Pretty good. Thank you for posting. I have a 17 Ridgeline and have only driven minimally in the snow. But I did drive home from dropping my son off at college a few years ago in a snowstorm. All sorts of vehicles were off the road stuck on the NY Thruway and I made it thru about 330 miles of snow storm and I wasn't even in snow mode. The Ridge was solid! I have been hoping (and for years dieing to) but haven't had a chance yet to go over sand in Truro and Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod. Have you done any soft sand dune driving yet? (I almost did last year and have since purchased a full size spare, which is a requirement to going OSV, this summer guarenteed!)
Test valid as a comparison only if tires the same. Fun to watch. My 2007 RL doesn't have the different settings for weather or terrain, but I suspect it would do passably with the right tires.

I had fun in the snow in with my 06 ridge running KO2's. I have been in deeper snow and know my limits. Low ground clearance tends to high center. If you are high centered on you frame/axles an open diff, Sh-AWD, lockers will still get stuck. Make sure you have a shovel, it sucks being stuck/stranded low on fuel in the cold. I still love the truck and love the utility it has. It is very practical.
Good tip lol, I almost got stuck in the middle of a parking lot. Would have been very embarrassing. Check out my other video, Ridgeline vs Polar Vortex lol.
Honda should have added an inch or two lift to the front end which I will immediately do then all will be much better than the thing with the vacuum cleaner attachment
Yeah, the OEM tires that come with the Ridgeline are not very good especially when it comes to stopping on snow and ice. Next winter I will look into some Allweather tires.
General Grabber at2, Falken wild peak at3w and Bfgoodrich KO2 are an All terrain tire stamped with triple peak snow rating (3PMSF) These all work nicely.
That's not a snowstorm lol. Come to Alaska to see real snow. Drive in 30inches of snow uphill and see what happens. Need proper snow tires too, those look like all terrain tires.
So, first of all, I really like the Ridgeline and its much better than the haters pretend. Much. People seem to need to hate things, no idea. The RL would suit me fine and better than much of the competition for many purposes. But.... that LC is 24 years old, looks great and totally solid and just does it. The level of durability and integrity found in Toyota LCs especially, although to some extent in other Toyotas (like a 4cyl 4x4 manual transmission Tacoma for example), is something very unique for stuff regular humans can actually buy. And that old LC would get much more serious than a snow plow pile if needed. So in 24 years try a test again with the RL and do it someplace more suited to the safari vehicle. Then we’ll see how the RL stacks. Thing is, I don’t really need that, doubt I’ll be around in 24 years and the Ridgeline seems very, very good to me. It might very well pass that future test too.
The Ridgline is a wonderful city truck. So is the Pilot. TFL tried to get one up a mountain with three other brands (Tacoma, Frontier and Colarado). The Ridgeline's transmission overheated half way up.
Love the tires and rims on it. Makes all the difference in it's appearance. I currently have a 2014 Ford Explorer. I want a truck to add to my vehicles. I've contemplating by this vehicle . I've been researching the heck out of it. Your videos are appreciated. Can I ask the rims ana brand tire on it? Also, how is for long distance drives.. comfort wise?
Thanks, I think so too. The stock rims and tires are like 3 inches inside the fender and make the ridgeline look kind of top heavy. They are XD series wheels, I forget the exact model but if you browse their website you can find it. Tires are General Grabber AT 265/65/17. These are the largest passenger rated tires, any larger you move to the LT tires which are much heavier. Overall the truck is slightly louder from the tires but almost unnoticeable and ride is extremely smooth.
MrDamon70 - comfort is off the charts - needed a truck that would be a commuter (90mi/day) for my regular job in Wash DC traffic and haul fishing gear every weekend as well as tools etc for odd carpentry jobs. I wanted a Tacoma but when I drove it I was claustrophobic in the cab. Loved the Tacoma but it wasn't comfortable to me at all. The ride was also what you'd expect from a good offroad vehicle. Once I got in the RL I couldn't believe the comfort, space, and size of the windshield. Every luxury you can think of plus plenty of room for passengers as well. It basically has the smooth ride of the Pilot (shocker, I know) I've had this truck for 6 months and LOVE it. The hidden trunk is invaluable for wet fishing gear and for safe storage of tools. The truck bed speakers have been great at tailgates and on fishing trips. This is not a full sized pick up that you'd want as a contractor but for a city driver you can not beat it. I've even hauled a friends boat because it came equipped from the factory with the tow package. Hope this helps.
A Ridgeline is a great daily driver, however if you really want to go off road or haul heavier payloads in the back, I’d recommend a traditionally designed body on frame truck. I honestly don’t think that a Ridgeline rides any smoother than my 08’ Dodge Ram 1500. Not trying to start a argument, but just stating my perspective. I’d honestly go and look at both half ton and midsize trucks from every brand, and just see what you like. I know I was ready to buy a GMC Canyon when I test drove my full-size Dodge and realized how much more truck I got for the money.
I know at some point u must have said it but I can’t find it, what exact size tires were on the truck? And what width rim? And did it rub at all with full lock on the steering?
And the Tacoma and Jeep guys saying the same thing about the g1. Really depends on what you're looking for because G2's interior size, comfort, bed size and overall looks are way better.
Not sure what you mean true 4wd? The g2 uses Acura’s shAWD rear end. Which means it actually has a mechanical locking differential and then some. I’ll agree the g1 has more ground clearance.
"VTM-4 LOCK" on the 2006-2014 was a bit of a misnomer. It didn't actually perform a solid mechanical lock. Instead, it simply applied both rear clutches at maximum capacity (70% of available torque - above which the clutches would slip by design). "Sand mode" in the 2017-current Ridgeline and Pilot does the same thing.
Yea I can confirm the vtm diff lock was only a partial lock cause the clutches couldn't handle the full torque. If you were stuck it would lock to a point until one wheel would eventually break loose.
Yea its one of the biggest reasons why I bought a Ridgeline, for the family. Did you check out my original Ridgeline review? ua-cam.com/video/cur0TBa1iIY/v-deo.html I didn't go really in detail about latches or anything, is that what you're looking for?

Good video. Thanks. I wouldn't mind the Ridgeline for around town and HomeDepot runs. My neighbor has one and it is very nice! I'll probably sell my 1998 Tacoma and get a new one.... but there's nothing wrong with it so maybe not! I'm starting to eye new trucks and still undecided.
