    Great video and information! My Dish Trav'ler has a manufacture date of 070218. Will this upgrade allow access to the 61.5 satellite? Right now I use a VIP-211K receiver. Sometimes I have to switch to the 61.5 satellite so all of my local channels are in high definition. I just have to run a "check switch" test when switching back and forth. Will the Hopper 3 and this upgrade allow for switching to the 61.5? Please let me know. Thank you.

    Just bought a new to me RV with the travler. Do I need the 42
    Switch to use a dish wally? I used it with my tailgater antenna with no problems. Tried to hook it up to travler and it will not work. Looking for help.

    Dave - I converted my Direct Sat dish to Dish via a kit from Winegard this July. The controller is a 2014 model. What do think are my chances that I have the correct LNB?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 років тому

      You would need to do my other video tutorial for the Hopper 3. It is the turret that needs the correct boards in it. Guessing you did not replace the entire turret and just was the dish, arm, and LNB. As such, you would still have the older hardware in it. Here is the other video if you had not seen it... ua-cam.com/video/l4ap0RqEsI0/v-deo.html

    Just to be clear, is your unit an 18? The procedure you did before the kit works for older units right?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 років тому +1

      Hi Chris...My entire unit has been replaced and is a March 2018 unit as shown on the SN which was from my unit. The first video I did will work for ANY unit, new or older. This one is just less costly and a cleaner install if you have a 2018 unit. Worked with Winegard on doing this setup to be sure it was correct and would work just fine with the new Hybrid LNB. When I did the first video, I still had my original unit still up on the roof and then after I did it it, I had fun changing it out. Not that it was hard to do, the hard part was getting the unit up and down from the roof. The good news us I could still use the same base plate.

    Will that work for connecting the hopper 3

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  4 роки тому +1

      I am sorry, have no idea. How old is your Trav'ler? You might of bought the wrong kit and could have just bought one that came with a western arc Hybird LNB and a Solo Hub vs getting the switch as it is not needed with the Hybird LNB. The LNB that is on the older trav'lers need the switch and Solo Hub, so not sure why you would have bought a new dish kit with a LNB. So hard to try to help as I really am not sure what you even have. If you don't down a Trav'ler, are are just asking about what you just bought, then I guess the same thing comes to mind...why not just a tripod kit with a hybird LNB vs needing to use the switch?

      @@DavidBott Thank you, that's all I needed to know.
      I watched you first you tube video about hooking up the travel 1000 with the 42 switch and hub so I thought I would have to have one no matter what.
      I bought a 1000.2 western arc ( without hybid) the 42 switch and hub.
      I'll return it and buy the ( hybrid 1000.2 dish and keep the hub so I can hook up the hopper.

    The hopper and LNB vendors on AZ (that you link to) are out of stock. I found both on WaMxRxT online. Got a new dish from WG. Someone in the comments on WM said I still get a 15$ a month modem service charge from Dish even if I own?? Is that true? Only thing left to do now is put it all up once it comes and hope Dish turns it on .

    So I just received a June 2018 trav’ler, I got installed. When I checked lnb cables it has port 1 on lnb to port c on torrent , it has port 2 on lnb going to port a on torrent , I have my cable plugged into port c and run to hybrid solo hub , then to hopper and joey. My trav’ler is only getting sat 119 . But my hopper has been running the installation test for about a hour. What should I do from here ?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 років тому

      Did you buy a Hybrid LNB as it does not come with one and the Hopper 3 requires the 1000.2 DishPro Hybrid (DPH) ---> amzn.to/2xPqsDz

    • @jeremydenhamrealtor9233
      @jeremydenhamrealtor9233 5 років тому

      So I will get this new head ordered , with the new head do I need to install the dph42 switch ? Or just hook to port c ?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 років тому

      Hi...Did you see the video? :) There are TWO ways to use a Hooper 3, if you have a 42 switch, it will work for any DISH Trav'ler but it is a totally different install and thus another video I did that was referenced. If you have a 2018+ unit, as you do, then you would want to go with the Hybrid LNB I referenced and install it/wire it as mentioned and you will be just fine. Not only is it much less expensive, but it makes for a much cleaner install as you do not need the 42 switch on the roof and won't need the BIG power supply it has. So get the LNB I referenced and you will be good. You said you have the HyBrid Solo Hub, so that is good as you need one. Once you have it all in place, run the test again on the Hooper 3 and you should get all 3 sats. (Assuming your dish is pointed as it needs to be and has clear sky to see all three.) Take care.

  • @postergod2001
    @postergod2001 5 років тому

    I called Winegard to order that part and they said it is not a Hybrid LMB just a replacement and no matter what I need to use the switch to use my hopper 3

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  5 років тому

      Nope...see my other reply to you. There are TWO different LNB's you can use depend on when your unit was manufacturer. If older that 2018, the you use the LNB it has, but with a DP42 switch and Hybrid LNB. If it is a 2018+ unit, then you replace the LNB with a new LNB I referenced and also still need a Hybrid Solo Hub. See the notes with links in the description.

      I have a home dish, it looks to be the hybrid, I am going to give it a shot. My winegard I just got today has a number (27688890510181043) so this should work. sorry about the other comment I posted to the wrong place. If it works, I can send back the DPH42 switch once it comes in.

      Hi David
      New to Dish in my RV
      I followed your updates with my pre-2018 Trav’ler.
      I replaced the LNB, arm and reflector, added the DPH42 and power inserter and Hybrid solo hub.
      When I run test installation my Hopper 3 recognizes the DPH42 but only shows 2 SATs, 110 and 119.
      Trav’ler control box shows 3 SAT’s with asterisks.
      Any suggestions?

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  3 роки тому

      @@porthole2 In that case, seeing it seems you converted from DirecTV as there is no reason otherwise to do what you did, I would give a call to winegard. With that said, the Winegard box does have a different turner it to find the sats than what the Hooper users. (The Wingard being more sensitive.) So, seeing it did not lock on to 129 which sits lower in the sky, do you maybe have something in the way? You could be just on the fringe of the Hopper being able to lock 129 even though the control box can see it. (Usually a tree). Not sure what you are located, but the more North you in the US, the harder it can be to get 129, as it is so low, unless you have a clear view of the sky. Hope that makes sense. But it is good that the Hopper sees the right switch and that the controller can identify all 3 sats.

    • @porthole2
      @porthole2 3 роки тому

      @@DavidBott
      The winegard is not the issue.
      Locks on to all 3 in less than 5 minutes, 3 SAT’s, 3 asterisks.
      That part of the swap worked out well.
      The Hopper 3 only shows 2 SAT’s 110 and 119, the 3rd column never displays
      Currently we are in southern Georgia.

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  3 роки тому

      @@porthole2 Right, but the tuner in the Winegard controller is more sensitive and thus may be able to "SEE" 129 where the tuner in the Hopper 3 may not be and thus not show up. This is why I brought up if anything could be in the way of 129 which would be lower on the horizon.
