Lynn Fp please don’t do these just buy the ordinary please don’t ruin your skin
@@lynnfp1811 they a) end up being more expensive than professionally formulated products and b) usually work less well than professionally formulated products that have the concentrated extracts and thus increase skin's Expos to the active ingredients locked inside the cells of whatever fruit or vegetable your concocting your face mask with.
That said: you'll have to claw my fine sifted powdered cinnamon 'dry shampoo' out of my cold dead hands 😜
you all probably dont care at all but does someone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid lost the account password. I love any help you can give me.
@Jordan Orion instablaster ;)
For me it’s having the same type of hanger to hang all the clothes in the closet (the thin velvet ones you can get inexpensively at tk max or primark in my case). Getting rid of all the plastic mismatched hangers feels so good.
Yass!
oooh smart!
Yes yes yes!
i break one of my crappy old hangers once a week and im looking forward to the day where ive broken enough to justify buying a big fancy set
i agree. For me, it's matching wood hangers, instead.
The “nice sleepwear” tip changes lives.
About a month ago I decided to de clutter my drawers and noticed how much clothing from childhood I owned that were worn out and extremely juvenile.
I purchased a few night slips and baby dolls and it has changed my nighttime routine drastically. I feel so luxurious doing my night time skin routine and spraying my Chanel perfume before slipping on my satin robe and stepping in my ballet house slippers. And it has made my sleep a lot more enjoyable. I feel like Blair Waldorf at night.
I can 1000% relate that even a really nice robe to wear after shedding your day clothes will make you feel so good about the mundane task of taking off makeup, putting on eye cream, brushing teeth, etc. I have no regrets about my robe upgrade.
👏👏👏😊🌹!
You inspired me!
Wine Glasses + Flavored sparkling water is basically my version of happy hour at home. Turns out I don't really need the alcohol, I just love drinking out of a wine glass.
AnaBeaverhausen I even drink my protein shakes outta wine glasses 😂
Same! I do that sometimes with my nice champagne flutes a friend got me for my 21st birthday...ginger ale or seltzer in a champagne flute makes it feel so fancy! Completely silly yes but very fun.
The type of glass plate or fork you use can even impact the actual taste of a drink or dish. So a desert with a fancy delicate spoon will taste different as if you use a wooden spoon or a plastic one.
Drowsypanther85 This must be similar to how I prefer eating McFlurries with the plastic spoon.
This is how I make drinking water fun! Or when I'm sick, emergen C
Here are a few more ideas:
Bedding (sheets), beautiful plates & silverware, vitamins, good bra & beautiful panties, clean car, fresh flowers, a good skincare routine & moisturizers, and a beautiful pair of earrings.
Tea Todd Style Stingy those are excellent ideas! Thank you for sharing!
the good bra 💯
Fresh flowers are a luxury I don't indulge in as yet
I agree!
Nice dishes are definitely a must have for me ... plastic plates and cups are great around the pool (no broken glass near bare feet) - but inside entertaining calls for ceramic/porcelain and glass.

Sniff some fresh basil while looking at your bank account and come back and comment 🤔😝 you’ll know why once you DO IT
You made me guffaw.
The one thing that made all the difference for me and my husband is buying good quality coffee. So instead of going out 3 times per week to have breakfast at a coffee shop, we strive to prepare a decent breakfast with homemade bread, fruits and cake. Yummy ☕
* Having my lights on a timer, I love coming home to having my lights on
* a homemade latte with my favorite oat milk
* a made bed
@Blake Belladonna that sounds brilliant
I just have my lights set to turn 1 second after my front door opens.
Interesting side benefit ... My security camera once caught an intruder who broke into the front. The silent alarm did go off but it was the lights coming on that spooked him. He ran off without going any further inside.
When Chelsea said a 4 year old T-shirt got from a conference with mysterious stains, I felt attacked. 😂
Me too!☺
Omg same 😭😭😭 like how does she know
I feel attacked as I wear said type of shirt
:) as I drink my morning coffee in my old baseball team t-shirt from the early 1990s with mysterious stains. Hey it's an experiment I'm seeing how long I can sleep in a t-shirt before it deteriorates!
