- The Fallout TV show is filled with more plot holes, conveniences and contrivances than can be covered in a single video review. But today we're going to try anyway. Fans of Reaper and MauLer will enjoy.

My theory: Amazon just set a new precedent for astroturfing. Amazon learned its lesson from Rings of Power and didn't want to repeat the beating it got over that show.
I have never seen so many critics of a show botted into negative ratios, with hundreds of copy/paste comments all saying the same thing. Amazon has the money and the wherewithal to make this happen on UA-cam, so they did.
Now critical videos have returned to far more normal ratios because the bots have been switched off.
Come to think of it. There were a lot of people who either engaged the like/dislike in the first video but not this one. Some may have been bots where it wasn’t in the code to follow beyond one video. Others may have just walked away.
Shady Sands having fallen in 2277 retcons much of the established lore around New Vegas.
If you recall, 2277 is when the first battle for Hoover Dam took place, that saw Caesar's Legion decisively defeated, preventing them from rampaging across Vegas and the Mojave for the next 4 years. But if Shady Sands fell in 2277, that means the government of the NCR would be weakened, and unable to give the manpower and resources needed to ensure their victory there with all the crises that come from destroying where the government of a nation is established, like power vacuums. Caesar's Legion would curbstomp the NCR, drive them out of Nevada and claim New Vegas as their Rome, thus making the events of Fallout: New Vegas impossible.
They basically turned fallout into borderlands cringe nonsense.
What baffles me is the sheer hypocrisy and cowardice of critics, that usually call out hateful and stupid propaganda like this, suddenly turning a blind eye to follow the trend and simply get away with it.
The critical drinker, mentioned in the other video, proved to be a very good turncoat example that revealed himself to have no substance beyond the popular anti-feminism critics since the fallout show embodies everything he despised for years on his channel.
I was honestly surprised at the amount of negative comments from the other video. I think the series is objectively good but also feel like most people who are not bothered by these plot holes and lore directions haven't played new vegas or the originals, and don't know the amount of potential great stories they have just wasted by following this horrible direction. Bethesda hates the original games F1 F2 FNV and their creators they want to erase and destroy because Bethesda’s Fallout have bad writing and even they’re fans can’t even remember any good writing in their games it’s just wow this is very cool and the explanation is either bad or doesn’t make any sense and sometimes Bethesda even retcon their own games. They could have just hired the original creators and they would have made a profit but Todd and Emil’s ego can’t handle that they’re even involved with telling the Directors what to do.
I would agree with that until…. The fact that Bethesda cannot be consistent with their own original games like Elder Scrolls and the retcons on the climate which they pull from Morrowind into Oblivion. The Dark Brotherhood, The Provinces, etc. they succeed in twisting various elements of their own same fictional kingdom of Tamriel into something you would have trouble recognizing from the prior game. As someone who followed Elder Scrolls, Bethesda doesn’t even remain consistent with Bethesda. To their credit, they at least set Skyrim long after Oblivion, to maybe handwave changes over a long time.
Bethesda doesn’t hate the original games. Their love for said games were a big reason why they even brought the rights to the formerly niche IP in the first place.
Bethesda is just inconsistent and doesn’t understand the tone of the original games. They aren’t even consistent with their own games.

The ghoul needing this super medicine to stop himself from going feral is one of the stupidest retcons of this show. Previously, ghouls went feral because they soaked up too much radiation, resulting in literal brainrot. But now with this miracle product, the feralization process changed from the result of too much radiation, to something that just happens over time. And medicine this advanced is something that can only have been made before the great war. But ghouls didn't exist before the war. So, why does this medicine exist, and on a scale big enough that people just find it scattered around in the wasteland all willy nilly?

Honestly, there are so many things wrong with this show that the video could've easily run for hours, but we had to cut it somewhere eventually. You are correct about the miracle ghoul drug - it's another ridiculous retcon cheap plot device among the heap.

Thadd had his leg crashed, can't drive the suit. Also by the book soldier, does not take matters into his hands, instead will call in superiors and let them decide. That is what Thadd was shown as, opposite to Max..

Taking the power core out of the armour wasn't brave either it was just smart. He could have easily taken it out and then killed maximus but he didn't,did he?

That Prydwin ship? It's the one from the Commonwealth. You can even see the word 'Prydwin' across it in one shot. Can't remember if it was in Ep. 1 or 2, but it is there.
17:35 - This is the same set-up as Vault 0 from Fallout: Tactics. Makes it another retcon since Emil declared Fallout: Tactics is in canon again.
Pretty sure the Prydwin was blown up in 4 right...?

