Kawasaki Z1 Super six clutch and a weekend at Goodwood revival
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 сер 2024
- In this video I have a look at the clutch on my red kawasaki super six. Now that the bike has done over 1000 miles ive been exploring there power a bit and noticed that the clutch would slip slightly when the power came in in top gear. After replacing the clutch plates and fitting HD springs. I then take it out for a 50 mile ride to test the clutch and it now works just perfect. Ive been really busy lately with work and events so when I was invited to attend the Goodwood Revival I thought I would be nice my experience at Goodwood in this video to show a flavour of the event. Tracey cooks some more cherry cupcakes and a few of the wild life regulars also make an appearance. Thanks to my son Sam for the on bike footage of our impromptu lap of the track at Goodwood filmed on his phone one handed while hanging on to the pillion seat of my five litre Flying Millyard V Twin, please excuse the bit of wind noise, we didn't have my GoPro with us, but it shows the flow of the circuit a bit. I hope you enjoy this video
best regards

Allen Millyard, Fred Dibnah and Guy Martin. All brilliant, humble and great entertainers. The best the UK has to offer!
don't forget FRANK and Bettie, mmmm.
No question
Don't forget Sam Lovegrove
Humble engineering genius, artist, funny man, cupcake lover and absolutely humanity’s gold👍🏼 you’re the best Sir
At least leave the turn-signal on for miles, like a true man of your age! (It makes the rest of us backyard mechanics feel better.)
@@tvdinner325 c
Yup!
Just love the combo of modesty about huge modifications and cupcakes.
Cup cakes and motorcycles, two of my favourite things.thank you Allen
The Flying Millyard makes the world a better place. Thank you.
How?
I will second that.
@@Prashantlunawat How? By the beauty of it, and even more by expanding the concept of what beauty is, and more, by expanding the mind beyond what was once thought possible. Further, it takes droll humour further into the realm material existence, thus sitting philosophy back in the saddle where Robert Persig rightly put it with his book, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"
@@MrPotatochips4 it makes the motorcycling world a better place. Not necessarily the whole world. I'm a motorcyclist myself and get the enthusiasm but making generalised statements romanticizing motorcycling doesn't seem to work well. I mean, yeah it sounds grandiose and all that, whatever floats your boat man
I think Allen said it was his Chitty Chitty, Bang bang bike, I have to say it's an evocative sounding motor. I like old sounding bikes, even though I don't own any.
Motorcycle maintenance, baking tips, and a call from Greta all in one place. It doesn't get any better than a Millyard video!
Allen , great video as per usual. I remember learning the hard way in the early 70's that North America,n issue Phillips screwdrivers should NOT be used on J.I.S. screws used on Japanese motorcycles. Glad you mentioned JIS and the heads of those screws look as pristine as pristine could be ! Allen thanks for all you do !! 65 year old lifelong motorcyclist / auto mechanic here in Coldwater Ontario Canada enjoying yet another fantastic Millyard video. Cheers !!
Ditto!
Ditto as well from Alberta.
I have to agree with your loyal viewers, your channel is an absolute jewel, a real pleasure. I really do miss my motorcycling days, 30 or so years, many of them with bikes as my only transport. Camping gear, a decent bike and the open road, especially back in the days when Brit tourists still waved at each other on much emptier roads. Anyone remember the dear old Triumph Tiger 650, the original with one super-easy to tune carb? Or the wonderful ferry from Algeciras to North Africa and that gorgeous road south through what was then the Spanish Sahara? Happy Days ...
"The only man in the world that can cut a straight line with a hacksaw." No truer words ever spoken. By the way, what's the redline on the Flying Millyard? 250 RPM??
Around 2200 rpm
@@AllenMillyard At the very low RPM's you were driving over the circuit it sounded more like a steam engine. sounds almost impossible for a petrol engine, not stalling.
Very cool.
@@zorktxandnand3774 At 5Ltr's I doubt it _would_ stall(loads of torque).
@@timmason7430 And loads of rotating mass, but it just sounds so unlike any normal petrol engine revving that low.
@@AllenMillyard instead of a tach I see you have a clock ...the bike turns so slow you time the revs with the minute hand
For me, this channel is a veritable jewel in the crown of UA-cam!
I love this show. You just couldn't get a more contrasting mix (of things we're interested in) of motorcycle engineering, love of bikes, love of cup cakes and wildlife in our gardens. A unique combination. Great stuff.
Allen: “Lets just gradually turn the Channel into a baking Channel. The fans wont even feel the transition”
That's how they dominated the world for a while. We're just here to say hello.
