@@pauly51 Thanks for watching and commenting. I will be going out to test pan many rivers and streams and letting you know what I find. Many more videos already filmed and ready. Peace.
@@hipbeeexplorer awesome. Great job. How good of honey yield this year?
@@pauly51 It wasn't too bad. I would say about average. Thanks for watching.
@@pauly51 llll
Awesome information. There's one small area here in Rhode Island northeast corner where small nuggets are found in the decomposing bedrock. Thanks for your time
Sluicing is allowed all year without a permit as long as the stream banks are not disturbed for most of the Maine rivers and streams
Correct. Thank you for watching and commenting. Peace.
My older brother found a gold nugget in Upton, Maine, waaay back in the day, in highschool. He sold it for a little over 4,000$ though, so it was a great find. Now that I'm grown, I'm getting into rock hounding and buying equipment. There ARE Finds out there waiting in the woods of Maine, ALOT of them!!
Yes,. We will be doing some videos in Maine this year.
Thanks for the info I appreciate your time and hope the gold gods are good to you!
Thanks for watching
Oh u amazed me in one of your videos going down such a steep hill to river lugging all that gear. I was amazed!! Steep drops always kind of stop me from getting down to places I want to go.
The steep banks can be rough and I have a bad knee. Thank you for watching
As Wes mentioned that Twin Rivers campground owns about a mile of property that they allow people to prospect on with their permit if not staying at the campground. Their are a couple of properties along that same area that are private property. At the end of their property going east on rt112 up to a sharp corner that land is owned by Bath and at the sharp corner they have a sign no prospecting danger. After that pretty much all the rest of the land is privately owned by multiple different property owners so you will need to do your home work so your not prospecting on private property. I've been researching and prospecting that area for several years.
Yes, that is correct. Once you get into the WMNF there are very few privately owned areas and many places to pull of and prospect. You will need a free permit in the WMNF to pan. Outside of the WMNF you don't need a permit to pan but you need one to dredge.
also, I'm not a big fan of the areas that the campground own. They are tore up pretty good from dredges and I've found much less gold than the areas further up stream in the WMNF. People come from all over to dredge that stretch of river. I've seen people dredge a hole and then someone else come in the following week and dredge the same hole all day and complain because they found nothing. I wonder why? lol...I would wait until after a major flood then the whole thing gets replenished but it's been 4 years now since the last major flood so most of the easy to reach areas have been dredged out. If you know how to read a river and know where the gold is you can still do good...I prefer a quite day on the river panning or sluicing so I go further upstream.
Awesome video, Wes😎🦾🇺🇸
Thanks 👍 Oldie but goodie
thank you for this video so questions got answered keep up the good work just found your channel as a native New Englander ive always had this in my head there is gold in the whites subscribed
Thank you for watching and commenting. Bee groovy.
Thanks for the tips i have actually been curious about the area around hummingbird lane its only 45 minutes from where i live.
I like that area. It takes me 2 hours to get there but it's still one of my closest and favorite places.
I really appreciate this video in fact you put all this information together and put it out there for us to prospect and find good places where we might find gold and enjoy our hobby is fantastic thank you very much for your effort of putting this video out and everything in it that is so helpful
Thank you. The reason I made it is because when I was starting out there was no information available and it took years of work to get the knowledge so I knew this is what people would want to see. Same with many of my other videos. Thanks for watching.
Hooked was just at coos canyon campground, I didn't pan the hole time but I got some fly poop .was a great time will try again hope every thing pans out for us all, stay safe
Thanks for subscribing to our channel. We have a lot more coming. Peace.
Hello Wes and Tom. Love your videos! I saw you guys getting some gold in new hamshire. I have always loved new hamshire. I'm in Maine. I have panned over ten rivers and brooks in southern Maine. Inside bends outside bends, bedrock ect.. I haven't found one spec. Your video's give me hope to at least find a little bit of gold! I have a permit for the white Mountain N.F. You can't use a sluce there. How about just New Hamshire? Do you need a permit? Can you use a sluce? Thanks.
Outside of the NFL you can use a sluice box. You do not need a permit.
Thanks for the great informational video,up in Lincoln for a little while .Was wondering if the Pemigewasset has any gold ? Don’t know if you’ve prospected there but looks really interesting. Thanks again great info and say hi to Tom and the Hip Bee!!Peace and gold!!
I tried the Pemi with no luck. The gold is on the other side of the ridge down rt 112 past the Lost River tourist site in the Wild Ammonoosuc and Tunnel Brook.