And also it doesn't mean the brotherhood ending is the canon one,because you can choose the minuteman ending and still keep the prydwen and the brotherhood alive.

The turrets are trash in the games, from what I have heard. I think it was a joke about it. Because they can’t hit a moving target and had to tell you to stay where you are to hit you, that’s hilarious to me.

I really can't argue with any of these points, lol. The power armor scene was the biggest cop out scene in the show. it made no sense at all. I get they were trying to be funny and make the other look like a loose cannon asshole, but it made no sense

I’m whatever on the show, but the Brotherhood of Steel had a point in the original games when you had a post-apocalyptic setting. After that, when society was regrowing, they had less of a point in their isolationist, hoarding, state. The greater society like the NCR was going to win for at least several reasons.

Watched the series but never played the games, always heard they use to be good but new ones just have awful rep, i enjoyed the show but I think that was more from the set dressing and world it played out in. Actual story as you point out is pretty shit which is crazy because some of the lore of fallout would have been amazing, i'd say maybe they'll correct the issues with plot holes and shit story in the second season but... yea Bethesda and amazon not exactly known for it :)

I don't usually like to defer to self serving tropes like 'they're all bots!', but something was definitely outside the norm with the reaction for that video. Synthetic Man largely reported the same.
That said, there were several hundred unsubscribes from that video, so a portion of the response was organic. That was my fault, of course. I used the Helldivers 2 hype to drive a lot of low quality people into the community, and that's 100% on me. Luckily they're slowly rotating out with these newer videos, so we can move forward with mature conversations.

Moldaver is not a communist, she owned her private companies, while Rose + Moldaver love story is not confirmed, just some people's head canons after saw the two briefly interacting..
Vault Tec wasn't confirmed dropping 1st nuke (Barb's kid was out when they dropped), they were only shown willing to do it if saw necessary..

you nor I can explain how a power armor suit was completely unable to damage a bear in a fist fight. He literally flung massive objects across the desert like it was nothing in it. But, Titus couldnt do a single bit of damage against the bear, but ole maximus one shot it to the head and killed it, lol. that didnt make any bit of sense. and then titus was mauled by the bear and injured by a rock with tempered armor on? the mod that increases damage resistance? come on man

Basically 1 HP at that point. "No single bit of damage"? I enjoyed the series and was positively supriced and definetly want to see more. It did have the 2020 quircks. But i didnt mind it too much. It wasnt that much in ur face. I enjoyed the main characters. And it felt like fallout 4 and i think its a good tging that they atleast got that vibe right.

Just because they disrespected the series lore, tone, and entire genre in multiple ways does not mean the rest of the series is not worthy of respect. It was never about such nonsense until Bethesda got their claws into it.
That is why I responded the way I did. That said, if you enjoyed yourself, I am glad for you. If you were not able to perceive the horribleness of the show, that is a blessing unto you.

@@BobSmith-kk4kp I respect your opinion. I wouldn't say I denigrated it, I contextualized, in my mind. It's no more fanciful than a side quest dialog tree. I've played every version, I know the universe but I'm not so beholden to cannon I can't let entertainment value play a role. It made the series accessible to a whole new generation and I think that's a net positive.
Some people make a religion out of these sorts of properties and I don't judge that but when we are dealing with a science fiction fantasy I think it's hypercritical to throw copious amounts of criticism to a production because it's not how they would have done. I think it's great people are invested, so write a script and pitch it or make it to create something new rather than tear down something that was made.

The positive reaction really is completely insane. If you actually know and appreciate the lore of the entire series, the show is an absolute catastrophe that breaks lore even for all of Bethesda's own Fallout games - even '76!
Put that aside, and pretend to be a normie: the writing is abysmal. The tone is all over the place, plot-holes and logic problems abound everywhere, it even contradicts itself in the same scene a few times.
And that dialogue! Just amazing, at times it is as though it was written by a lonely teenager who has never been allowed to interact with other humans in their lives.
The show is a dumpster fire of epic proportions, that just happens to be pretty to look at most of the time. The positive reception by normies is shocking, honestly. What an awful disaster of a show.
And yet it still streamed #1 on amazon for ages. Womp Womp. You're in the minority.

