'Castlevania: The NES Trilogy' RETROSPECTIVE - Scream Sequence.

- Castlevania is one of the most famous video game franchises of all time. From vampires to vampire killers, from daring heroes to horrifying monsters, from 8 bits to 16 and everywhere in between, this series has been sending chills down our spines for nearly 40 years. On today’s episode of SCREAM SEQUENCE, I’m going to sink my teeth into the original Castlevania trilogy. That’s the first 3 entires in the series spanning from 1986 to 1990, all exclusive to the Nintendo Entertainment System. This franchise is not only home to some of the earliest memories of my entire life, but is, in large part, responsible for this channel existing in the first place. I can’t wait to tell you these stories.
(Season 1, Episode 4)

The opening music is just making me think about the legend that is Fred Fuchs
😂
Hahahaha
I cannot agree with you more, Castlevania 3 was so influential to me that at the young age of 11 I looked at my parents and I said I'll have a son and I will name him Trevor. And at the age of 29, nearly 15 years ago, I kept that promise that an 11 year old boy made and I welcomed my son Trevor into the world.
Shout out to you and Trevor, my dude! Hell yea!
I always said if I had a kid I would make his middle name alucard which as you know is dracula backwards.
@@616Entertainment He does silly videos and some Minecraft/Kirby stuff on UA-cam, despite his "Heritage" he can't get into Castlevania... yet. www.youtube.com/@traynestorm5526
Hey I have the same, mine is Trevor Grant
@@noneyabisness414 Trevor Forever!
Dude your channel is criminally underrated.
Love how comprehensive everything is, and peppering in the personal stories is just the icing on the cake.
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I work as hard as I can to grow my channel and my Patreon, it's harder than you'd think, lol. I appreciate the kind words.
Without The AVGN, I wouldn't have known about your channel. One day I was watching his review on MK 1 and I got a recommendation for your History of MK.
Happy to be in the same conversation.
That's exactly how I discovered 616, too.
You BELONG in the same conversation, dude!
@@thisisnotachannel wow! That's awesome!
Easily my favourite UA-cam channel
I appreciate the support.
Ian, you hit too close to home here bro. AVGN 103 is one of my favorite AVGN videos and I whole heartedly agree that it's the content creating bible. You know what I'm working on right now and I've been using AVGN 103 as my guide. The sleep thing is a close one for me too. Every night I get into bed I set a 30 minute timer and queue up an AVGN season or one of your retrospective movies. It's an annual Halloween tradition for me to watch the AVGN Casltevania retrospective. It's so fucking good, and so is this one dude. You should be proud and I'm glad you decided to do this video. Congrats man. I'm proud of you.
I really appreciate the support, brudda. And I'm proud of YOU for doing what you're doing, too! There's nothing like creating something, man. There's nothing like it. Keep me in the loop!
Love your videos dude and liked the work in you did for the "miserable pile of secrets." Good stuff! I appreciate the odd spin off games like Adventure of Link and Simons Quest. I'm a bit older than you and also grew up playing these games. I've always been into horror and I remember playing Simons Quest when I was about 6 or 7 and entering the first mansion to get body part of Dracula. The "Dwelling of Doom" song kicked in and it scared the hell out of me. Ending up having nightmares but still woke up and played the game right away the next day. I was hooked! Never did beat it, but I received the collection on the Switch as a Xmas gift and plan on finally conquering this beast!
Would love to see you cover the RE4 remake sometime. Take care and keep up the good work my dude!
Conquer it, do it!
Here is my Simon's Quest story. Which is my favorite game of the OG trilogy. I was in 3rd grade when I was playing this game. My best friend at the time Russell and I were obsessed with finishing this game. If I'm being honest, I'm sure we got help from Nintendo Power and the playground. I moved to a different town about 30 min away from my friend. He would still come and spend the night and we still would just play Simon's Quest. One weekend we got further than we ever had before. So I left my NES on. By that Wednesday I made it to Dracula. I was so excited, I called my friend and told him I was gonna keep it paused until he could come over. His dad was so cool, he brought him over right then because he knew how much we had been working on it. When he got there I beat Dracula, we cheered and he went home. Hahaha Still such a great memory, thanks for asking for our Simon's Quest stories. I've been smiling this whole time.
