I honestly didn't expect this kind of content from what i thought was a Helldivers 2 focused channel, god knows i watch many other channels that specifically deal with this kind of (sometimes depressing) stuff.
It is nonetheless, appreciated.
On my part i see this all the time, minor gaming channels in the past 1-2 month suddenly switched content to culture war. :D

In short it's the lack of accountability for a failed "idea". This is something present in every industry at this point , management makes a change that affects countless lives usually in the negative.
And consultants usually are hired just to give ideas but most of the time they change the course of a project completely like in more recent video games, and when it fails they are not held accountable, they took their paycheck and left free to spread nonsense while honest hardworking people like us suffer for this poor leadership.
Remember, consultants like Sweetbaby should be held accountable whenever a project fails and a studios is closed because of following those imposed ideas regardless of how much they claim otherwise. Accountability is important, the little people who deliver the end product shouldn't lose their job while consultants keep theirs and get away scot free for poor "consulting".
The Woke "idea" is just those "other gendered" people who think we the vast majority hate them when in fact we don't, we accept their existence and that's it, or atleast it was until around 2015 when this nonsense started to take shape and being a straight person is suddenly a crime unless we adhere to the "new rules" just so these people feel accepted while excluding every single person who is not like them, making simple things like communication very hard to achieve. They choose to hide problems like mental illness, obesity and when it come to jobs favoritism without proven qualification by invoking unproven arguments that politics in some places will support because money over reason. The Woke can't even decide if they are male or female they choose to be what they cannot which speaks volumes about their current state.
yes i first saw it in the light with blizzard the ceo failed and should been booted with nothing to his name but he left with more money than the company made in a year, then you find groups in the company that never see punishment for their poor leadership and driving companies they work with off a cliff like the ceo of EA getting hired in others even tho he failed at keeping the company floating just quick cash.

So if there is a group of 80 men but only 10 women the gender of the group would still be masculine.

I'm perfectly fine with more diversity in games and media where it makes sense and doesn't subtract from the experience. The experience like a historical fiction like Assassin's Creed having a black guy could have been fine or at the very least significantly less controversial... provided the character was well written in every other aspect that actually mattered... the race of the character being bizarre for the setting is a negative, but a negligible one. However, we have had so many games and media for years now pushing diversity and "wokeness" that the latest Assassin's Creed in just a needle in a very sore wound... and the backlash is magnified because of it. The Warhammer also shouldn't have been that big of an issue provided that instead of trying to gaslight the community they just admit they're changing the lore.
It seems lately in so much games, movies, and shows, I see someone who portrays at least one or more of the common "wokeness" qualities, whether its race, gender, sexuality... as long as it's not a straight white male... and then if there is a straight white male, we NEED to ridicule them, we NEED to overshadow them, we NEED to write this person as superior to them and not even equal in any way... it doesn't matter if it's Indiana Jones, or David Tenant in Dr. Who, Geralt from the Witcher, etc.... we need this character to be better than that other character that was well written and established with fans that love their character.... and the only way we know how to do that is to gaslight, force the previous character to suck now, or just write that this new person is better without any struggles or development at all....
Not every game that has "wokeness" is bad... Hogwarts legacy had the trans bartender, she was identifiable as trans but acted like a normal person who respected people around her and only asked for the same in return; she was a good character, didn't detract from my experience, it was believable and she was well written. Baldur's Gate 3 all of the characters are bi-sexual, so you can just play out whatever fantasy you want no matter who you are... it's just more options and it didn't limit your already existing ones in any way.... like there's good ways to write these things into the story; and surprise surprise, most of the time it's extremely subtle and non-important... if a character in a game is gay it should be like an "ok, cool" moment, not a... "this is his entire personality now" moment... because normal people can just be gay and not have it be their entire life story.

Yasuke was straight up mentioned in both Portuguese missionary and Japanese historic documents and memoirs as a black man, from Africa, which is not surprising considering both the fact Portuguese missionaries actively proselytized in both Africa and Japan, for a time even having exclusive presence as only Europeans visiting the later, and that it's historically not rare for new converts to then join up on missionary journeys themselves to proselytise further - hell, he's the first historically recorded African to reach Japan, and many including Oda Nabunaga himself wanted to see him specifically because because they never seen a black man before. And it makes perfect sense to have someone well-traveled for a series that concerns ancient global conspiracies. Seriously people, friendly advice, you need to touch grass.