How about "Bikes and Cupcakes" ;-))
Can't wait for the spinoff! "Tracey's strictly cupcakes"
Can yo imagine the merchandise!?
Title suggestion: Sugar and Bikes: How Allen drops a screw in the block when Tracy calls “ cup cake”.
Reminds me of a line from the Kawi movie 'Stone' 1974: "when you bake a cupcake man, when you bake a cupcake hard and fast... it's like nothing else really matters!"
The Z1 Super six sounds just amazing higher up the rev range. Love to see an Allen Millyard vid notification. 👍👍👍 Haha, no electric vehicles
14:54 just sums it up entirely, mans just cuts up engines in half and weld' em together like it's nuthin
Are we also talking about the crankshaft straightenin' by hand/eye and its within a thou...
Probably one of the few bike builders that builds bikes for the pure enjoyment of it. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Can we have a new build please.
Had the pleasure of meeting Allen at the national motorcycle museum last Sunday lovely to chat to a real gentleman
Thank you Allen. For those of us Brits who don't currently live in Blighty these videos are fabulous to watch.
You know you're always welcome pal : )
Never mind your brilliant engineering Allen, I love the trick Tracey uses to measure the flour for her cup cakes! I'll be using that for my next bake!
What a treat for the ears; Allen's Super SIX and the Merlin flypast!
BEAUTIFUL BIKE I REMEMBER THEM FROM THE 70'S
Another astonishing day in the life of Allen, I suppose his mouth was watering as much as mine when the second rasher of cherries went into the cupcakes. Enjoyed, cheers and good health to you and your family Allen!
I'm sorry to be pedantic, but for the good of mankind I feel the need to point out that, however tasty they may be, cherries definitely do not come in rashers!
Aha. Two consummate professionals at work.
The “Cupcake Queen” and the “King of Engineering “.
Gotta say, that was a nifty trick the way Tracey weighed the flour.
Give her her own 5 minute segment on each show,
You’ll both become even more famous!
Great to see you back.
HI Allen, I made your wife's cupcake recipe a couple weeks ago. They didn't turn out but I tried it again today with a couple slight modifications and they turned out great! My son said these are the best dessert he's had in weeks! Thank you for actually posting a shot of the recipe.
Gosh every day watching you channel is a good day
I am addicted
Thank you for sharing your life and wisdom , its amazing like you
Really great to see the Flying Millyard in action - what a beast - and then even having a big movie star, like Jason Momoa sitting on it. He should be honored to be granted such a privilege.
The FM trumps the V-twins Jason rides :)
The only guy who cuts a straight line with a hacksaw, that's what amazed the most among your skills. 😊👍
l love those "gentle digs' at Greta, excellent comedic timing 😀
14:50 "The only man who can cut a straight line with a hack saw - in the world! Absolute genius!"
This needs to be on a Tee shirt.
Great vid Allen. So glad you emphasized the use of a "JIS" screw driver. I have spent too many hours removing mashed up screws after they have been attacked by a Phillips, or Pozi drive head!!
It's amazing how few folks know about the JIS screwdrivers and how difficult they are to find (out of Japan), especially when you think how many Japanese vehicles there are around... :-)
Me too, just ordered 6 hex bits, made in Japan from Amazon, only 25 dollars ..
Big wood pigeons are so funny to watch waddling in the yard, especially after Wallace and Grommet when grommet is spying and the bird with the rubber glove on the head stares at him 😅🇬🇧👍
Feathers McGraw ,who is a penguin
@@paulg3336 Yup, great penguin 🐧always reminded me of a wood pigeon, must have been the Stardawg 🚭
Even the local wildlife is mesmerised by your spannering. As are we all.
That Kawasaki sounds well , cakes , where would we be without cakes ? Good wood , one day I'll get dressed up and get there to appreciate the machinery and the atmosphere 👍🇬🇧
I love your show it has a grand variety and excellently narrated. as an engineer who enjoys motorcycles as well as cooking and wild life, I find your show hits all the marks. I look forward to the next one, thank you.
Loved the video. Fettling the Kawasaki and mentioning JIS screws! Cupcakes, cherries, doves, English country lanes, the amazing Flying Millyard, a glimpse of the fun at Goodwood that I’ve never seen before, especially period costumes, a lap of the circuit, trouble with the law, baby birds and hedgehogs. What a pleasure, Allen. Thank you so much.
Great synopsis, Keith! What's not to like of all that?!
Am so humbled to follow the person when we have the same name 🙏🙏
Another really interesting and inspiring video.... agreed with the bloke regarding the hacksaw cuts 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm The Beatles Age & Watching Your Videos, Gives Me Hope That I'll Get To Ride Again One Day, Thank You.