This is the best video I have seen on where and what to do to find gold! I love it!! Sir, I am a veteran, and I live in rhode island. The Veterans Administration said it would be good to pick up another outdoor hobby. Currently it's 3 September 2024, I want to try this out in lower New Hampshire or lower Vermont. I have no delusions of making a million dollars. 😂 But, when I go, I want to atleast increase my chances by going to a good place. Can u please let me know where you think I should go please. Thank you sir.
If you want a good chance to find gold then start at the Twin River Campground in Bath NH. If you stay there you can use their land to prospect and sluice. If you don't stay there you can get a day pass to pan and sluice for $7. The River there has gold and is a great place for beginners. Also you can try Tunnel Brook just up the road from there in Benton, NH but you will need a free permit from the US forest service ranger station in Lincoln or campton.
@@hipbeeexplorer ok sir, thank you very much. I am going to give it a whirl and see how relaxing it is. And if there is anything good I find. Thank you again from a veteran!
Thanks for the tips bud.
Hope to see you on the creek.
Is that a photo of the covered bridge in Andover behind you?
I'm not sure what picture you are talking about.
I've been spending a lot of time in the swift and East branch that last few months. Nothing major found but I'm searching for that pay streak... Thanks for the info!
Subscribed.
Thank you for watching. The Swift can be a tricky place. It’s used a lot.

Much appreciated
It isn't Ma-drid like in Spain, but Mad-rid, like you're mad. It's a common mistake.
This was a great tutorial!!
Im a newbie to this...
Is a handheld sluice allowed in streams and creeks outside of the W.M.N.F? Do you need a permit? What about a recirculating water mini highbanker.
Thankyou my man! ✌️⛏️
No, You do not need a permit to use a sluicebox or recirculating sluicebox outside of the National Forest But you do need landowner permission.
Thankyou for your reply. I think your videos are great. Ive subscribed))) Im from manchester... maybe ill see you out on the trail-peace out my man
🔥🇺🇲🍻✌️😊⛏️🔥
HI, I left a message on another video, but when I saw this, I realized you answered my question. You need to stops at Estes Collectibles in Meredtih NH. Dan carries all sorts of prospecting equipment, and is a beekeeper as well! Great info by the way.
Hey there! Glad you found the video. We'll def stop by Estes Collectibles next time we're up that way. We were just in Meredith not long ago and made a video of a museum.

Also, Maine has prospecting club if you're looking to find new places in Maine to look for gold. If you need the link, look us up on Facebook and I can message it to you.
@@hipbeeexplorer That would be great. Thank you for explaining things as you go. I try to eliminate as many novice mistakes as possible!
What about Concord New Hampshire
In one of my books it mentions gold in a brook in Hooksett and on Pinnacle Hill. The best way to know is to get out there and see for yourself. Thanks for watching.
Hi, do u think they plow tunnel Brook road in the winter? Probably need cross country skis. If I snow shoe in I will be to tired to dig.
Tunnel brook rd is now gated in winter. But you can still get to the river if you park just before the gate and walk in. Everything is frozen now. Best to wait til spring
coos canyon and the swift river is a long river and i know its highly panned but is there gold up the whole river or just the bottum??
It is believed the gold in that river comes from Tumbledown Mountain so I would assume there is gold all the way up to the mountain but after that it splits. I've never been up farther than that.
WHERE IS TOM ?
What about using a hand dredge in new hampshire?
They are allowed in New Hampshire but not where I was this day because it was inside a National Park.
@@hipbeeexplorer I did get new pans a crevicing sucker hopefully there's better luck doing that.Because gold is so heavy it prob gets stuck over time.I know of a few brooks in the area where I've seen black sand.Near the Connecticut river the brook of interest is in lebanon nh
Can I ask who painted the pictures behind you??
I did. Thanks for watching.
Hey from same general area as you let me know if you would like too tag team on a gold mission
Thank you for watching and commenting. What area you from? We usually go up during the week and we are trying to film as much as possible right now as winter is on the way.
@@hipbeeexplorer bennington area just left bath nh today
@@hipbeeexplorer i might have one more trip before winter hoping toogo too az middle of winter fingers crossed
Do you have an e mail.? I might have gold on my property. I live in ri and have 23 acres. There is a river behind my house that has alot of quartz and iron pyrite. Not really sure how to go about this.
Hi Steven, generally Rhode Island would be out of the area that gold would found but you never know. You could get a gold pan online which are generally inexpensive and do a few sample pans or maybe find a place that tests samples and send them out some samples.
Ok sounds good. Ty so much
I'd like to come up that way one of these days. Maybe this summer and try it.
It's ridiculous for any parts of a river to be owned by anyone.
I agree but it is. Mineral rights belong to the land owner up to half way across the river channel and the whole channel if he owns both sides.
