    Just today I wrote an email that began with "Sorry for the delay! Here is the document." The crazy thing is I wasn't even late. They asked me to send it in within a week but then sent me 2 follow up emails within 2 days making sure I "didn't forget" so it automatically made me want to apologize. This is the first thing I'm going to change starting tomorrow morning!

    Tip: start these on December 1st (or any time as long as it's not January 1st) because this creates a horrific sense of anxiety and when failure comes (which usually always happens when implementing a routine) the lack of starting on a milestone makes us give up. Starting it on an insignificant date allows us to fail and restart, fail and restart, failed and restart etc etc and accept that it's a journey of failure rather than a short-lived attempt at a "new us, new year". I kept all of my resolutions/ routines from last year by implementing this, and by that, you can say 'bonjour' to a new bilingualist and soon (in the next year) to by polyglot!

    • @ThisIsAnneleen

      I have that "I will start on the 1st of next month" thought a lot ;-) 1st of January is no different. It unfortunately doesn't help me to stick to the new routine any better though... But I absolutaly agree, any day is a good day to start!

    • @lunayen
      @lunayen 5 років тому +3

      Yes! Or, if someone can't do it in December, then try it in February. Both are insignificant dates long before and after January first.

    I totally respect your suggestion to be comfortable saying "I don't know". We get so caught up in sounding intelligent that we forget that we put our reputation at risk if we're uninformed. I think if we're uncomfortable saying "I don't know" in conversations, we need to make an effort to get information from reputable sources on both sides of the issue instead of repeating what social media or our peers tell us.

    Trying to raise your credit limit causes a hard check on your credit which will lower your credit score. It will balance out in time but it's worth noting for those that might be closely monitoring their scores, especially before a big life event/purchase.

      Georgia Alexandra Perisanidis Not where I live in the midwest. Most of our fruits and vegetables come from California and Chili, and they're damned expensive. Our growing season is about 4 months a year, so we can harvest our own fresh only for a couple of months, and that's only if you live where you can have a garden.

    • @Aerinn21
      @Aerinn21 4 роки тому

      Same here, where I live fruit and vegetables are often expensive, even during the season. In some cases you may be able to go a little bit cheaper with your groceries, but more often than not it's the same amount or even higher!

    • @kaity1252
      @kaity1252 4 роки тому

      in my parts of the midwest (lived in Omaha and the Chicago suburbs) produce prices vary a lot throughout the year yes, but even from store to store. I wouldn't say "really expensive" but I don't really know the alternative. However, when I break down my weekly grocery spending the more expensive items are always processed things (i.e. milks, cheeses, veggie burgers, etc.) compared to the produce. But obviously you have to use some prudence in buying things which fluctuate prices. At my primary store, avocados were $0.79 for a few months and then skyrocketed to $2. Then, it's not the season for avocado. Use this discretion with other produce too and you can reasonably afford produce.

      @@HappiestVeganonEarth you can be an unhealthy vegan too! Last year 'me' was living proof, ramen and Oreos were all I ate. Just because you're vegan doesn't make you healthier than a carnivore/ vegetarian automatically. You'll have lower (no) cholesterol but that's the only thing guaranteed. It's healthier when done right (in our opinions), but it isn't always and a cleaner, low meat, low-fat diet from a carnivore can be healthier than some (if not most) junk food vegans

      @@iDaisySix Only around 10% of the emissions of food products comes from transport. Meat and dairy consumption are extremely harmful for the climate no matter where they're from. Also remember that even the locally grown animals are many times fed with, for example, soy from areas that used to be rainforests in Brazil.

    Best way to put some of these into practice is to give yourself a goal of one week, then extend for another week and continue that way. Last year I went Paleo and alcohol free for 90 days. Initial goal was just a 30 day cleanse to detox (and of course save money.) Ended up extending for an additional 2 months and it wasn't even much of an issue.

      Depends on where you live. Where I live, most of our fruits and vegetables come from California (halfway across the continent) and Chili, and they're damned expensive. I live up north, so we can only harvest fresh for two months out of the year at most. I can't eat rice or very much wheat because I'm hypoglycemic and those things make me literally sick. If I eat pancakes or rice with beans, I pass out for 3 solid hours every time. My sister tried to go vegan when we were on a trip together where meat was expensive, and after 3 days, she ended up getting disoriented and walked away in the wrong direction into a crowd of people. I immediately took her to a restaurant and bought her cheap self a beef dinner.

I work in a shop, i don't mind what people do, but you'd be surprised the range of people's behaviour, some don't want to do anything until they've discussed your day with you and how you're feeling and how they're feeling, others jump out of their skin if you say something (even necessary things, like 'your card, sir' (ie you've left it in the machine), some talk loudly to one foot above your head, some want to tell you nonstop jokes - it's rarely dull

    Can you do a video (or include the link if you already have made one) about how you use excel sheets to organize your life? I like the idea of using sheets but don't know how I could implement it to be useful for me.
    Thanks!

    I have the weekly routine called :"Fuck It Friday!". Friday is the end of my work week so I get takeout food and a special soda that I love after work. I get a movie or some other relaxing activity (read, sew,, etc and everyone knows that I don't do anything then. I will do/help everyone on Saturday through Thursday but Friday night is my day to relax.

    I used my renters insurance when I was robbed. Stolen items were around $1500. Got back $150. My insurance mailed me a month ago telling me they could no longer keep me as a client because I was robbed...... I disagree.

    • @kunalmishra9463

      There's some more nuance here than this though -- if you were robbed $1650, you would've received $300. $10,000? You would've gotten back $8650. It looks like your deductible -- the piece that you're responsible for paying -- was around $1350. Because renter's insurance is so cheap month to month, it's really useful for big-deal, lifestyle altering sums of money but for things that are closer to your deductible, as it was in your case, it isn't as effective.

      Hey everyone quick update. First thanks for letting me rant some. To clear things up my deductible was $1,000. Just getting back $150 did make sense (still upsetting though). They also priced my Mac computer and PS4 as what they would sell today vs. when I originally bought them, which makes sense as well. Insurance update found out 2 days ago: my insurance as a whole did not let me go, more of an advisor. There reason to let me go was because I was robbed "too soon"...... even with a police report. I got insurance September and was robbed in December, so a total of 3 months being there. Just wanted to end this with be careful where you live and who your insurance agents are. I do appreciate this channel but I think the renters insurance part hit a sore spot! Again thanks!

    I’ve been in the habit of increasing my credit limit as frequently as I can without initiating a hard pull, but I heard recently that a high credit limit can be a problem when applying for a loan because it might be seen as another open loan. Is there any accuracy to that?

      In Australia where I live the banks definitely take your credit card limits (not balances) into account when working out how much you can borrow for a mortgage/home loan. Not sure about other loan types though or what the rules are in other places.