Seriously. Mine are all old oversized college tees
I have scissors in every room in my house... including the basement. Had enough of playing "find the scissors"! This has definitely saved my sanity several times over. Do I NEED that many? Yes. Yes I do. As they say, sorry...not sorry.
yes! I have multiples scissors and scotch tape.
Me too! Also a box of tissues.
I too have multiple scissors in the house. I also have a pair of Dollar Store glasses in every room. I have expensive prescription glasses for my wfh job, but the budget readers do the trick otherwise.
@@HeronCoyote1234 oh man, extra dollar store readers?! GREAT idea! thanks!
Eating Al Fresco will really make you feel like you're living lavish. I threw myself a birthday dinner and made simple, delicious food, good wine, a cute little gin station, baked a cake and it was the best birthday I've literally ever had.
My kind of jam: silky/satin bathrobe, quality fountain pen, perfect manicure, fresh and clean hair with a simple diy hairstyle, linen spray (diy with some essential oil, alcohol and distiled water), nice bedsheets (damask rules), beautiful picture frames on display... Choosing quality over quantity and taking good care of your belongings pays out far more in the long run for people with limited budget, and people who like to keep the clutter to a minimum
i ve never heard of linen spray? you spray it on your bedsheets?
You know we live in hell when a good night’s sleep feels luxurious
Welp.
Not really, our ancestors slept with matchets and guns by their side, under a tree. If you are not being attacked by a fellow human, it’s a wild animal you have to watch out for.
When I’ve had a long day I’ll drink my soda out of a wine glass because feeling fancy really helps you unwind.
I am gonna try that!
Drinking ANYTHING out of a wine glass makes you feel extremely fancy immediately.
I do this with kombucha and sparkling water. Really ups the fancy!
Nice
A nice perfume. 100ml will last you years. Years I tell you.
Ohhh this is such a good one!!! A gift of 150ml perfume lasted me like 3 years - wearing it every day! A great lesson learned and nothing beats smelling fancy even in a tshirt and jeans =)
Just make sure it’s stored in the dark!
Yes! I'm willing to invest in my perfumes
Yes. I just received a bottle as a gift! And I love it 💕 I do invest in little luxuries where I see fit, yet perfume always seemed too overindulgent to me, but when they explained how a good bottle lasts about two+ years with regular use it really is affordable and it makes day to day life that much richer
primadonna1208 yes!
So to sum up... buy quality things that will last. Keep your house clean and uncluttered. Shop in thrift shops. "Quality" and "thrift shop" are not mutually incompatible.
Try consignment shops for quality clothing, jewelry, furniture, etc. If you can, locate a consignment shop in an affluent neighborhood.
When I'm home and hanging out in a room with low light my mom will ALWAYS come in and switch on more lights. I'M SETTING A MOOD, MOM!
yeah, it's the same at our theatre clubhouse. We have a team mood lights and a team surgery lights 😅
Charlotte Dow I hear ya!
I had this problem growing up when Reading a book and not wanting the full Bright light as it made the white of the pages sting the eyes...
And in comes a parent to them I’m sitting in the dark and straining my eyes.
Fun fact - appearently as you get older your experience of light changes so it is possibly that what is perfect light to the eyes of a Young person might seem way darker to a middle age and older.
😂 This is my husband and me! I’m always telling him to turn off the overhead lights because it’s evening and we’re not doing surgery.
1) an empty mailbox. I have no mortgage, rent, credit card bills, or car loans.
2) a budget with wiggle room. My money is saved in different accounts for specific investments.
3) being able to help out my family and friends in emergencies
4) being able to spend without worry on things important to me. I spend way too much on my rescue pets. I can't put a price on that.
5) having the ability to spend on further educating myself
Fantastic
No rent? Where do you live? :O
@@ZosiaSamosiaOo well anywhere with a house that is paid for
@@kibbitznbitz I'm not American. Can you explain how you can live in a "paid for" house other than being on the brink of poverty and have it paid by state?
