I dont think most of the users would use the dominoes in their full potential without Sedge, you are invaluable teacher in the woodworking community and teach us in depth about the versatility of the dominoes, thank you so much for your educational videos and if festool sees these comments they should treasure you in the company because no doubt you are the right person for the product who actually knows what's talking about

Sedge, another great video, thank you. I’ve been to Cabinet class in Lebanon and Asheville and every time I watch one of your videos. I still learn something new! I’d love to see a training video from you on how to scribe a cabinet to a wall. I’m always confused by how to leave enough to scribe while still keeping the front edge flush.

I never thought I’d own a Domino but I ran into a deal on Craigslist where I got a XL7 DF 700 set with cross stop trim stop and cutter that had never been used for $900. Sedge’s videos are taking years out of the learning curve. Thank you.

Great video Sedge! Might suggest that in the future you use the letter P (for plate) instead of X when marking your work. Might help reenforce the concept for new users. Besides, everyone else uses X.

When you get one, you'll kick yourself for not getting it sooner. The purchase price is a bit of pain and sacrifice, but the payback is every time you use it -- and that payback in time saved, and in accuracy, is HUGE.

The Domino is working well. Just added the 700. What a BEAST!!
Still the question remains, does the glue go on the Domino or in the pocket or both?
    Great videos by the way.

open the back of the machine with the torx 15 and check if your tension spring of the switch is misplaced, cause i noticed the switch didnt retract back. If this is the case, the next thing is that youll find the spring stuck on the armature while rotating and its costly. Secure the spring with some hotglue and its fine

The TSO support bracket is nice, but you lose the 20mm stops that are found on the Festool bracket. Now if TSO could put those in . . . .

    • @WelshRabbit

jt, Agreed! When I need those 20 mm flip down stops is the only time I use the OEM Festool bracket in place of my TSO Big Foot.

    Hello Sedge,
Thank you for your viedos. They are outstanding and helping novices, like me, to use this exceptionel machine.
As mentioned, your videos at the festool channel and in this channel published are really helpful and educational.
They helped me to minimise the beginners mistakes but also to understand the tool and how to utilise it at its best.
Can you give me an advice to a special problem?
How to alighn the DF500 an a vertical mounted plywood wall, e.g. in the middle of the wall? I would like to install a tray by using 8mm Domino dowels.
The challenge is, how to keep the the mortises in line over a longer distance and how to reference
    I do appreciate your advice.
Thanks a lot. Have a nice day.
Kind regards and best wishes from Bern (Switzerland) -- Andreas

I haven't used my domino a lot. . I have tried using the flaps and the indexing accessory and have had nothing but, disastrous results so I only use it with things I mark lines on. With that I always look straight down to line my marks with the little hole and shadows can be an issue with that.
Can you see that line looking through the center of the plate like you did early in this video?
I'm not near the domino currently or I would bust it out to look.

Thanks Sedge, sometimes you’re shown something so obvious you feel like kind of a dummy!
I’ve been lining the OEM foot by eye, and as soon as you laid it on a flat surface and screwed it on I thought that’s it!
I’ve already ordered the TSO big foot, thank you!

Sedge, I often use the TSO "Big Foot" on my DF 500 for making vertical mortises except when I need the flip down stops on the original Festool support bracket. But I really don't understand the necessity (or even the advantage) of Seneca's "Domi-plate." I don't own one, but I do own the Woodpecker's version (the Offset Base set) with the different height and wing and flip-down-stop options. However, I admit to never having actually used my Woodpecker's Offset Base for anything other than a few fun or practice cuts, and I never felt the need for it in actual production work. Is it perhaps that early users of the Domino machines had trouble tightening the height of the plate so that it sometimes slipped? I've never experienced (at least yet -- knock on wood), plate slippage either on my 500 or my 700 Domino mortiser.
On a different topic, I really appreciate your more relaxed and thorough style of presentation here. I hope the "suits" (metaphorically speaking, as I know they don't actually wear suits) on your Friday show are not pressuring you to rush to meet an arbitrary time limit. When you get rushed and out of breath on that other show, it distracts from the quality of your presentation. You need to be allowed sufficient time to adequately cover the subject matter without feeling rushed. If your topic needs an hour, you should have an hour --- and as I tell everyone, an hour with Sedge, and the team, is an hour very well spent in my opinion.

Thanks you sooo much ....I believe the support bracket with the dominos is GREAT especially for the 20mm wings..... There is a place for both ...