Duuuuude this is amazing. That's a fantastic memory.
Hell to the yes. Good morning all. Great way to start the day.
Hope it lived up!
@@616Entertainment absolutely did. Love these episodes.
Your retrospectives continue to blow my mind, Ian. Hearing all of your beautiful childhood stories and hearing everything that has made you the man you are today, legit gave me goosebumps and nearly made me shed some tears, cause it’s your style of telling stories that has inspired me to be who I am today. Nostalgia as a whole, means a lot to me, and whether stuff is good or bad, what matters is that you are entertained and happy, right? So I just want to say, thank you once again, for another banger video, Ian, and I hope to try the original CastleVania trilogy one day, when I get the chance. I love you and all the DanDans, and I hope to see you again soon😊👍.
Thanks for watching as always, my dude.
You've never taken an audio engineering class? As an audio engineer, I'm extremely impressed by the quality of your audio.
Thank you. People have gotten on me (rightfully so sometimes, admittedly) about my levels. I’ve tried to be more even as the years have gone on.
We definitely need a full castlevania history of series. Its one of my favorite franchises. I was lucky to find a copy of symphony of the night at a thrift store a few years ago and have been a fan ever since. Absolutely loved the anime and cant wait for the sequel series thats coming up
No plans for a full History Of, I haven't even played them all! But that's alright. This was a blast, and maybe I can do IV, Bloodlines & Symphony some day, you never know. Dude, you found SOTN at a thrift store? Incredible find.
I’m a big horror guy so I appreciate this series. I never played any of that Castlevania games but I enjoyed the Netflix animated series. It’s awesome in general hearing you talk highly about one of your favorite games that helped create your channel.
Thanks for watching despite never experiencing the games yourself, I appreciate it. More to come.
Epic, epic video as always, Ian! I've beaten all three of the NES Castlevania games multiple times, but I have to admit a fondness for Simon's Quest. It was the first Castlevania game I beat, and one that my neighborhood friends and I all worked at to hack away at the design elements, figure out where to go and what to do, and how to accomplish what the game wanted us to. We devoted an entire summer to playing that game, literally exploring it top to bottom, throwing holy water at every single freaking floor and wall to find all the secrets. Outside of actual RPGs like Dragon Warrior IV or Final Fantasy, it was the most time any of us spent trying to pixel-hunt every nook and cranny of an 8-bit game, and we took that sucker apart level by level, screen by screen, day by day, until we came out on top.
The original Castlevania and Dracula's Curse are top-tier games in their own right, but I've never poured more energy into hive-minding my way through a game than my friends and I did with Simon's Quest. Thanks so much for bringing back the awesome memories of my childhood yet again, and sharing yours in the meantime.
Tremendous stories, I love this. Thank you for sharing and for watching!
Oh wow! Been a fan of this channel for years since the early Smackdown Retrospectives. Coincidentally I came across the Cinemassacre channel just this past week and the first thing I thought was hey this is kinda similar to 616's retrospectives. Just the style it's shot in and delivery of the episodes. Now to learn that this channel drew inspiration from Cinemassacre is pretty cool.
That's a high compliment, thanks man.
Duuuuude! I'm so hyped! I love your retrospectives and have just been watching another Castlevania series, so I'm primed for this.
Just got to the part where you talk about falling asleep to the videos or playing while doing things. This is me. I must have gone through the MK and Smackdown videos 20-30 times a piece.
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. Plenty more to come!
Great retrospective as always im always learning something new about games even if I never played the games u done these retrospectives on
Thanks Javier!
Another winner, thanks Ian for your continued fantastic content 🤟
Thanks man, more to come.
Being 2 months younger than you, your channel is a major nostalgia trip every time I check out a video. Great work my friend
So psyched for this series!
