The Average White Band (also known as: "AWB") is originally from Scotland they are the funkiest "white" guys to ever play SOUL music!!! I'm not "white" and I'm not making this a racial comment, I'm only mentioning it to state that "SOUL HAS NO COLOR!!!" You either have it or you don't, and these guys have it!!! They were the first white group to ever play "live" on Soul Train back in the 70's...They are not a "one-hit-wonder" either, they have a deep musical catalog of both fast & slow jams, such as: "Cut The Cake," "A Love Of Your Own," "Schoolboy Crush," "Person To Person," "Cloudy (Live 6:36)," "Queen Of My Soul," "If I Ever Lose This Heaven," "Would You Stay," "Work To Do," "I'm The One," "Let's Go 'Round Again," "Sunny Days Make Me Think Of You," "Atlantic Avenue," "All Will Be Well," etc., etc...As a matter of fact, James Brown "The Godfather of Soul" was a FAN of theirs, he liked their "Groove!!!" The track you just reacted to: "Pick Up The Pieces" was the big hit that got it all started for them & gave them their big breakthrough on the radio & in the clubs. I highly recommend that you go down their "rabbit-hole" because you will not be disappointed!!! Mic-Drop!!!🎤
I'm glad to see young folks appreciate where good music came from. They're seeing raw talent from back in the all instruments nothing computer generated.
My Grandma used to listen to these dudes back in the day when I was a kid so I was exposed to this genre of music at an early age when she babysat us while my Mom worked. Heard a lot of these cats, Kool & The Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Parliament - Funkadelic, Teena Marie , Brothers Johnson and Motown jams. Love the presentation on your channel. Y'all do a sick job. God Bless!!!
The video is looking dated now but the music sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Good music has a shelf life that will outlast the shelf it sits on. Great reaction!
This was just one of many very popular harmony bands of the 70's and 80's. another band that was funky and soulful "The Guess Who - Undone - Midnight Special 1973" so keep your dancing shoes on guys because this one is just as fun 👠👞🎺🎸🤗💖🎶
It's a long scale bass guitar as opposed to a short scale. More frets & more bottom to it. Women have a tendency to use the shorter one because of the weight factor and they usually have shorter arms as opposed to a man. The standard for many years was the Fender Precision electric bass; called that because the developer said it made the precise sounds of an upright bass or double bass used in jazz. Early rock & rollers used the upright but it got drowned out by the guitars. Leo Fender changed the sound of rock with his Stratocaster guitar & Precision bass.🎼🎸🎺🎷
Look up the "Soul Train" performance of this song. It's vastly superior, as are their other Soul Train performances. I'm a hunky from the 70's who got to see them live. I will never forget it! I am blessed!
How about checking out some Stylistics two songs I'd like you to review the first is Stone In Love With You and the other song is you make me feel brand new.