Vaults that were in highly populated areas were never discovered, including Vault 33 which was plainly visible on Venice Beach. If it were located here, The Master would have found it and cracked it like an egg, as his forces did with many other Vaults. Massive retcon and lore problem. The Master not only knew where the vaults were because of the intel he acquired, but 33 and 32 doors would have been very close to where he set up (and 33 was clearly visible on Venice Beach). So there is no way they would have plausibly escaped his notice in that local area. If they wanted to make that plausible, they would have put the Triple Vault very far from the L.A. area.
Oh yeah, Vault 4 is absurd as well, for most of the same reasons.
The bombs drop at the wrong time of day for the West coast, causing problems with every quest in the series that references this time properly. Every quest and piece of pre-war history that references this time is now out of sync. Every stopped clock in the wasteland now makes no sense, as they stopped at the same time hours *before* the bombs dropped. Massive retcon and lore conflict.
Gulpers were retconned, and are in the wrong place, far across the country. They were not created by lab experimentation, nor did they look like that. They should have just called finger-mouth something else. Like 'Finger-mouth'. Minor issue, but still noticeable, as well as pointless to have done.
Several changes to the power armor make no sense, even in comparison to recent Bethesda games, which is really saying something. They are claimed to have a 'weak weld' in the chest armor, but no manufactured power armor was ever welded - they are cast and fitted together, as is obvious from how they look. They also never had internal jets for flying, but rather a large pack that could be installed, at least in Fallout 4. The suits do not stay locked down when the power runs dry, trapping the user - this is incredibly stupid, as no one would design a system that way. It was clearly just done for plot convenience, to trap Max. Retcon.
Vault-Tec never started the war in any previous game, so this massively changes lore, and to make it worse, the show never mentions China in context of the Resource Wars, which are incredibly significant. Huge retcon.
The ghouls are utterly changed, and in many ways that contradict every single game in the series. Never before could non-feral ghouls be invincible to bullets more than any normal human. They also could never heal crushed bones or severed digits instantly, especially absent the massive gamma radiation necessary to boost their healing abilities. Also, they are inconsistent, as sometimes it takes a headshot, but other times ferals are shot in the shoulder and are killed instantly. There was also never a cure to stave off going feral (and it is implied this drug has been around for many years), nor was there ever a drug that could create a ghoul with a single dose. All retcons that conflict with lore.
They also retconned the relationships between all of the pre-war corporations, and indicated tight knit co-operation between all of them that never existed to that level in any of the games.
And to finish up, lets say you moved Shady Sands by almost 300 miles. That would totally retcon Fallout 1, 2, and to a more limited extent parts of New Vegas dialogue. That would be an insane thing to do!
Well, they did that, and far more - so if you think they did not change the lore massively in the show, that just means that you do not know any better. And that is fine, not everyone has to be a serious Fallout fan - but for those of us who are, it matters a great deal.
People pretend that they care about the changes, and want to know them - but the truth is, any actual Fallout fan would already be familiar with all of this. Only tourists who just played 4, or maybe 3 find the show to be 'great'. It is in fact a disaster for any OG Fallout fan.

Sure, the whole “we nuked each other because we ran out of oil”, is cliche as it gets in post-apocalyptic fiction as it’s the story of everything from “Threads” to “Mad Max” but it’s cliche because it works without bending over backwards or batting around the bush
The show has some of the worst writing, but the worst part is the lore they nuked.

It was never confirmed that the chinese were the ones who dropped the nukes. That was literally one of the biggest mysteries of the games. And even if it is stated in the games,it is not unlikely that vault tec framed it on the chinese as a cover-up.@@deadshotkiller5899
Only played fo4 (didn't really like it) so I don't get a lot of your criticism on the show breaking the lore. Only finished 1.5 episode before finding the show incoherent and boring, but was gaslighted by everyone to think otherwise. Sick vid Ermz.
Definitely give Fallout, F2, and NV a shot, those games in the franchise are whats mostly getting retconned by the show.

That said, there is nothing 'redundant' about calling out the Marxist disease as it attempts to subvert another cultural property. I came to the west because I love the western model, which includes meritocracy and social mobility. Not superficial representation checklists and redistribution to the least productive members of society. I don't want to see this culture turn into the same communist hell that I barely escaped with my life decades ago.