Scream Sequence? This is Episode 4!
Knew you would cover Castlevania one day, and you're doing a damn good job as always man
Thanks Steve, I appreciate it.
Appreciate your hard work. Always quality.
Excellent in depth video as always! Your channel is very underrated man
Thanks for watching, plenty more to come.
Great job, bro. So much nostalgia.
Thanks man. More to come.
Hands down, you are in my upper echelon of UA-camrs I subscribe to. You work genuinely helps me when I'm at my lowest with my Bi-Polar. The Resi series in particular!
You have a fantastic channel, and I hope you know just how amazing you are!
Thanks for watching, man. I'm glad I can lend a little something when the going gets tough.
Wow, you finally covered castlevania and you knocked it outta the park! You are so close to not only making but surpassing that 100k subscriber milestone! Can't wait to get that notification.
💪🔥
I'm trying, man. I'm trying. It's been an insanely long road to get there.
I saw this video on Friday night and it was awesome! Thank you Ian! 👍🏻I love the Castlevania franchise!
Thanks Andy!
Hey 616. Thank you for your videos. I truly enjoy them. Keep the good work.
Thanks man!
As I'm watching this your history of mortal kombat video is my favorite on the internet I've re watch it so so many time tbh your UA-cam channel and videos helped me through a really dark time in my life but the great work you do and I can relate to alot of your childhood memory's it's awesome keep up the good work man
Glad I could be a light in the dark times, brudda. I'm not going anywhere, so that light won't go out on you.
Hopefully this is the video to propel you to 100k subs and you get your long overdue plaque. I forget how many subs you had when I first found you but it wasn't many. Happy to say I was here from the near beginning.
I appreciate the support, man. I've been trying to hit 100,000 for years and years now, but we're nearly there.
This was great! Thank you! Edit: You’re really good at making awesome videos for having no prior experience 😎👍
Hahahaha, thanks man. Yea, totally self taught on everything.
You are an absolute legend Ian. Everything you make is gold. I was also dragged into these types of videos by the AVGN. However, when I found you, I found the best. Sure, it’s apples and oranges, because you guys produce very different kinds of content, but yours is truly something special. That personal touch you give each game is like a hug of nostalgia. The world is a better place because you are in it. Thank you!
Thanks Jared! Always an honor to be mentioned in the same sentence as James.
What a horrible night to have a curse!
Darn tootin'.
It's crazy how much I have in common with you. We are both massive video game table marks (I also championed Warzone for the same reason). Both of us got upset when games don't have champions wearing belts. AVGN and his Castlevania remembering is my favorite series of content he's done as well. It's crazy that I find your content so relatable. I'm an achievement hunter, you got to make a freaking trophy list. I think a lot of your viewers appreciate your honesty, and that's why you continue to grow. Keep up the good work as always man.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Doing my best!
Always good to see u show up in my notifications!! Keep up the hard work! The channel is always improving!
Woah UA-cam actually did its job for me for once? Hahahaha. Thanks for watching.
Great video Ian, love the history and background of how and why you started it all.
Your content always makes me want to try all these great games.
Thanks
Thanks man, more to come.
I enjoy watching and listening to your videos. You seem like a guy who would be someone I would hang out with and play games. Even the videos I have no ties to, like this one. I never played these games before. But listening to you talk about them and hearing your history with them. It feels like I played them back in the day.
Hell yea man, thanks for watching.
Yayyyy another juicy Retrospective to dive into!! I live for these. And Ian, don’t apologize for delving into your inspirations, backstory, etc. It’s gold. And if ppl complain about that, fuck em!!
Thanks Mick!
I remember summer of 1999 when I lived in Chicago, we got a PlayStation. It was on sale at FuncoLand for $99 I believe. My parents told me, my brother and sister that it was either that or an N64. Our first 2 games was Namco Museum Vol. 1 and Frogger. But that Christmas, man, that’s where it was at. I got Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and since my brother’s birthday was a couple of days before Christmas, he got Resident Evil Director’s Cut and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night. We were addicted to RE and Castlevania and tried to get all the endings for both games.
