    The level of excitement I feel whenever I see you post a new video is astronomical. Also, congrats on the BioWare Gear ambassadorship! I’ve purchased from there many times and they are great! Love my N7 hoodie and Commander Shepard helmet.

    Can we all please just a moment to enjoy something that never seems to get the attention it deserves, I am talking about the most badass title in modern history in Thedas. "The Rebel Queen". We live in a post Star Wars timeline and that title just tells me EVERYTHING I could ever need or want to know about Moira and just how much I am on her side.

    Probably one of the many reasons why Logan let Cailan die is because of Celene. In just a few decades, Ferelden would be under Orlesian control once again, but not through military conquest, but with marriage.

    • @kake1604
      @kake1604 3 місяці тому +2

      Which was stupid. A political marriage would’ve honestly been a smart move by Cailan.

    I never knew the history of the two nations because the games were always AHHHHH DARK SPAWN, AHHHH MAGES, AHHHHH DARKSPAWN MAGISTER!
    But now I understand loghain's hatred for Orlais. Though it seems odd that most Fereldenias revere the Orlais Chantry and Divine. I wonder if Ferelden ever thought of having their own Chantry and Divine.

    Orlais abandoning the conquest of an entire nation because of a lover’s quarrel is a very Orlesian thing to do honestly.

    Glad to gave you back, Caitie! It's always a treat when you post, and I think everyone understands that sometimes IRL things happen and we can't really control it. Anyway, awesome way to come back and great video!
    A few things I'd like to say in 'defence' of my trashfire faux-french people.
    - You didn't mention the family change between the first invasion and the second one. The first invasion was done by the Drakon family, who was still in charge of Orlais at that point, and then after the Fourth Blight and an undated Civil War in Orlais during the Exalted Age, the Valmonts rose to the throne. Which makes Reville's assault of Ferelden even more baffling, because you usually need a _causus belli_ to attack a country. If Reville had been a Drakon he might have gotten away with some by claiming ancient history or whatever, but being of an entirely different family did him no favours. Also i'd like to point out that besides Ferelden, which was a war mounted by someone thought to be suffering from some sort of mental issue (considering Reville's whole paranoia thing at the end), the Valmonts have been kinda chill about conquering stuff tbh. (If you don't count Gaspard. And Celene, who is a lil different than the others on how she wants to do it but the spirit is certainly there)
    - Etienne I had another wife before the Nevarran Princess he dumped. Etienne and his unnamed first wife were married 17 years and he only let go of her, iirc, because of the court's pressure to have a child and she wasn't giving him one. So, he made a marriage contract with Nevarra - we don't know what happened to that first wife, tho - and likely, it had a clause about having children. Then, they were married 10 years with no kids. There is historical precedent to setting aside wives because they don't give you an heir, and even when they do but it isn't the gender you want, and even more historical precedent for putting them in convents because they are a thorn on your side *-cough, cough-* -Henry VIII- *-cough, cough-* and very few people started a war over it. Though to be fair, Henry VIII kinda made changes to the church that made the whole 'put-my-spanish-wife-who-is-the-aunt-of-the-holy-roman-emperor-in-a-convent' kinda of a moot point.
    My point is. Etienne was probably a dick and he certainly didn't have to put her in a convent, but starting a war over that kinda falls on the Nevarran side tbh. My further point is, we know she went back to Nevarra at some point and is probably buried in the Grand Necropolis. Let me talk to her, Bioware.
    - Also, isn't Perandele still like _'Come get me, Orlais, I am right here!'_ ? I feel like that's also ~foreshadowing for something.

    I do hope that the Stolen Throne, along with the Culling, Asunder, Masked Empire, Last Flight and Tevinter Nights all get tv adaptations in animated form someday. Probably in the same form as Dragon Age Absolution.

    considering how heavily tied to the Chantry Orlais is it wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to claim Denerim because it was the birthplace of Andraste, it would make it similar to how the Crusades wanted to conquer Jerusalem for Jesus

    • @Grayghost04
      @Grayghost04 Рік тому +2

      Chantry giving up the support for Orlais in the late stage of the war also could stem from the similar reasoning. By that time, Andrastianism firmly established itself as the main religion of Ferelden, so "spiritually", they conquered the birthplace of Andraste and had no reason to support Orlais' brutal occupation anymore.

    Does anyone else rationalise why Orlais wants Fereldan is due too the lyruim trade? Since Orzammars surface entrance is firmly in Fereldan it makes sense that fereldan makes a fortune taxing Orzammars exports and imports, especially since the World of Thedas relies so heavy on dwarves mining lyruim. I know in lore the Chantry control the lyruim trade but I highly doubt a nation would allow such a lucrative opportunity pass by them.

    You claimed that Anora was barren but I disagree it’s actually Cailan that was barren. It is said in Dragon Age Origins that Cailan had mistresses but there were no child bastards. So my dude was just shooting blanks.

    • @MFenix206
      @MFenix206 2 роки тому +3

      could be because of the blight Rowan was exposed to that ultimately killed her... but then again, Anora doesn't have any children with Allistar or a Noble warden either, granted both of them were tainted too...

    • @xenon8117
      @xenon8117 Рік тому +2

      I like the idea that Empress Celene had an Orlesian bard poison Anora to make her barren. Totally needless headcanon of mine but it’s what I’d do if it was possible.

      @@TheCorrodedMan Wait, they do? What’s the name of the place? Also, if the inquisition does have a country…Then why Ferelden and Orlais were trying to disband/serve them? Why couldn’t the Inquisition just go back to their own country since Ferelden was complaining about the inquisition troops being on their border?

    • @NehnBellanaris

      @@TheCorrodedMan There's also the piece of land that we're capable of gaining through War Table campaigns after talking to the Dowager in Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts.

      @@yc_knight6370 Well it’s technically only ours because we live on it, not because it’s been legally acquired. After Haven fell, the Inquisition(along with its considerable refugee train) just kind of…settled down around Skyhold. I don’t think anyone had the guts to tell us to leave _until_ the events of Trespasser.
