9 planets, 9 nights, 9 goddesses, dancing in a circle.. like the planets go around the sun
Exactly
And Garba is also anti clockwise rotation and also dancer also turns anti clockwise on their foot
Plz wel come gujarat....e aavajo aavta varshe❤
@@parthparekh7471 Most planets in our solar system rotate counterclockwise, but Venus and Uranus rotate clockwise.
Thats the scientific hinduism
It symbolises the 9 months of pregnancy. Garba is derived from garbh, the womb of mother
I'm from Norway and I visited multiple cities in India and Surat in Gujarat was my favourite. The people were incredibly nice and hospitable. Would love to visit India again❤❤
Why are you commenting this everywhere 😅. Making it ovious.

What an amazing documentary (but BBC won't at all show this side of India), been watching Garry ever since I was a kid, he hasn't aged a bit..
Who tf needs White validation pr their praise
Cause that doesn't align with their agenda
thank you 😊
@@tarushaggarwal1235so true!!!
the other side also exists
I'm non-gujaratii but I've experienced navratri atmosphere there, it's something that I've never seen in whole india, and it's the safety and freedom of women there, could see hundreds of girls at 3 AM in their traditional dresses walking and riding around the city, boys groups never goes near place where girls are present so girls could feel comfortable and enjoy the moments, their culture is massively devoted to Goddess.
It doesn't stop the men from sexually assaulting women. Don't be fooled by these rare festival events-- they're not the same as daily life.
Love from Kolkata.. Indian most beautiful dugra puja in world... love from Kolkata ❤❤❤❤❤❤
👍
Love from Gujarat ❤
they had 1 episode in previous session about Kolkata durga puja. one of the beautiful episode of this show.
Yes ❣️ save hindu culture there in WB please
@@TrilokdanGadhavi10 chill dude its not bangladesh
I'm a Gujarati and I'll confirm you that's 100% and pure insides of what's navratri like here. No exaggerations not hiding anything from pol to street shoppings and all the way to aditya gadhvis concert everything is documented perfectly well! Big respect to Gary and nat geo team!
I second this. This is one of the best representation of navratri I have seen. From united garba to sheri garba to shopping in law garden to Aditya gadhvi concert 👏

The 9 nights of Navratri represent the 9 months in the womb of the mother. It is a celebration of a new life. It is a belief among Hindus that the Goddess in all it's forms - be it as Ambe Ma or Ma Durga, or Ma Kali or Ma Gauri, or Ma Chamundeshwari and all other forms reflecting all the facets and moods of a woman, the many roles she plays in one life, descends on the earth and remains here for 9 days to be among her devotees and celebrate the new life with them - be it human, animal, birds, flora & fauna or grains, fruits & vegetables.😊
Jai Bharat.🇮🇳🙏
Jai Sanatan Dharm. 🙏🕉️🔱🚩🇮🇳🙏
Explained beautifully ❤❤🙏🙏
Such a beautiful description
Thank you for that. Most explanations that people check out on the Internet are trying hard to sound 'secular', work the Gods/Goddesses who are worshipped during these festivals not even mentioned! So Diwali is disassociated from Shri Rama and Onam becomes a harvest festival!
It is Great to see Gujarat. It will be nice to see Navaratri in each state of India. In Tamil Nadu we celebrate Navarti with Golu - a clay toy exhibit in every house. It has 9 tiers, non living things on the bottom, animals above them, humans bove them, and God on top. There is Carnatic music festival and special delicacy that goes with it. Every state in India celebrates Navratri in a unique way.
Yes it is just that Gujaratis celebrate it in a grand way not many states do infact they took it to the whole world and are teaching western people garba 😂
Gary u understand india so well , and luv the way u respect and portray our culture .. happy stay in India enjoy our hospitality, lots of luv from all of us ❤
In Jersey City in New Jersey, USA 🇺🇸 celebrating street Garaba by thousands of people in even cold weather. Where is Gujarati living, there is Navratri Garba Celebration.
Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat ❤
I am very grateful to National Geagraphic team and Gary to create this wonderful documentry on Navratri which is being celebrated all over the India culturally in a different ways in different states. heartfelt Thanks again!
I was not missing gujarat and garba until I watched this documentary, now I wanna go back home and play garba 🥹🥹
I wanna too 😢
Is Garva also called Dandiya dance? ? ?