Dude, 2 of the greatest games ever made. Amazing.
It literally means the world to me that you made this. I love your content so much ❤❤❤ as a Castlevania veteran, my story with 2 was I beat it one night and got the bad ending with Simon dying and was brought to actual tears because that was my hero as a kid so I popped that bad boy back in my NES and went to work and got the good ending and felt so achieved lol I have beaten all 3 but the first game took me a year to beat and 3 took me 2 years, but all 3 on the original NES. You can do it man! You got the skill!
Hahahaha, thank you. Happy to hear you have really positive memories with this series.
Great to hear your insight on Castlevania, good job buddy!
Thanks for watching!
I really feel at home here. I also grew up with Castlevania on the NES since my early childhood. And the AVGN Castlevaniathon is also my favorite set of AVGN videos. I rewatch these at least once a year
And I can never get enough of Castlevania retrospectives, so don't worry you might accidentally repeat what has already been said 😊 Great work, man!
I'll always worry about accidental stealing, can't help it. It's why I don't watch any UA-camrs who cover the same things I do.
Awesome Video as Always Bro🤘💙
I love this series. The fact that you don’t just talk about the game. You talk about your experience and memories with the games. Dude, keep doing you man. Don’t change for anyone. 100 K subs coming soon. Just so you know i watch your videos Multiple times. I went thru some tough times break ups, and just watching your videos cheer me up, make me laugh, and bring back some sweet memories. 616 Entertainment by far my favorite Channel. I’ll put it to you this way, I rather watch your episodes than most shows on Netflix or Hulu. Keep it up !!
Thanks man. Like I was saying to someone else, I'm happy to be a light in the darkness. And this light isn't going out. I gotchu.
NGL. The MK series got me here and I'm so glad I stuck around. Playing Castlevania 3 as kid until I finally beat all the ways made me feel like such a superhero as an 8 year old. There's something about that game, the settings, the music, the map, the branching paths.....for an 8 bit title it was lightyears ahead of its time and playing it in the dark as a kid just made its world feel alive.
Incredible that you beat Castlevania III, man. Insanely hard game. Impressive!
I do love your history of videos. I saw you did this Castlevania one got so excited
Hell yea man!
Great video man. Ive not been getting many of your videos shown unless i search for them. I didnt know about the silent hill video. Gonna check that out tonight. I love your retrospective videos. Thats whta drew me in here in 2019
I'm hearing that a ton, dude. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy the stuff you've missed.
Great video man, the Castlevania franchise is one of my favorites and being able to play these games as they came out was a real treat.......it was also frustrating as hell. To this day I have only ever finished the first game. I have so much love for the franchise as a whole, have played pretty much all of them to some degree and have only ever finished 1......I have hundreds of hours in this franchise but have never experienced the ends for myself. I need to do that, guides or not, that's a goal I am setting for myself, please hold me to it.
I WILL hold you to it, and I'll do it like this: I'll be watching those trophies. Get the Anniversary Collection if you don't already have it, start working through!
Loved your opening remarks for context. I feel the same way with AVGN’s influence on my videos, so I can totally relate! Congrats on how big your channel has grown! 👏🏼👏🏼
This just made me pop huge !! What a great surprise can't wait to watch this loved this game so much 💜
Hope you liked the video!
Dude you and your channel are why one of the reasons I still use UA-cam. I love your videos brother!
Highly appreciated, dude.
Brilliant mate, cheers. I played these when they came out, love such vids.
Good line "rather have nothing than the dagger". Hilarious the anime made that an ultimate weapon 😂
Unpopular opinion: Castlevania 2 is actually my favorite of the original trilogy. I can definitely agree with everyone about it's flaws....but it's just more fun to me and I like the atmosphere and music and am just way more nostalgic for it than the others.