@@ZosiaSamosiaOo yes. You work to save money to pay for it in cash. Or you can inherit a house that is paid for like i did. My dad was a farmer and was never in debt in his life. People who are in poverty usually believe thats all that is possible.
My luxuries are:
1) frozen berries. Get them in their season, when they are best and not so expensive, and freeze them. I put them in ice-cream, in tea, in cake.
2) I live in Russia, so instead of ice water i have a thermopot.
3) treating my husband with homemade cakes. It feels luxurious to me, to be able to treat the person I love, to get thanks and kisses.
4) Taking care of my boots. Ensure that they will be in perfect condition, when I need them
5) getting unlimited pass fot public transport for 3 months. It is more expensive, yes, but we have great system of public transportation in Moscow, and I like, that I don't have to count my rides.
Таня Бирюкова all of your luxuries are wonderful, lovely and sweet!
@@SarahLizDoan Thanks))
Awww the cake idea sounds awesome! My boyfriend is Russian too - do you have any suggestions for a good recipe?
Blake Belladonna she mentioned that she lives in Russia. In season (summer) it is way less expensive (if not free) to get berries than to buy them frozen later.
Totally related to the number 5. It just takes incredibly long during rush hour to load the Troika card during rush hour and it's just feel pretty painful seeing the money in the card top off every time I tap it at the gate.
Chelsea: Eat al fresco!
Me: I have a balcony. I’m gonna watch this video al fresco.
that’s what i did!
Cool
Someone in New York probably climbed out onto the fire escape to eat dinner after watching this.
"Al fresco" in italian means in the cold and it's another way to say "in jail". I suggest "all'aperto" (uh-per-toh) which means open air.
@L.B. thank you!
Maybe it's Spanish (?)
Chelsey, I have really gained a lot of positive information from your videos. Unlike the millennials you speak to, I am a baby boomer, just about to turn 70. I want to create an incredible and productive retirement. I have to say, I am overwhelmed by trying to create that life you talk about. I was born in the lower middle class and although I have advanced degrees, global travel and rich life experience, I retired at the same strata I started at. If I would have stayed in the US, I would be homeless so I opted to move the beautiful city of Medellin Colombia. Here I can afford fresh flowers, fresh herbs and all my clothes tailored. But please tell me how to squeeze all these things in to create a wonderful life like yours. I feel l don't do well trying to do multiple things at one time. How do you do it? PS. Thanks to you I know save 15% of my social security check!
I have some additions (but I am the no candle at all type ;)):
- loose tea from the tea house. Tastes so much better and is actually cheaper as ready to use bag-tea
- Using the english tea-time tablewear also at some usual days. Not every day, but sometimes just for no reason. Aww, so pretty tablewear!
- Using more eye makeup than the society is used to.
- washing my car by hand instead of putting it into the automatic wash
- spices from the spice store instead out of the grocery store. It tastes better AND it is cheaper. The caring about it feels luxurious for me.
- using artist quality watercolors instead of student grade. When you are not a collector the difference is not very high.
- bread from the bakery instead of toast. That's a family thing for me, we never had any bakery bread. I hate toast.
- making a cappucchino with milk foam by myself at home. Starbucks wants 6€ for that, I make that for... 20 cents? And my taste is better, because I got the good decaff espresso from italy and that one from starbucks tastes like nothing
Such things can be very important, because saving money only for saving money is sometimes frustrating. I like your video!
Good list. My Bialetti coffee maker is a must luxury for me.
Are you sure you’re not my twin?!
I scrolled down looking for my tea twin and found you! Except for the car and watercolors you wrote up my list
Yes! I love using pretty china to drink my tea. :-) Also, I love making high-quality flavored coffee at home every now and then. Really makes me feel fancy.
I totally agree with the loose leaf tea and bakery bread, as well as the videos suggestion of tailored clothing, nice pajamas and condiments/herbs. I’d also add setting the table for dinner, using linen napkins, buying fresh flowers every Sunday, High quality chocolate and butter. Serving food in nice dish ware. Using an oil diffuser to have a nice smelling home. A nice comfy bed with clean and quality bedding. It’s all about the little pleasures in everyday life that make your day a bit more enjoyable rather than doing nice things only for special occasions. These don’t break the bank and are easily attainable.
