to explain these things, and I'm extremely thankful to have finally found one that broke everything down into a clear explanation. Even the pics of Proxima Centauri on the Wikipedia page helped as well. Thanks

Fatal error starting from 3:37, which rotates around the DEC axis instead of RA. Otherwise, this is a very good explanatory animation
Next time, please explain how to calibrate the RA bezel to a calibration target, and then go to the RA of the observation target.
Please can you help ? I have an Eq mount and I’m 6 degree north and 3 degree east , I live in Lagos Nigeria and when I set my tripod to 6 degrees or 3 degrees the weight isn’t high enough so my tripod leg obstructs it , I’m wondering was this part of the world in mind when they designed this ?
I use the argument that the concept and implementation of an Equatorial Mount totally destroys the Flat Earth theory. Am I right?

Yes. I have used this video to challenge a number of flat earthers and all they can do is flounder in defeat. One thing that flattens them (pardon the pun) is that all of the physical principles and functions of an EQ mount supports and describes a spherical earth. All aspects of it are supportive of each other. Flat earth superstations (I dare not call them theories. They are not.) do not have that critical feature. Of course, none of them abandoned their flat earth superstitions. I have had some make extended arguments but then I demand they back up their argument and with concrete demonstrable evidence that shows how it supports all their other claims. After a while they always disappear from the conversation.

@@merrillhess5626 What you mean like how it keeps the sun spots in a fixed size/position that in reality the sun spots move perspectively throughout the day? The changing position of the sun proves that the sun is circling above earth.

No, you are not on the pole.
You are very near to the equator.
Which mount do u have?
If your tripod legs obstructs it, then try to setup tripod in such a way that when you set it up, the counter weights goes between two legs of tripod.

I'm still confused...You state the polar axis is/stays parallel to the earths rotation axis and yet the animation shows in swinging to nonparallel

If you attach a camera for long exposure photography, do you only ever worry about polar alignment and disregard the other two? In discussions about using cameras on star trackers etc, they only seem to concentrate on polar alignment with no mention of right ascension or declination axis.
1:18 RA and DEC is kinda wrong in the first one
So the equatorial mount moves created the illusion that the earth is rotating. Got it. This is akin to the Foucault pendulum scam that needs a rotary to swing the pendulum.
the problem is the Earth doesn't rotate.
You have more problems than this video can fix.