Enjoy your work, glad we'll be getting more of these. I was drawn to your channel by the Mortal Kombat and wrestling, but I too like to see you branch out. Keep it up.
The branching out will continue, thanks man.
I remember my cousin playing this and me being the smaller of the cousins there I just watched this dude tear through these games. So glad to be part of this channel brotha!

Great video I grew up playing the first 3 Castlevania games some of my best memories on the nes
Excellent, excellent.
Man, this takes me back! I spent so much time with my cousins playing Castlevania II!!! I remember getting so anxious when the message that night was happening. As much as I specifically remember playing this game, I don’t ever remember finishing it lol
Nothing is more true, i put my earbud in and fall asleep to a 616 video ive seen 100 times every night! Thanks for the great videos!
Thanks man, I appreciate that.
I remember getting these 3 Castlvania games when they first came out and it was the first time I had my ass handed to me by a video game series but couldn't stop playing. Love this episode, Ian!

"The History of Mortal Kombat" series is THE series that got my to subscribe to your channel. I have been watching and liking a lot of your videos ever since. You're doing awesome work and I cannot wait to see what I'll be liking on 6.16. Keep up the great work. Long live Patches!
Thanks man, I appreciate it. Patcharoo is right here, he's getting some sleep!
You're very welcome. I'm sorry that you're not getting the numbers for these videos. I've started watching all of the scream sequence videos every day just to try and help get your number of views up. Looking forward to Frankenstein.
Didn't expect to find out through this vid that none of the OG NES CastleVanias were bestsellers! Mindblowing to me! Stellar content as always, Ian!
Crazy stuff, right?
I'm not a Castlevania fan, but I love your shows so I had to check this out. Another great one man, I'm going to start saying "No Meat There" in casual conversation now.
Hahahaha
Just stumbled upon this channel by chance and Im glad I did. Thanks for the videos liked and subbed!
Thanks man! There are dozens of retrospectives like this on the channel mixed in with the let's play style videos, take a look at the playlists and enjoy. More to come.

@616Entertainment will there be a 2nd Castlevania video? Love the franchise, and my top 3 is...
Simons Quest
Bloodlines
Draculas Curse
Hey man, loved the Castlevania retrospective, you covered something that has been talked about to death but you put your own spin on it.
Like RVD, you are one of a kind.
ONE OF A KIND! Hahaha
I have to say as a long time castlevania fan your views and retrospective on this trilogy completely is identical to mine! It’s Draculas curse then the first castlevania and then the second game in the series for which ones are best! But again to the third game is hands down one of the best NES games of all time! Good video my man! Keep up the awesome work! These retrospectives slap!! 🍻 merry Christmas 🤘🏻
I love Castlevania 2. I used to love getting lost and trying to figure out where to go. When you found a new secret, the payoff was so good. My friends and I would exchange tips and new ways to advance the game. At the time, almost no other game was really like this. I can see why playing it now sucks, but at the time it was amazing. Great video man. CV is one if my favorite series.
Thanks for watching, glad to hear you enjoy SQ.
Awesome video, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I will say this....i love to see how this channel has grown....and yes...i watched avgn like u.... just know... i added ur content to my daily watchings....
Now we're talking Ian man Castlevania is awesome glade that you decided to show it some love with this retrospective, I would very much like to see a video on Super Castlevania 4 and SOTN, and get your thoughts on Bloodstained as well maybe a retrospective on that series too. Either way love it man Dan Dan for life and as always a shout out to Patches😁
Patcharoo is right here, he's sleepin'!
A story about SQ- As a kid I played CV4 and it blew me away. The first game I'd beaten, all we had were SNES and 64. My cousins were into emulation and knew of the series, so they set me up w/early Nestopia and ROMs of the trilogy. Starting CV2 was the same as anyone: "Where tf do I go?"