About clothes
Buy them second hand even if they don't fit perfectly and then tailor them so they fit like they were tailored for you... wait..
That's huge money saver
always buy something a bit too large if you plan to tailor it, they can take seams in, but there's generally nothing to let out on modern clothes since we rarely tailor these days. And busty ladies: I always buy a medium shirt and take in the waist so there is extra fabric to prevent the designs from getting stretched horizontally and buckling. Works all the time. Also thrift stores are amazing, you can often find new-with-tags odds and ends because the 2 or 3 odd leftovers on the rack at the end of a season get donated to make room for the new stock. My husband scores 100% silk shirts that retail for $80-90 at Nordstrom for $3 because of this.
I like to take a place mat and real cutlery and plate to work for lunch. People always remark about it when they see it but I think my meal is special and should be enjoyed, even at work. Lol. 🥰
Love this 😊
I really like that. Nice!!!
Me too! I bring a cloth napkin too.
Kimberly Erickson haha me too! 😄
* Lotusblume * I love this!
A few more sophisticated, yet inexpensive "luxuries":
1. Charger plates---Dollar tree has them in gold and silver for $1. They dress up any table and you don't have to go through the hassle of moving anything; simply place your place on top--Voila!
2. Linen napkins--they're more environmentally friendly than the paper version and I simply spray them with disinfectant and stain remover and wash them in the dishwasher with the dishes.
3. Little night lights throughout the house. They add mood lighting and there's no need to turn on lights when going to the bathroom at night.
4. A complete hand washing "set" on your bathroom sink--the soap, hand scrub and lotion. It makes you fee like you're at a spa.
5. Good, firm, plush pillows. They're luxurious and prevent the cricks in the neck and body aches from an awkward night's sleep. You can find them on sale at places like Tuesday Morning.
6. Velvet hangers--a 25 pack for $10 from Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, etc.
7. Bidet attachment--Amazon has them as low as $25. Trust me, well worth it. Again, more environmentally friendly because you use very little toilet tissue.
*These are all I can think of off the top of my head, but feel free to leave more ideas!*
what's a charger plate
@@donalynwalsh876 The large, decorative plates that go under the dinner plate at a formal table setting. Google "table setting with charge plates", then click images.
Kick ass bed sheets. I have two sets of bamboo sheets. Yes, they were expensive. But I have never had sheets this amazing. And it is a game changer. I feel so rich in my fresh bamboo sheets with my down comforter and velvet duvet cover. I just feel like an Old Hollywood bombshell.
I absolutely agree with the bamboo sheets! I have a silk comforter as well; best investment ever!
Agree!! They tend to last longer too.
Cozy Home has very affordable bamboo sheets.
My little “cheap” luxuries include; healthy food and a good skin care routine, it will save you a fortune in prescriptions and makes you feel a bit special for not too much money. Also a decent spice collection and an at-home bar for “fancy” cocktail parties for a fraction of the cost of going out :)
My mom is so like this! My father and I like to live practical and cheap (saving napkins from fast food places, chilling in/using promotional items, using condiments from fast places, etc...) and my mom always gets on our ass for "acting poor" lol I dont understand it but now I do, small stuff really makes all the difference
I love when my house is organized. I've been working on my pantry lately, and I feel so fancy when it looks good.
I also love when my bra and panties match color. They don't have to be a "set" - just the same color.
I like nice socks, with no holes in them.
I like having a clean, pretty bed. Nothing feels better than sleeping on clean sheets!
Also, my family runs a local thrift store, and I've found SO much nice stuff there. Thanks to them, I'm sporting Tommy Hilfiger, and drinking out of my thrift-store wine glasses.
Toni Spaulding you could be my new bestie! Lol! Everything you said, I couldn’t agree with you more! Brilliant and true!
Yes! Nice socks are an underrated luxury.
A few more: Good Alcohol, nice linens, good coffee/tea with a good machine/method, little appliances that make your life genuinely easier/better (tub stopper, good toothbrush, nice phone case, good underwear, nice pillows, good nail polish, etc.)
