  • In the beginning, David Horning and Steve Mers created a podcast to prove that anything can be funny. Then they said "Let there be laughs," and there were laughs, and they saw that it was good.
56 episodes later, former religion major and comedian Geoffrey Asmus (JFL, "Laughs," LOL Network) joins the podcast to share his revelation that you CAN laugh at that sacred text over 2 billion people around the world have attached themselves to: The Bible.
From the obscure characters, to the absurd rules, and the belief systems based off of the human interpretations of this sacred text, laughing at a book that set the course of history for nearly 2 centuries may seem sacrilegious in itself. At one point, people would be executed for simply questioning the dogma of it. In reality, challenging the fixed beliefs that come with the book by pointing out the absurdities within it and creating new perspective has moved society forward by leaps and bounds, so in this episode, we talk about:
-Getting away with more onstage by visibly having fun.
    -Getting a religion degree.
    -The Qur’an.
    -Going to a Catholic school.
    -Geoffrey’s start in stand-up.
-The laziness of comics pontificating against religion onstage.
-Geoffrey’s bit breaking down if Jesus were white.
    -The origin of Christianity.
-Red flags when a religion claims to be the only one with THE right answers.
-Geoffrey’s bit about Shamgar, a Bible character who deserves his own book.
-Why people get offended when comics joke about The Bible.
-A trick for connecting an obscure bit with the audience.
    -Bible absurdities and obscure rules.
    -And more!

I went to public school in the 1970s. I had a history teacher who had been a nun throughout WWII where eve served in the Red Cross and it changed her. She had been a catholic school teacher prior to the war and decided that after the war she’d take her talents to the public sector for the good of all of society. She was the most dedicated teacher I’ve ever seen.

If there was a ALL then it would be all there was. The ALL would have to "make" us, but it cannot reproduce all or divide it it would not be all then. So how else does one create? With our finite minds we can create stories ideas n dreams, do above as below. The ALL is thinking, and dreaming of you. With a infinite mind and all the attention of a immortal with you in mind.

Enjoyed listening to you guys. Must have been Jesuit Order schools you guys went to? I attended Marianist Order Catholic schools (K-12), which were very different from Jesuit (and not in a good way).

him saying he never heard of stand up till 18 is a straight up lie, it's impossible. I went to America and did my first stand up set there because I could not walk 2 feet without seeing a poster for a stand up comedy open mic night. I'm from a 3rd world country and I have known about stand up for pretty much my entire life. It's just impossible to grow up in America without knowing Eddie Murphy or Jim Carrey, and what about youtube? The first viral video was an Eddie Izzard Routine. It just strikes me as a desire to come of as quirky. I love Geoffrey but I refuse to believe this

If you don't understand that The Holy Father, the one who made everything, has only the craziest most very fucked up sense of humor.
Why is that the single angel who truly defied the maker knowingly in detest for copying the ego of maker; he himself was fruitfully sent to birth control over those deemed the not worthy. If you know how funny it is to be mocked only to make the mockery mock themselves for an external infinite via the conduit of some existential prison of the mind and soul (aka revenge or whatever petty matters infinite beings bother themselves with).
I know from my petty ways, someone who brags or acts stupid usually condescending towards others will pine with affection for one thing. That kind of obscene behavior is wasted when they make the attempt to appreciate the gift they bestow upon themselves (usually in a negative manner).
Long rant but yeah if you're not about your bull and you pull your own card only to not deliver... Eh that's only one example of a world wide. Pick your poison but God is hilarious and I believe Jesus is a guy in aviators with a glass of wine, smonkin on a phatty dubbie. 🥳
