The Supercharger team was probably the best department in terms of results. WTF is going on? at this point is safe to assume is just ego from Elon "People are talking too much about those guys, fire all of them"
IDK if it’s ego, Maybe misplaced anxiety 🤔 It does seem odd to fire so many people. Some OEMs hate to fire their most experienced subject matter experts because… they are afraid they will quickly get picked up by other companies and share valuable information. Not everyone can be quickly replaced….
This was nothing more than Elon Musk deciding to assert himself. Having read the Isaacson bio, this is pretty much vintage Musk. He apparently told the head of this group to reduce headcount substantially, she refused, so he fired her and the whole group, Now he can rebuild it the way he wants. Is this any way to run a railroad? No. Does it mean anything to the rest of the world? No.
If that’s what happened… Firing the head of the group makes sense. You can’t just refuse an order like that. But firing the whole group doesn’t make sense. Idk what really happened behind those doors 🤷♂️🤷♂️
We don't know what the internal politics of this situation was, so we're not really in a position to make a good judgement. However, it would appear that the department had become bloated and resistant to the instructions to slim down. Elon isn't the most patient of individuals, and it may well be that he decided to reset the Supercharging operation from scratch. There are enough Superchargers out there for this not to cause a crisis in the short term while money needs to be saved. He'll keep the best members of the team, and he has all of the designs and manufacturing facilities. It won't be hard to finish the current roll out and then rebuild a lean and mean team to go forward. This is hardly the end for Superchargers.
Rational take …. I don’t understand how … If he ask a member of upper management to trim their department…. and they start pushing back hard? Who does that? That’s a real quick way to become unemployed 😆
Hopefully we'll find out soon enough what this is all about. Speculation is futile, lol

That is true that it's so silly when companies have their own propriety connections to things instead of coming up with a standard from the start. This isn't only with cars, in EU Apple had to be forced to using USB-C instead of their own lighting connector or whatever it's called. There should be some law that all widely sold consumer appliances, cars, boats etc. all use some standard connectors from the start and if a standard isn't adopted yet for some new range of products, one needs to apply for that and then the officials decide what the country will go with in the future.

@JohnSmith-ug5ci have been in electrics since 2014.... not scammed one bit. 350 miles for $7 has been a lovely experience for the same price that a regular car costs to buy. Sweet deal - and you subsidized it, which just makes it even better

EV's are claimed to be green. They are not. EV's claim to be cheaper to own that a comparable gas model. They are not.
Ev's are claimed to get "X" number of miles. partial truth. In cold climates they can lose 50% of range and EVERY auto maker does not recommend always fully charging.
That is just a few examples of the scam. They are grossly overpriced, too short a range, and too long to charge. Perhaps in the future they will be corrected, but for now they are scams.
If it is claimed to be cost reduction the team probably runs at a loss. The cost to put them in and run them vs the revenue brought in must be negative.
If the team was cash positive they wouldn't close the department.
No charging company is making money and it seems Tesla is no different.
Tesla is trying to switch to a robotics and AI company to justify its ridiculous market cap.
I would say they should make some plug in hybrids but that would probably make a lot of their fans mad lol 🤷♂️

How does slowing down production of superchargers accomplish the goal of getting Trump back in office ? 🤔

@@winstonp.prescott3845 Hmmm 🤔 I think most people who would vote for Trump aren’t too concerned if Tesla employees get fired. But, I do see how that could possibly sway some independents 💯
@@MJ100k maybe i'm not making my point clear, corporations will fire people to drive down the economy to get the guy they want in office, and to heck with who is hurt in the short term..they could always hire some back, but the headline is what they want..lets see in a few weeks if we don't start seeing this happen

Agree… but if looks like they’re cutting back on making them now. So either they don’t make a lot of money or they anticipate a big slowdown in the sale of EVs.

@MJ100k in order to cancel contracts you MUST take entire team out. Otherwise you owe se Frances and contracts. Once done and a cool off has occurred you can hire back who you want. Basic business