Very little do we get to see such comprehensive and extensive documentaries on Indian Festivals...loved it....!!! Especially coverage of garbas in 3 different cities of Gujarat and completing it with the celebration of the iconic Ramleela in New Delhi ❤. Also loved The host...he had such great energy and positive vibes.🎉👏
Greatness of Hinduism 🕉️ ❤
I love how they retained the Gujju words literally. 'pol', 'maholla mata', 'pass nu setting' too cool!!!
That's literally so amazing, thank you for coming to India and showcasing it's diverse culture❤ THANK YOU FOR SHOWCASING THE POSITIVE SIDE OF OUR COUNTRY INDIA, most of the Westerners don't want to perceive India positively but you guys are just the sweetest❤
Garba Definition:
Before understanding Garba, we need to understand Garbi. Garbi is a small clay pot with more than five holes on the surface. (The holes symbolize five holes in the human body.) We need to light a lamp/Diya inside the garbi and offer it to the goddess. Now, when women take this Garbi on their heads and dance around the goddess idol, it is known as Garba.
Garba is a spiritual dance of women around goddess idols by taking a clay pot with holes and a lamp inside the pot. (nutshell)
I am an atheist but i love these festivals the experience and joy you get celebrating along everyone is amazing ❤
Agnostic is better option to sheek knowledge.
You can't be an atheist and not a hindu. Many scriptures of hinduism question god. So stop copying the west with the word "atheism" . It has no relevance in our world.

Atheist modern word… anyway Nastik are also in Sanatan only…😂
The word 'Garba' comes from the Sanskrit word 'Garbh', which literally means womb. So you can make the Goddess connection there.
India is the richest nation, timeless nation , ageless nation in the world
Gary, you took me on an exhilarating journey… your energy was infectious, inclusive and when you exclaimed “ I am where I belong! “ I almost believed you!! Genuinely heart-warming!!! Can’t wait for the next instalment!! Go Gary!!
A thank you will not do enough justice to what you have showcased. I have never seen such a beautifully shot and outstandingly narrated documentary that showcases MY GUJARAT. Well done, Gary.
This is Fantastic, making me homesick for Bharat. The camaraderie is what makes this festival Superb ! In fact the spirit of inclusivity, is the hallmark of all the festivals in Bharat.
Great culture, great Bharat, great PM Namo! Very well done program!
What a pleasure it was to watch Gary portray our Indian culture so beautifully. Thank you!
As someone who've experienced to durga puja in bengal, ganesh utsav in mumbai and navratri in gujarat, and many festivals throughout india, i could say navratri atmosphere in gujarat tops them all, its sight to see how well organised, colorful and diverse this festival is, their devotion to goddess is I've seen before, though one could see astronomical difference between big cities garba and garba that happens in sorastra regions, in those sorastra regions women are dressed in traditional attire, and always covers their heads, in their traditional garba many muslim girls take part.
I love my Hindu festivals
Love my culture ❤
Proud to be on this ground.. thank you radhika raje gayekvad for so much maintained organisation.. just fun fun and fun...

You missed Atul Purohit of United ways Garba which is the biggest and most loved in Vadodara. The documentary is very well done.
Aditya ghadvi ..❤ Gujarat
This is unique to India where women is worshipped and this is how they celebrate the source of all power , yes she indeed is the creator of the creator , demons exists everywhere but then when your eyes only see that then it misses the lights beyond , Navaratri signifies this light
Thanks You NatGeo & Gary for documenting our Navaratri in its true form. Our festival of dance, music & worshiping the Nari shakti. I wish everyone in world get chance to play Garba once in a life time in Gujarat especially in Ahmedabad. ❤
Indian clacissical dance perform gives me spiritual forces of our mind and our body