If anything, Google Ads lets you do exactly that on UA-cam, it’s done all the time to let people know a certain video or channel exists. It’s very normal. If no one ever leaves Vault 33, and when Lucy leaves there are clear signs someone is in fact leaving: How did Rose take her two kids out of the vault without anyone noticing? And how did Hank then leave, get the kids back and return to the vault, all without anyone noticing?
In an early scene at the Brotherhood barracks someone is seen masturbating, and everyone else is casual as though it happens every day (and it probably does, lets be honest). Maximus late in the series appears to not know how male human sexuality functions, which makes no sense at all, considering his decade plus of time with the Brotherhood.
Why did the sophisticated Enclave mini-gun turret miss the Doctor at nearly point blank range even though he was shuffling quite slowly? These would not be of use against a real hazard if they could not hit a slow moving older man.
Why is there a mystery about the Vault 31 in Vault 33, when people know that all their leaders come from there, and they literally sing a song about electing the next leader from Vault 31? How was it suspicious that all their leaders come from there, if they have been singing that song long enough that everyone knows the lyrics?
Why did everyone in Vault 32 kill each other and themselves when they found out that Vault 31 has cryofrozen Vault-Tec people? They presumably loved their Vault just like their friends in Vault 33, and thus probably thought highly of Vault-Tec. Are we to believe that when they found out they were to be trained to conquer the wasteland, they all lost it and killed each other and themselves? Why did they not just seek help from 33, or leave by the outside vault door that Moldaver came in through?
Why do the Vault 33 people get to see the Vault 32 people every few years, but have *never* seen anyone from Vault 31 except their 'elected leaders' (and Stephanie Harper for some reason), and not at all find that suspicious or at least weird?
Why was Stephanie Harper unfrozen in 31 to join 33, when she is shown turning wrenches with Lucy instead of having a leadership role like the others from Vault 31?
Why is the one guardian of Vault 31 a Roomba that can be defeated by janitorial equipment, when large articulated robots are common household appliances? Vault-Tec could surely afford far better than this pathetic thing.
How did Moldaver survive 200+ years? Why is this not explained? If she were still alive, I would assume it would be answered in Season 2, but well... it seems less pressing for the writers to answer once she is gone, so it seems very much like an oversight.
Why did Moldaver go through Vault 32 to get to 33, when she could have just gone directly to 33? After all, that is where her objective was (and she knew that, as she had met him). She also had Roses Pip-Boy, which was from Vault 33, and would have granted easy access. She could not have known the denizens were all dead, so doing it this way made little sense.
Why did Moldaver raid Vault 33 and thus risk killing the target (Dad) as well as Lucy, Roses daughter. Rose was her dear friend, if we are to believe her. She also could have used Lucy as leverage against Hank.
Why did Moldaver kill a bunch of people at Vault 33, then threaten either Lucy or the remaining Vault dwellers, make Dad choose between them, and then just leave instead of killing any of them? She had already caused the death of so many innocents, what would a few more have mattered?
Why did Lucy's new husband try to kill her, when the goal was to capture her Dad and presumably spare her (or use her as leverage against Hank), as she was the daughter of Moldavers dear friend?
Why did Moldaver trust a bunch of random wasters that she paid to get the Doctor to her from Filly, when she already had her raiders with her? She could have just escorted him herself to make sure he made it by just waiting a few hours - they were right there.
Why did the Ghoul not know his own 'shoot the welding defect' trick when he was fighting Maximus? He shoots at him many times, yet later can take out the same power armor with a single shot. Also, it should be noted that power armor is not welded together, it is cast and fitted.
Insane Coincidence: Escaped doctor and doggo run into Lucy in Los Angeles. Pretty big place, a bit too convenient maybe?
Who are the ''six agencies'' looking for the escaped scientist? Who else knows of him? The Enclave would never hire random mercs to do find him. Maldaver already has her own contact. The BoS is sending their own knights. Who else was aware of that?
Vault 4 would not have happened if they actually talked like normal people. The overseer has no reason whatsoever to not tell what happened and why he has one eye, something Maximus and Lucy are clearly disrupted by. The entire Vault 4 plot would be skipped if that happened, and nothing in the series would have changed.
How lucky is Maldaver that Hank, an executive assistant, remembered the code of a technology Vault Tec literally discarded or locked away, and for which his boss would have been responsible to purchase, not him. Hank has no reason to remember the code or care. Vault Tec did not put cold fusion in their vault, nor anywhere ever. They didn't care for it. Why does he know the code, why does he care to know it?
There is a lot more of the genius level writing, but I think that is enough for now. I hope these writers keep getting work, we need far more of this quality and consistency in our shows!

With the absolute garbage we've been getting recently as far as adaptations go, I was just happy to get a somewhat decently correct representation of the game world.