I can't get enough of witty comments in the end of each list point from Chelsea. MORE SHADE CHELSEA PLEASE
Iryna Gil I agree, I always enjoy her videos!
I'm giving her shade for wasting peoples time with 'luxury items' like toilet paper and bobby pins! Long boring videos from her compared to other TFD presenters.
Anyone who has the time AND 'enjoy' her videos needs to get a life Lol
Mine is lip balm. I have one everywhere!
Same
Same- addicted
Lip balm in every bag. In my car. On my work desk. On every side/coffee table in my apartment. In my pencil case. In the lil bowl where I keep my keys. Lip balm everywhere.
can i have some
Live plants, a good system to listen to music on.
Super grateful for this channel.
I may not always be able to incorporate everything, but it's a great prompt to re-examine my financial habits. Everyday financial education is a hard skill set to master. We are not taught these basics in secondary school and it's hard to distinguish between what habits from your parents you should adopt and which one's you shouldn't; so much emotional clutter to clean through.
All this to say: Thank you Chelsea :)
it is so nice to see someone on youtube not advocating that i buy an $80 candle. i thought i was the only one who liked the candles at marshalls and homegoods! you're awesome
It’s all about the little things in life. Be grateful for what you have and you’ll feel whole 😌
I would like to add a coffee bean grinder and a French Press. With a coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond, and a trip to TJ Maxx- mine came out to $50 and I love trying new roasters in my area, and French Press coffee is always insta worthy. And it’s still cheaper than coffee shops.
Bottles of lemon/lime juice do have a place, in canning! When a canning recipe calls for lemon or lime juice, you want to use the bottles, because the citric acid content is consistent. If you were to squeeze fresh lemons or limes, the acid levels can vary from fruit to fruit, throwing off a vital bacteria-killing element in the recipe.
1.) I like nice flannel sheets ( one set per bedroom).
2.) A clean home
3.) A clean car
4.) Everything always smelling good, including myself !
I agree with every word in this video. Absolutely loving your content, Chelsea.
For me, this kind of luxury is good quality tea - I have hundreds kinds of it, tea just helps me relax and feel warm and cozy. Right now I'm drinking rose tea with French vanilla :)
Karolina Wąsowska Rose tea by Tulsi is by far my favorite! Try it if you haven’t 😊
Yes! Tulsi Rose Tea Coconut Milk Lattes is Bliss!
For me, it's good cocoa! For others, maybe coffee! Having a drink or treat of choice is super luxurious.
I'll add bath bombs - I buy tons of them and keep them in a cute basket right by the tub and just looking at it makes you feel luxurious, but also they are within arms reach when you want to take a luxurious bath. Also, a bathtub caddy is one of the best things ever! I love being able to put candles on it, a good book, wine, snacks etc - and if you've come this far you should also get a nice bath pillow
I need a caddy!!!
Chelsea's bringing the sass and I AM HERE FOR IT!
definitely agree, I have some things to add:
. simple/dainty gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry
. house plants (like bamboo plants for decor or herbs, like basil)
. consistent homeware (identical glass jars, dishware sets)
. nice trays (decor) as a catch-all for keys/etc in open spaces at home
. cute sun hat or caps
. 1-2 pairs of sunglasses and/or glasses you look good in
. nice leather belt
. simple, non-designer purse, bag, or backpack made of leather or canvas
. comfortable lounge and sleep wear
. upgraded clothes hangers (like wood or the velvet ones)
. fancy ice cream/gelato
. make your own (fancier) version of oats or trail mix (with fancier nuts or chocolate)
. fancy olive oil and
. nice body lotion / hand/cuticle cream
. face masks (clay, peel off, hydrating)
. good eye drops (if you stare at a computer like I do)
. a nice signature perfume/cologne
. milk frother if you drink lattes
. nice coffee machine or pour over coffee apparatus if you drunk
. good water filter
. good water boiler
. good blender or juicer
. nice tea
. good tea strainer and tea set
. fresh bread from the bakery
. hanging garment steamer or steam iron for clothes
. good mattress, pillow, blankets and couch
. upgraded bedroom/bathroom lighting
This list is SO FRENCH 😂 I live in France and everything in this list is what everyone pretty much does all the time plus sexy lingerie to boot
It’s incredibly European, I thought. Full disclosure: I’m in the U.K. and yes, we’ve been total idiots recently. But things like nice sleepwear, a well-stocked kitchen, wine glasses for wine, cooking at home, print magazines... these are the things that make normal life pleasant! Lots of love to you in France! Xxx
I found out where all the bobby pins go one day when my roommate opened the vacuum cleaner!
