I’ve been gardening for 15+ years. I bought a hulahoe last month. Total game changer!! Makes weeding so much easier & quicker. My only regret is not getting one years ago.

Yes! HulaHoe!!! I have been a fan of this fantastic gardening tool since the 70's. But it is amazing how many people are completely unfamiliar with it (by ANY name!). Last year I had to buy a new one and I had to go all over town before I found one! Glad to see it getting some well deserved attention.

I wish I knew about this hoe years ago! No one ever talks about it. I’m always hesitant about buying garden tools. I have so many in the barn that I don’t use because they were a waste of money. But this tool, total opposite. I really love this hoe.

I definitely think it's better than hand pulling weeds! It still takes a little elbow grease.

If you really want to keep weeds out, get something like Landguard or Sandbaggy. You have made the ground ripe for infestation by weeds with that exposed dirt. I use double thickness (2 layers) of a weed barrier I got at Lowes after preparing the soil. You MUST have a barrier between the grass and the garden - I have about a foot of gravel. Make holes (for planting) in the cover and then enjoy yourself. My landscaping is about 1/2 acre so constant weeding is not an option. In parts where I know I will not plant I used plastic with smooth rocks to hold it down.
    Good luck.

Had mine for so long I can't remember where I bought it along with my manual edger. Spring clean it is a must with it and my Garden Weasel. I rake all the old mulch onto a tarp and put it in a garbage can for later. Pull up the old Cardboard and Depending on what I am planting later I use the Hula Hoe or the Garden Weasel, I add the plant food then I place The winter worth of cardboard on top and use the garden weasel to punch small holes in the cardboard. I anchor them in place with old wire hangers, I make a U shape 3" on each leg. I then add some black mulch die to the old mulch in the garbage can and mix it up by rolling it around a bit. Does not take much, I add new mulch if I need a better coverage. I don't like spraying chemicals either and the cardboard keeps the grass out for almost the entire season (north). I love the tool also when I change the beds shape, I have a board I use that is wide enough that I can cut the turf and use the Hula Hoe to strip up that grass down about 2" and then replant it where patches might be needed. Its an awesome tool.

Great advice on scraping up the mulch and reapplying cardboard!

I have one of these and it's great, definitely quicker than hand-pulling on your hands and knees. I also got a crack and crevice weeding tool for the stuff growing in between the concrete slab. You may want to consider using joint sealant to prevent that from happening, at least until it needs to be reapplied.

But when you pull you should be getting the roots. When you use the how you’re not getting the roots. Am I right?

The Hula hoe gets the roots too!