What a marvellous witty man, the cupcake commentary had me in stitches, the Kwak sounds epic
Always great! These videos help with keeping up on long term projects, thanks for posting your work, plus the fun and opportunities your creations bring to you.
Allen I love your videos always thoroughly entertaining and informative, I used to ride bikes in the 70-80 and the selection of bike’s engines I’m now into boats outboards but still have a effection for the classic bikes you work on.
My wife is similar to yours crocheting and baking happy days thanks for all your contribution
I bet there's Kawasaki designers from the 70's watching this and thinking .... " this man's a flippin genius !!
Hi Allen, over the moon to see you utilise your "grass" workbench again with the pigeons as company. That Kawasaki just looks and sounds gorgeous. Goodwood looked fab as usual, the Spitfires amazing, good to see the Flying Millyard attracting lots of attention. Hope the cupcakes tasted as good as they looked by the way, Mrs M is a cupcake wizard. Great video, cheers, Alex.
Allen taught me how to persevere! Zen master!
A glimpse into the world of Mr Millyard, where engineering and cupcakes clash and whir to make a mix of pure poetry.
Another slice of loveliness, with added cupcakes 🧁🧁🧁😎🇬🇧
Thank you as always…… 🌟
Wonderful!
Your hat was perfect for the Revival, and the Flyer must have been a hit at the show.
thanks for the videos Allen, keep them coming, love it. :-)
Tea cupcakes and bikes on a winter day are my favourite
My respect stays with you sir
Absolute pleasure on a Sunday morning to sit and watch your video
I`ve been waiting soooo hard for your next video, Allen! You made my day!
Woop!! Great to see this again!! Love the look, the sound and the fact that it was the first Allen vlog series I watched, introducing me to this ace channel!! Hope you had a great Summer Allen! Ready for a shed based Winter of more amazing work?
Nature and Cookery lessons, and a bit about Motorbikes, brilliant stuff, and just like all your other vids, Allen 100% entertaining, please dont ever change the format
Thank you, sir ... big smile from Maryland, USA
Excellent, I realised that as yet I haven’t seen you use a power screwdriver/impact gun or the like. Proper hand tools 👍
"Here Hear " : )
I was interested to see you putting in the new fibre clutch plates dry - I'd always soaked them in new oil first, otherwise suffered grabby/sticky clutch initially. Those twisty B roads look great fun (once dry). Excellent stuff as always.
Clutch discs wouldn't dare misbehave for Allen Millyard. They know better.
The wettest part always on the bends for a change lol !
I have nightmares about cattle grids meself pmsl : )
@@patrickrose1221........those bits of corners, where the road polishes under corner loads........always good when it's mixed with a nicely warn man hole cover.

should soak fibre plates with oil over night and bead blast the steal plates better then sanding, great videos has always.
Just waiting for parts from zpower and rebuild over winter ha the joy .of fettling .the joy of zed ✌️
Alan getting his helmet kissed by Tracey - sounds like a good day out 😅
i hope he wiped the lipstick off before he got home!😉
Just watching the last bit with you riding the Flying Millyard round the track had me thinking its the two wheel version of Duncan Pittaway's Beast of Turin , just the lazy revs but making good progress. Tea,cupcakes and engines a great recipe...
Nailed it , I saw that ' Beast ' for the first time last week , deffo earns it's name don't it pal : )
The "Flying Millyard" has a decidedly helicopter sound when chugging along. Does that mean it is technically a chopper? Great video, I missed ya! Thanks for sharing.
...............six foot long folks, and a king and queen seat, full low rider............it would be a blast.
Motorcycles and cupcakes, that's a match made in heaven.
Cannot find words to describe how much I enjoy your videos!! Thanks again Allen!
Goodwood looks absolutely fantastic . Maybe one year I'll get there
Allen, you remind me of my dad so much. My dad was an aviation engineer and project planner and I lost him in march 2020 age 81, I have inherited the workshop and have an overhead milling machine, Oxford student lathe, boxford shaping machine, hydraulic hacksaw and I just want to do my dad proud and learn how to use this machinery properly. I know you're familiar with Steve parish and Im guessing you know Tony malthouse who taught me a lot as he lives locally to me also. It's a shame he has retired now. I want to learn the old skills to keep them alive into the future, maybe o can teach this to the next generation also.