*The free luxury that make me feel richer is Chelsea’s videos from TFD :)*
Cherry Tung - The Frugal Designer Handbag Lover 🙋🏻♂️
Hello guys wish you have the best day of your lives today. No matter who you are and where u live. As long as you are a live, there's always a hope..
Thanks
Lots of good vibes from Kenya Africa 🇰🇪
Thanks from Uganda
Thanks...You too
Thank you from Arizona! Much love.
Thanks and love from Argentina 🇦🇷
I can confirm that this list is very accurate. I was $40k+ in debt and when I came out of it I realised that sometimes its more about giving yourself permission to buy too many hair ties (in my case).
Being broke all the time means having to count your hair ties and making sure you know exactly where your 4 or 5 of them are. These little luxuries add up to an overall feeling of choice and comfort, when being deep in debt you're always beating yourself up. Another great post Chelsea!
Thrift for wine glasses!
Or use cute upcycled jam jars! 😻
Picnics in a park are always great imo. Pretend to be those fancy victorian ladies on their picnic blankets sipping tea and eating cucumber sandwiches...
The Importante of Being Earnest
This was such a good video. I was just going through my budget and feeling down because I cut internet at home and Netflix since they're luxuries I don't want to afford while carrying debt. There's still so many things I CAN have though, and it was really nice to get a reminder.
Baegels Check our your library, mine updates the tv and movie collection every few months based on the requests of card-holders. Also, what about splitting the cost of Netflix (or equivalent) with family/friend?
@@shaquicedacosta Thanks for the suggestions! I live in a small town in Germany though and the library barely has a collection of English books and no online service at all.
I already did split my Netflix bill, too, but didn't have enough people to cover enough slots. I also didn't think I would feel that strong about cutting it as I did. I might activate it again, but only AFTER I find 4 other people who all actually pay their share.
@Dorothy Preventa Yeah, I plan on doing just that! I already have a phone plan that has unlimited data. The connection will be bad on cloudy days, but it might work well enough and is definitely worth a try!
Keeping live plants in your living space is something I do. Some ppl hate watering but I find value in it. It gives you time to appreciate and focus on those plants.
P. S. - a faux plant in a shower or place w no light is also nice
I would also add movies at the park if your city has one. NYC has a lot of that during the summer and I love it because most of it is free, there is a fun atmosphere and if you bring food it feels so indulgent.
Also joining a book club or some type of activity group that is very low cost. I was apart of a doctor who meet up group and it was so much fun! It kind of fell off after awhile but it felt like a party while it was happening!
Drinking out of a wine glass makes a huge difference .. even drink my protein shake out of a wine glass . Ya I’m extra 😂
I'm so glad someone is putting adequate emphasis on the importance of sleep. I have ADHD, which, like bipolarity, doctors claim often comes with "comorbid" sleep disorders. They reason that if you're, for example, anxious or depressed, of COURSE you'll have a hard time sleeping. For me, the narcolepsy comes first. If I don't sleep well, I'm very ADHD the next day. If I sleep well, I'm much more coherent. I have so much to say on this subject that I'd better shut now and go write a book.
I'm like my grandma when it comes to containers. Her rubbers are is butter tubs and cottage cheesebtubs and such that she cleaned after she finished using them. She also keeps all her pasta jars and anything she got that came in a jar amd thats how she saved money and after living with her for 1 to 2 years I picked up that tip and I also keep all the sauce packets from restaurants and because me and my boyfriend like to go to Panda Express when we have the money, we know have a stock pile of sauces from there so there's no need to buy a whole bottle of soy sauce. Thanks Grandma!! You dah real OG!!