I was shocked it was "like Zelda", but I continued exploring for a while, coming across the mansion. Despite the seemingly dead end I jumped over and over, till an invisible platform picked me up and I accessed the whole mansion. False blocks? Mysterious orb at the end? Weird merchant selling a stake? I grinded, bought the stake, tried it on the orb and received my shield. It was a magical moment, giving the game such a feel of "Something we can't comprehend is making this land a mindfuck, and Simon's gotta finish his quest". Not till high school did I help Simon finish that quest. To this day, being one of the few games you see the townspeople and countryside makes it stand out to me. You should play Order of Ecclesia if you haven't, basically SQ w/out the iconic issues.
Awesome Retrospective!!!!
Thanks man!
I never played the Castlevania games just because I can't get into 2D platforming. But man this review was 🤌. I am always a sucker for you own personal memories and touches on everything and appreciate how honest you are about everything. Hopefully we see more about Castlevania down the line from you. Until then I am very much looking forward to Frankenstein. My favorite movie monster aside from Wolfman
Thanks man, more Scream Sequence to come. I hope this episode has legs, and I hope the Frankenstein episode does well, too.
Awesome retrospective!
Thanks! More to come. Stick aorund.
I liked Dracula's Curse and Castlevania 1. But by far and away Simons quest was my favorite of the three. I loved the grind and challenge of trying to figure out what you were supposed to do next. And the feeling of excitement when you figured out how to get further. More like a puzzle. Awsome video. Would love to hear about the rest of the games. To this day, I still go play Symphony Of The Night.
I got a Nintendo for Christmas 1991 with what I didn't realize at the time was 3 of the best games the Nintendo would ever get. Castlevania 3, Mega Man 3 & Super Mario 3. My first love was Mega Man but Castlevania was right up there, conquering those games early in my life is a great way to grow up as a gamer! Castlevania 3 is what a AAA, big budget title looked like on the NES. Great work as always Ian!
The 3s, man. How 'bout it?
Yes... Castlevania is one of my all time favorites PERIOD. Please cover those games.
We'll see, we'll see. It depends on how this video performs. So spread this one around if you want more! lol
Castlevania 2 was my favourite game. I bought it at the age of 8 and I was instantly fascinated by it. I'm Italian and I didn't know English at that time, so I didn't understand a single word from the people in the towns. However I discovered many secrets on my own using logic, deduction and a bit of luck. The only part I was completely stuck in was the use of the crystals, but with a guide I could overcome it and finish the game when I was 15. The atmosphere of this game is unique, I couldn't find such a feeling of looming terror anywhere else. My musical production you can find in my channel is largely inspired by Simon's quest and Harmony of Dissonance.
A perfekt retrospective Video !
Plz More of them !!
I make 2 per month, man! Hahaha
The only castlevania game I ever played was IV on the snes and I played the shit out of it. This vid was such a great way for me to see some of the history prior to the one I played. Would definitely be interested to see a follow up retro of the further castlevania games. Oh, and the Netflix series was sooooo good!!! Keep up the good work brother!
Thanks man! I'm glad you liked this one. Dude Castlevania IV is so good.
That was awesome man! Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden and Battletoads where three of my favorite titles on the nes. You should do the original Ninja Gaiden trilogy next!
I did like a 2 hour Let's Play Friday episode on Ninja Gaiden last year, I got close to beating it!
@@616Entertainment Awesome! I'll have to check it, its such a gem and hard game! I had Ninja Gaiden II growing up. 🙂
The Castlevania series is one of my favourite of the Konami franchise, and I am glad that I played all three of the NES trilogy. If I pick any of the three, my most favourite is definitely the first one. Nowadays Castlevania is a long gone franchise, but we still remember them in our hearts and cherish them even today.
Word on the street is a Castlevania game is in the works, so it may not be dormant for much longer. =)
Totally agree with you on AVGN Castlevania series! As a matter of fact I never played it as a kid and my nostalgia revolves around his videos.
One of the all timers, man.
Your videos put me to sleep, in a good way.
Top stuff
Hahahahaha, I'll take it.
Excellent work Ian! Bummer to hear the performance of Scream sequence is a bit soft, especially when it's such great content. You always kill it!
