- My top 10 favourite beam workers. Sorry about the quality of Grigoras' double front, I HAD to include it! Nearly included: Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, Liu Xuan, Jana Beiger and I'm 99.9% sure that Sui Lu will be here in about a year.

Good choice for # 1. Shannon Miller was definitely an excellent beam worker. What I like about her, she stuck all of her landings. She never even paused to see if she stuck it, she just stood up.
Some of these girls looked like they were literally floating through the air, absolutely amazing.
Ooh, Shannon! She is just so good! I really wish the "Miller" hadn't been stricken from the code, it's just so gorgeous!
I would have also included Catalina Ponor. Her style is unique and so confident...
Agree.
Actually, Catalina may have been the best beam worker when she was in her prime
WOW komova's pass starting at 2:52 is absolutely sick.
She is really light and confident on the beam, plus she is British so I am biased and was very excited that there was a Brit with an arabian and a two foot layout! Thanks
I was very impressed with Cristina Grigoras, I mean, a front somersault with half turn? double front dismount? that was very ahead of her time... now I can see why she is one of your favorites
The title says 'top ten FAVOURITE', not 'top ten most recent Olympic Champions'.
I'd have Tatiana Gutsu as one of my favorites. Her routines from the 91 Worlds up to the 92 Olympics had combined jam-packed difficulty that was ahead of its time. I think it would've been good enough to have a start value of 9.7 back in Athens 2004.
Very impressed but where is the best beam worker of all time ? Catalina Ponor surely she should be in the top 3
Love your choices, I'm happy someone included Gina Gogean in his favorites, some times people seem a little harsh on her
What a great mix of styles :) I love seeing other people's favorites.
And for those saying 'Oh where is this gymnast and that gymnast?'... This is her favorites list not yours.
Good, but it shoud've been Catalina Ponor on 1st Place
Catalina was at times extremely inconsistent on beam, and had very little in the way of originality. Shannon had a huge amount of variation- especially for her era- and was absolutely on point nearly every time. Not everything on beam is about Ponor- there are plenty who are far better.
Dude, the poster didn't upload your favorite 10 she uploaded her own favorite 10.
If you aren't happy with her post then go post your own. You know the saying, don't get made (I'm sure you meant mad), get even.
Nice list! Very interesting. I have to admit I'm confused by the inclusion of Marissa King, but I suppose every fan has their random favorites. Mine is Stefani Bismpikou. :)
I agree with the choice of carly.she is really good on this event.
Catalina Ponor, Shown Johnson and of course Nadia Comaneci and her 2 olympic gold medals on Beam.
I agree I wish I was a good videographer make a really the best list you know you have to have someone who has the full twisting back-handspring on the beam if they're the best beam workers no one of the top 10 had a full twisting back-handspring like sabet lotta orkina or Catalina p*** are and of course Shawn Johnson was just insane on the beam and for her not to be on the list but Gina go John to be really makes me mad
Great selection! Thanks for the video :)
We all have our own favorites but I agree with most !!
LEARN TO READ. These are her favorites. Kui was always overscored on beam. All she did was bobble and Mo was a head case. IF they hit, If because they rarely ever did especially Mo
There is something special about yang bo
es imperdonable no haber puesto a Catalina Ponor y Daniela Silivas
I know I saw that, and my mouth was like WHA. I'm becoming a fan.
You have much better taste than most of these shawn-and-nastia-over-all fanatics:)
There’s nothing wrong with either of those athletes either, no need to bash!! It’s no different than the people who constantly talk about Komova or Khorkina who were as consistent as nothing but are still looked at as a beam goddesses.
@cleicsioluek Yah at the time I made this I hadn't seen much of Sui Lu but I think if I made it now she would be like, 4th or something. But I do like Marissa King.
I agree Kui deserved the gold in that finals but people seem to hate on Gina for that. It wasn't her fault, it's the code as you said and it's what the romanians did at this time, routines difficult enought to start out of a 10 but easy enough to hit every time. It was not a spectacular strategy for sure but it was efficient.
i find some of your choices insane ... but no criticism intended!
Ohashi may just shock the whole world!!!!!
Where is Shawn Johnson?!?
Yang Bo is the best!
UA-camLover If you mean best as in “most overrated gymnast ever,” then you’re right!
@TurboPhantom411 Silivas is ok, Dobre got to be number one in my all around top 10 so she got booted from the others :P
Cool, what's the name of the song?
@GibranisCoolurnot Lovers in Madrid by Armik :)
@chocolatefan1711 That was last November/December.
Yang Bo number 9 but Miller number 1? I don't get that at all.
Miller is the authors second fave gymnast behind Dobre herself. It's just an opinion, and Miller is great on beam (though imo not Yang Bo level great).
Yang Bo shouldn’t even be on this list. She’s hit maybe 2 routines when it counted. She sucks. Miller has all her hardware and accolades to back her #1 spot up.
@Littlerockets12 Did you watch the entire video? AureliaDobreFan put an American as his/her number one beam worker!
Dudnik number 1
Please read the title?
I know right?
Kui did not deserve thyat gold medal. She bobbled through the whole routine. If you chose to do the difficulty and you can't hit that is your fault. No one loves Gogean but she was consistent and hit. Kui did not
MeanGym Fan I love Gina though. She is unique and her style isn't ugly, almost everybody else had the same style. Kui is a fantastic beam worker but Gina is amazing
I do like Gina but was never a fan of her beam. Kui had a better routine but under that code she could not beat Gina's routine with that many errors. It was a flaw of the judging system, but the judging itself was correct and adhered to the rules of the 97' code.
@plamenlichev Well clearly I disagree..
@ElodieMariecee I had them assassinated. Sorry :(
If you are seriously asking me where they are, you clearly haven't even watched the video, cause they aren't in it
Where is Nadia Comaneci and Olga Korbut? 😟
I think you've completely lost it to have Gina go John up there instead of Svetlana khorkina or Nadia Comaneci
First of all, this is THIS individual’s list of people- not yours you child. Secondly, Khorkina in particular was ridiculously inconsistent on beam, bobbling her way through countless routines- that ultimately cost her medals. Gogean may not have had the most “exciting” routines but she was insanely consistent.
carly patterson...meh...the most forgettable olympic champion everrrrrr.
But her beam work was very light, and lovely, and her dismount, which she nailed in that championship was spectacular.
@QPHashSS77 I agree entirely.
Carly is still talked about today as a great Olympic champion, someone who created the most difficult dismount off beam there is. Much like Nastia, Gabby, Simone, and now Suni she earned her place in gymnastics history and is considered one of the sport’s legends. She is certainly more memorable than you ever will be.
A list of beam workers without Shawn and Catalina? 🥲