You should make a video only using Mark’s impression
This LOL
YES!
Pretty tablemats, table runners, table cloths, pretty coasters, pretty glasses and silverware etc. Specially when they are cheap but look expensive.

Basically : live like we do in Europe ! :'D
Hey madame lol So true! Couldn’t believe some things Americans do when I moved here😂
@@aberdeen0107 omg make a list! 😀
So true!
LMAO
@@kibbitznbitz yes please @aberdeen it would honestly be a help. I'd like to understand the Americans better and so much media assumes their culture as the default, their idea of 'normal' usually doesn't get printed out or explained
I'm surprised you didn't mention good tea!
I was just wanting to do a blog post/vlog about this exact topic.. But I am not a blogger or UA-camr so thanks for saving me the effort😂
I love having my home be a comfortable place of beauty and little luxuries. I've always lived within my means (and never had a lot of money to begin with) but I think it's so important to fill your life with these little treats. Because life is the little things.
For fancy snacks/sweets/condiments/pantry items try Tjmaxx! They always have imported goodies from France, Germany, Italy. And a lot of times you'll find those on clearance too.
You are so right about investing in sleep! Bf and I recently invested in a much better mattress and it does done wonders. However, I still contend that the $50 I spent on a good white noise machine was one of the best gifts I've given myself!
I have some additions, too:
-antiques. Large or small, one or two high quality pieces can make you feel VERY rich. I was lucky enough to inherit a few amazing pieces from my mom. They have been in my family since before I was born. You can find some antiques very cheaply at yard sales, thrift stores, Facebook/Craigslist/etc. People don't know what they have, so many times, these items will be priced very reasonably.
-one very nice set of china. I inherited a whole china cabinet's worth from my mom, but I kept just one set. We haven't used it yet, but we may use it after I move. I chose the pattern that most closely fits my personality and tastes. Like with antiques, you can find some decent china priced very reasonably.
The Marc impersonation KILLED me 😂😂😂😂
I miss the days when 3 of my roommates worked at the movie theater and all 5 of us could see every movie for half priced popcorn and free tickets
When she did her husband's accent 😂
I always feel good when I run out of something and realize I have a backup. I feel so adult lol
I’d add that if you’re cooking a lot, a good knife is a very practical luxury.
My budget friendly luxuries:
- Spotify account ( family account I share w/ 4 other people)
- Good coffee beans
- Loose leaf tea
- Cheese
Sameeeee
Yes!! How do you always have the exact content we need to hear at the exact right time? UA-cam whisperer! I just argued with myself at the grocery store about buying a fancy salad dressing. I ended up getting it and I don’t regret it. It doesn’t cost too much to upgrade your life, even if it’s one condiment at a time. 😊
Try using a tic tax container to corral the Bobby pins!!
Okay also STERLING SIVER JEWELRY it’s really not that expensive, super nice, and lasts forever.
Also, if you miss magazines but do not want to spend money on them, check out your local library. They likely have issues you can check out for free.
Love your videos Chelsea! As someone who is very eco-conscious, I love it when you include tips on being eco-friendly into your videos - just a suggestion for future content
This video is gold! 2019 has been my year of finding how to find exactly these things! One thing I have also found is a digestif. I made some homemade limoncello (super easy) and nothing feels classier than having a little sip of limoncello at the end of a nice meal, or even take out :)
I agree on the eating outdoors, I just came from an bonfire, total price around 5 dollars for 3 persons and I have leftowers.
High quality chocolate.
Yes. Ferrero Rocher
Thank you...I've been back here a half-dozen times to listen intently for all the peacefulness in EXERCISING TOWARD FINANCIAL FITNESS and feeling marvelous about it! ✨💖✨ Your other videos helped me: budget, reduce debt, decrease credit card spending ... LESS plastic + better cash management = improved FICO score... YIPPEE!!!