I question how Yasuke didn’t have a place in Japanese history. He was literally Oda Nobunaga’s personal bodyguard who was given command over his personal guard and there’s documented history to prove that. He definitely was a novelty being larger/stronger the must Japanese people at the time and a foreigner with position, but that doesn’t change his station.
While I can almost agree with how drastic representation has gotten, the bitter truth is, there has never been accurate representation at any point in American history. The last samurai was white, the last of the Mohicans had white main characters, Egyptian movies with no black people, white people playing Native American’s in a lot of westerns, adult white people learning foreign teaching and suddenly becoming better then the people who practice it their entire lives, white actors playing roles that aren’t white people …etc etc.
I’m aware that fact shouldn’t break preexisting lore in warhammers’ case or preexisting concepts like superheroes (which are definitely not inclusive in the slightest bit or completely stereotypical in its race representation, which some notable exceptions), but adding more options in character creators or background npc’s doesn’t hurt anyone except the super sensitive. I don’t see how including people who truly exist in video games, movies, books, or whatever else is “intrusive” to the experience. Makes far more sense than only one race being represented in a post apocalyptic world scenario or what have you. I can understand that complaint when it comes to be force fed ideologies, religion, and sexual preferences because what does those things have to do with a story unless the narrative organically includes them (something America has done a poor job of for decades).
Here goes some questions for those who complain…are you doing so because it’s intrusive to your gaming experience or is it uncomfortable to your place in the world view? Is it “intrusive” to those who complain when they see a person of different nationality when you go to the grocery store or the work place? If that’s the case, your issue isn’t with inclusion, it’s rooted in a far darker place. The topic itself is treading dangerously close to centuries old belief system that’s sole purpose was exclusion. No fingers pointed, just presenting a different take in the hopes of actual dialogue.
(Sarcasm here) he isn't part of Japanese history because he a minority and we hate those... but things like the last samurai oh that's perfectly fine because it just shows how great we are and how we can be better than others in a few days verses years...
It's because a black samurai is not in any way an accurate reflection of Japan's history. It may have happened one time, but we're talking about one in a million here. In the grand scheme of samurais in Japanese history, his very short blip of existence is not worthy of consideration at all. If you're going to be making games about samurai, then it should be a Japanese person, not some foreigner who was an insignificant person in Japan's history.
@opusd how is he not reflective of Japanese history when he is literal part of Japanese history... also he served one of the most important shoguns of Japanese oda nobunaga, also know as the who unified japan. What and who you believe is important is subjective. Because I find it very important, because oda nobunaga was known to be very progressive for his time, he knew he was taking a risk by making yasuke a samurai and his head of bodyguard. But he most likely did it in addition of trying to get his people to be more accepting ( if you read the records it's his progressive mindset that got him killed) but it's important because it can show the first steps of japan trying not to be a racist xenophobic country... but that is lost to yall because most of yall wish to have a xenophobic homogeneous country...

If you wanted to show Japanese culture from medieval times, would picking a black person be accurate? It's not especially with a country like Japan that was very conservative. You can take the problem the other way around. If you made a game based on medieval Senegal, would you choose an Asian as a main character. Sure there might have been a couple Asians back then, but is it truly a good representation of Japanese culture at that time? That's the whole problem, for the sake of minority representation, they are not representing the people of the country they are showing. Worst thing is, I think Yasuke looks cool, and I LOVE Nagoryiuki from strive, but it makes no sense to have Yasuke as the main character of this game, the only reason why they put him is not for who Yasuke actually was anyway, as they distorted who he really was in history, he was just their excuse to do wokism.

As many examples of forced interaction with this trend as there are, you chose Yasuke? The game is a work of fiction that uses a historical figure. So what? Did they change Yasuke to a lesbian Russian? Are they forcing you to rewrite an existing character that has been established to be one way into something radically different? They're taking a lesser known character and using fiction to make it into something memorable. Once the game comes out, we'll see if that is a positive or negative memory.
Why didn't you choose when they changed the races, sexes, and other fundamentals of Marvel characters to fit an agenda instead of writing compelling characters that you enjoy seeing in your media? People enjoy Miles Morales, not because he ticks a box, but because of the characterization brought to the table. People like Ellen Ripley, not because she ticks a box, but because of the characterization and seeing her overcome impossible odds.
I don't know anyone that put Metroid games down once Samus took her helmet off and found she is a woman. Use examples like when Marvel wrote the She-Hulk show, and changed the character to fit a "men are stupid and incapable, down with the patriarchy" story no one liked. Use when they did the Netflix He-man, and made it about Tayla and Evil-Lyn being Mary Sue's. Let's not even mention the recent Star Wars trilogy that no one makes games or stories set in. HBO's Velma show...
I think you chose poor examples, and all you're doing is engaging in stirring up contention in what will be a fad that passes with time due to no one enjoying the attempts at being inclusive that business pushes on people. As those with talent introduce compelling characters that are written well, the joy that inclusion can bring will feel far more natural, and only bigots will be left to cry "woke."
Rally people into supporting the stories they enjoy rather than inciting anger over ones they don't.

Here is the issue. Assassins creed of old fully respect historical context before it made its story, yes there were historical figures and places, but their context was not changed for the story. Leonardo de Vinci was in the first assassins creed but his context was not changed (he still was presented as an inventor and a painter during the renaissance) y yasuke and the other female character of this assasins creed have had their historical context changed to make them fit into the story instead of the other way around. You only play as fictional characters based in history not the other way around, that’s why this is bad.

AC has never been a pure historical accurate game, do we all forget about George Washington becoming a tyrant... 2. While yasuke most likely didn't have political agency he was more than just a "curiosity" to Oda nobunaga, if you actually read the historical accounts of Ōta Gyūichi it gives the more context that yasuke and oda nobunaga had respectable relationship, employer/boss. But it's sad to see you believe using a historical person in a game is to cause division. I think the truth is you and the rest are very focused on race, and want certain demographics to go back to being barely seen and never heard.