Thanks Ruben. This one has been a hitski, which is very surprising. But I'll take it! lol
Castlevania II was my first NES game. I beat it without a guide. I admit that discovering the tornado was a huge time sink.
Being an older gamer, I was not foreign to the concept of indeed throwing holy water at the walls of an empty and seemingly useless room.
How in the hell did you think to kneel there?
@@616Entertainment It's been a while, but I believe there is an earlier clue for kneeling with one of the other crystals by the lake. Because I had been aware of it, I tried kneeling next to that wall (with probably every crystal if not with everything!). I didn't own many games--I think at the time it was this game and the pack-in; so I spent a lot of time with it.
whooooaaa it's a new video I thought i was watching an old video :-) Hope you can feature Castlevania Symphony of the Night too
Maybe in the future!
I think you and James style is very different. You're both incredible content creators Im happy to have been following for so long 🤘
Thanks man, I really appreciate the kind words.
Man when I was a kid I had the first two games. I never beat them. I remember my older brother beating the first game. I remember playing Simon's Quest with a wireless controller trying to figure out what to do in the game. I used to get so mad about not knowing what to do next or where to go, man that game sucked back in the day and I really don't remember anyone at school talking about that game. To this day I still haven't beat any of the first three games lol. Keep up the great work bro I always enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks man. Plenty more to come. Your brother was little legend back then!
I love this, brotha man. I know how long you avoided Castlevania because of the excellent AVGN series, but as a big fan of that series myself I can say you definitely did your own thing with these games and this video is deserving of its spot among the greats.
I’ve never beaten the first game, I got to the end of the fifth level before you fight Death. Couldn’t do it haha. Never played much of the second one at all, and I’ve gotten to Dracula in the third game. If you don’t do a no-hit run on the last level, don’t even bother trying to fight Dracula haha.
The music in the whole series is great, CV3 in particular. So many cool tracks that “appaer” later in the series too.
As for my favorites? Super CV4 and Rondo of Blood are both excellent. I mean the true version of Rondo, not the SNES version (Dracula X). I downloaded it on Wii Arcade years ago and you’ve got me wanting to play it again haha.
Excellent video, man. Really loved this!
Thanks brudda, I appreciate it! Great call on "appaer" hahaha. I've never played through Rondo but I'd like to. I have the Requiem collection, so I have a proper version of it on PS4, I'll have to give it a go this year. It's been long enough!
I’ve seen u in Jaffe’s chat. Nice to see YT recommend me this video 👍
Love Jaffe! He’s come on my podcast in the past.
I'm glad you made a mention of Curse of the Moon. I'd love to see more coverage on that.
No plans for more. I did a Let's Play Friday on ROTN a few years ago and it performed terribly.
Thrilled to see a lovely guy, enjoy and appreciating his success whilst it is taking place.
That's very nice man, hahaha. Thank you.
Fun watch. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! More to come, stick around.
Scream Sequence slaps. Child's Play is the only property I've seen of the topics you've covered on this show. However even though idgaf about Castlevania or Resident Evil or Silent Hill, I love your episodes on them. They're very interesting. Exciting for Frankenstein since I've seen that. Is it just gonna be the original movie or some of the sequels as well? Bride of Frankenstein is probably in my top 3 films of all time. Either way, can't wait and I hope things improve bc these videos deserve way more views
This will just be the 1931 original, but I’ll mention that Bride and Son are even better. If it does well and there’s interest, I can cover those as well. Need to take a measured approach when I don’t know if it’ll perform. Putting all my eggs in one basket could be a mistake, ya know?
New subscriber here! You were born 1990?! Holy hell you just made me feel old, born ‘78. 😂 Great video and great memories to share. Job well done
Hahahaha, thanks man. Plenty more to come. Stick around!
I still have my original copy of Castlevania II... if my NES wasn't plagued with the "red blink of death", I would still play through it at least once a year.
Damn. I need to either get my NES fixed, or buy a top-loader!
Awesome as usual, Ian. Sorry so late.