“Nothing is richer than unlimited bobby pins” not only the single greatest quote I’ve laid ears on, but also one I desperately want on a shirt! Thanks Chelsea! 🤣😍
Visiting my country house at least twice a month from April to November. Going to the public bath with warm mineral water there. Yoga in the yard. Pilates or yoga everyday in the dining room after work, following UA-cam videos (Boho Beautiful and old-school Winsor Pilates). Moderate healthy eating-avocados and coconut water are my splurge. Getting fitted clothes from Mom's wardrobe from the 70s-80s.
Staniela Tungarova boho beautiful every day! Love her/them for yoga and meditation
Good video and suggestions. I do the fresh citrus, discount candles, print magazines, started a raised bed garden with my fav veggies, and filled my dining room space with gorgeous plants. Plants, a clean home, and spicy fresh home cooked meals in a cheap but reliable crockpot make me feel like I'm living in luxury. ....and unlimited hair ties.
its been years now since i took modeling and sewing classes and got myself a domestic sewing machine, now, most of my clothes are way better looking after the fine adjustments i made. Its amazing, i love doing it and i saves a bunch of money. I also have some pieces that i've made them myself!
My favorite thing: Buying carefully selected second hand (or new old stock) luxury classics. It might be a luxury watch, jacket/coat or a piece of furniture. They are not always be cheap to initially buy but they last so much longer and feel so great. And the cost of ownership over the years might actually be lower than with cheap stuff.
Chelsea, I LOVED the sass in this video! I too roam through the aisles of Home Goods to stock up on candles.
PS - downloaded your book a few minutes ago and really looking forward to reading it over the weekend!
This may be my favorite of all the TFD videos I have seen. Highlights are the satin nightgown because it is just so over the top, the hubby impersonation, and the description of yellow mustard. Brava and hahaha!!!
Wow! I have already implemented so many things on this list as I'm saving for a house. De-cluttering, cooking at home, and enjoying snacks and coffee al fresco 😉 while reading have made me enjoy staying at home way more often.
I can’t believe how brazen your friends are to steal your tampons in bulk or other items from your house. If someone did that to me they would never be invited back.
I'd love to see your jars/storage! I need inspiration.
An abundance of that item. I so agree with this. I find with every day things it pays to not run out of things - I’ll back it up so this doesn’t happen and it really does make you feel like you’ve got your proverbial together.
Other than that for me these are:
- Nice bed linen (I have a single bed in a student flat and still sleep on 1000TC sheets)
- Nice stationery
- Fresh air
:)
For me it's the lighting (fairy lights), nice bedroom scent, good tea before sleep and fresh linen.
I'm for fresh herbs and condiments. But if you have a local library card you can download RB digital app and get so much magazine for free..plus its more eco-conscious. I love the bobby pin one 😹.i'm struggling with that right now. I need some in my life.
with respect to bobby pins: If you get bobby pins from a professional supplier you both will get higher quality bobby pins and tons of them for relatively little money. I got a box of 500 or so by asking my hairdresser to order some for me too when they were ordering for their shop, but you can also probably get them from Sally beauty supplies or online. Especially for someone with thick hair like me the professional ones are just worlds better than the drugstore ones - they hold better, they don't scratch, they don't stretch out so I can use them over and over again. So. Much. Better.
Also if you happen to have an empty Gutterman Bead container they make perfect holders for a handful of bobby pins to go in your bag (or safety pins).
I love every one liner that concludes each point. I also love each point and the video idea!
reducing my waste has helped me feel much richer and more luxurious because I'm never using crap disposable products and I never run out of reusable things
I just got a new magazine subscription and I am so excited seeing thus video. I can't wait to feel like a sophisticated rich adult.
I 👏 am 👏 creating 👏 a 👏 mood!! Get it girl! Love ya Chelsea!
We aren't super rich but I have made it a point to maintain an organic garden in my backyard. It is such a great feeling when one is able to pick fresh fruits and herbs fr her backyard for cooking and serving meals right on our covered patio. It's a taste of paradise!
One thing people should consider if they like candles is that both people and pets should not be breathing in artificial fragrances. Go on to some of these green sites and find healthy, clean burning candles that use only things like essential oils. I personally don't use them, but would like one or two. They are expensive however.