I still can't get over the 6cyl sound this particular engine makes, between the custom made engine & exhaust. It's even better than the really early flat 6 Goldwings with all the fairings, panels and covers off. Starting right at 4,000rpm on this "Millyard Kawasaki" I could listen to that all day! Has a yell to it that reminds me of a high revving Ford 289 coming into the cam
I don’t know who’s better to watch Tracy making cup cakes or you tinkling about with motorcycles engines lol 😆 I had a Kawasaki Z 750 back in the 80s and loved it 😍
I innocently tuned into the video to see the clutch overhaul, only to be confronted with the artistic creation of luscious cupcakes. Two expert craftspeople in one household! I‘m now dealing with a massiv case of the munchies and all the shops are closed.
"The only man who can cut a straight line with a hacksaw in the world". he is about right you know hahaha i do allot of engine work and bike projects but i dont imagine my self cutting the cuts you do and stay straight :O impressive ! great content love the videos
You're Genius, All the details of all your videos are just perfect and you bikes and creations are absolutely wonderful. I admire you with all my heart and i send a big hug from Argentina. Greetings
Great video, Motorbikes ,cooking ,wildlife, fashion. The dig at Gretta was very funny.
Thanks again Allen - ever so much! All your Kawi's are the most desireable, and I am reminded of being an Aussie 'Stone' type bikie in the late 70's and early 80's whenever your Kawi's are featured on your channel.
Hey Allen Millyard! Greetings from Vancouver British Columbia Canada! Cherries in the cupcakes is like more cylinders in the engine! Its always better with more! Ride ride ride!
I never get tired of watching this mechanical genius at work
What a wonderful video Sir, working on your Kawasaki, making and eating cupcakes (yum) and enjoying a weekend with a bunch of motorheads. Thank you for sharing it with us.
The only channel on UA-cam Where you get motorbikes cookery and nature
The sound on that super six sound just like my Honda Rune. Fabulous 👌
I love it when motorcycle-bob-ross uploads a video!
The best of English ingenuity ! Along with all our other innovations...makes you proud to be an Englishman.
Never had a motorbike but always tinkered with cars. Find this so interesting and relaxing. I Absolutely love this channel. Be lovely to spend a day with Allen you'd learn so much Thanks Allen 👍
I love that Super Six.
What a great sound. I enjoyed the Goodwood event and thank you for including us.
Everything in your video is just so cool . 👍👍👍
Fantastic entertainment, the Kawasaki is awesome and the trip to Goodwood. The Flying Millyard literally idling around the circuit was astounding. Thanks for sharing.
Oh! Getting invited to Goodwood Revival! You big-time now!
Hats-off to Greta's informants - she can track you down wherever you are!
You were mentioned on Uncle Tony's Garage a lot today. Nothing but praise
Love how you give directions on the motorcycle and then the cupcakes. Your a legend lol 👍
Allen's videos always seem to remind me of a sort of a Mr. Rogers mixed with a bit of Dr. Frankenstein for good measure.
I love them all regardless...!!!
Such fun watching each new creation come to life.
Beautiful Super 6 and beautiful event.
The Kawasaki driving footage and that exhaust note...bellissima!
Again, this is the best baking channel on UA-cam - it's all in the details!
Dear mister mylliard, the video was great. I little bit of everything, the bike, your wife, cooking, the animals in the garden and the goodwood meeting. It was great, go ahead doing this. 👍 Greetings from Germany
Well what do you do when there’s not a new video you watch one again! So soothing and relaxing to watch Allen work. Look forward to these videos like a warm muffin and a cup of coffee! Cheers to all,

Sorry I’m keeping you waiting, I’m making a new vid soon 🎥
The great British bake off with a little bit of mechanical know how thrown in..love it
Brilliant! Just brilliant! Not only supremely enjoyable, but so informative. I love your "laid back" style.
Truly a fantastic video, so humble just great! Also honoured to have caught a couple of moments at Museum Live when you weren't fending off crowds of people. Thanks for taking the time to say hi and discuss your other Kwak 6Cyl! Joe
Thank you. I appreciate the animal and cooking bits almost as much as the bike bits. Puts it all in perspective, I think!
That Z1 Super Six makes such wonderful sounds!
Excellent video, pigeons, cupcakes, a monster V-twin, a screaming straight 6, the coolest actor at the moment having a HUGE honour of sitting on (possibly) the coolest bike ever built, gorgeous spitfires and Greta track Allen down 😂 👌 👍
I love the six cylinder howl of your Z, the perfect sound for a bike ♥️
What a wonderful video.
Came here looking for Z1 and found cupcakes and hedgehogs.
You, sir, are a true gent.
Many thanks from North Nottinghamshire
Thanks for taking us on the ride. Incredible machine.
In Allen's world, everything is worked until "It's just perfect." He lives in a managed but just perfect world! Thanks for including the Spits.
