Just did the broad street in these averaging 187 steps per minute for my cadence and they worked great (my training easy and zone 2 cadence is about 170. id say if you are creeping up to the mid 190s the edge is probably the play.
I’ve ran 2 marathons using your 8 week training plan and currently training for my third. I didn’t know you had a UA-cam channel until now! I have always just used superblast for my running and absolutely love them. Just recently bought the metaspeed sky as my first ever carbon plated shoe. I only did 1 run in them and found them unstable and also got a bit sore. Do you think it’s because it’s my first plated shoe? I believe i might be a heel striker. Would you recommend any other carbon plated shoe please?
That’s so awesome to hear about the plan! Not so good you didn’t know I had a UA-cam channel though! 😝 I better improve my channel marketing! My favourite is the Cielo X 1. It’s epic, and the most stable! Here’s my race day shoe roundup: www.trailandkale.com/gear/best-carbon-plate-running-shoes/
@@trailandkale thanks for the reply! I’ll check out the shoe round up and look into Cielo x 1. And thanks again for the training plans. I got sub4hr in my last marathon! I like that the plan peaks at 38 miles as it suits me well being a hybrid trainer
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Paris edge. I’ve found in last versions the edge+ was better for me at least in any race at half marathon or under. I used the saucony pro 2 in my last full as I was worried about how firm the edge+ was for a full, but it may of been fine and just beat up my legs more after😂 Good review, I found the original Sky to be fantastic when I was on my game running wise.
Hey @ericwj7! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I haven’t reviewed the Edge yet, but it’s in my line up! I have read that the Edge Paris is a solid choice for shorter races, especially if you liked the Edge+ for those distances. The firmer ride of the Edge Paris will definitely be tougher on the legs during a full marathon, so I understand your hesitation - if you have a high cadence running style it may suit you well though... I know I’d definitely prefer more cushioning in my mara shoes. The latest Saucony Endorphin Pro (v4) is a great shoe (recently reviewed it on the channel), but yeah, finding the right balance for long distances can be tricky. The original Sky is fantastic when you're in peak form, for sure. I'll definitely share more detailed thoughts on the Paris Edge as soon as I get hold of them. My fav Mara/super shoe right now is the Cielo x1 (ua-cam.com/video/eZsSWvC1XDs/v-deo.htmlsi=m8ncP1rUuj4mhGK2) - and here are my other favorites in order of how they performed in my reviews: www.trailandkale.com/gear/best-carbon-plate-running-shoes/ -Alastair
@@trailandkale I have the Sky paris now and after testing between the edge Paris I'll be using it for my Marathon. It's amazing and I'm at 175-185SPM in my running or racing I'm not a huge cadence Runner, unless it's a technical trail, of course Lol. Interestingly, so far, my times are almost identical in both shoes with the sky beating it out, but just slightly in my tests between 10K and 5 mile runs. On different days and different roads. If I was an Elite maybe the Edge would be faster but for me a 3:39 PB Marathoner the Sky is faster even in shorter distances for me and more comfortable versus the edge, Paris.

Yeah agreed. I sit at around 180 for cadence and 1.37 meters for stride length when I’m gunning it.

And yes you will feel a little sore after the first few runs in a carbon plate shoe, don’t worry that goes away

@abufit_ that’s awesome! What time are you aiming for in the next one?
Thanks for you review! I can't find it anywhere on the Asics website. Is there something wrong or is the stock very low?
Not that I know of... it's most likely supply chain issues. I've noticed this on other brands' super shoes - Nike Alphafly 3 for example
I'm a heel striker with an average cadence of 200. Do you think the Paris Sky or the Edge would be best for me?
Sounds like the Edge is for you, but I haven’t tested that one so couldn’t say for sure
@@trailandkale have you any plans to review the Edge?
@davetravis3342 I don’t unfortunately right now. I can probably ask the @ASICS team if they can send a pair for comparison if you like?
@@trailandkale that would be great! Thanks
my recent race in these i had a 187 cadence and they felt great. id probably recommend the edge for you if you are around 200.
Did they fit true to size for you?

And ‘more comfortable’ hits the nail on the head here! :) I’d rather that blend as it takes the fun out of running for me otherwise.
