- It's official... Hailie Deegan has been sacked by AM Racing effective immediately. Deegan herself has opened up on this decision and many feel that AM Racing's decision was a bit too rash given that Deegan is just a rookie.
Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of discussion on whether Hailie Deegan should remain in the NASCAR Xfinity series next year. But AM Racing has decided that they cannot even wait for the end of the season for her to exit. This does not seem fair to Hailie.

She had the tools AND support from FORD , Stewart/ Haas , and the crew and STILL couldn't get out of ( her average) TWENTY NINETH position . The ONLY times she was in the top ten was when 25 or so cars in front of her pitted and she didn't .. the rest of the time she couldn't even SEE the top ten cars... 🤯

Josh Berry finished WORSE than Deegan's average finish AND finished better in The Cup Series... Tells you a lot right there.
It shows she has no commitment to even staying in shape. You have to put in the work, especially when you’re doing nothing to be fit.
Struggling is one thing crashing cars is another. Either you can drive or you can not!
The reality is that she didn’t wreck - the team sucked! replaced her crew chief with Director of operations, who apparently doesn’t know his head from his ass - she went into a bad situation that just got worse because honestly, there was nobody to mentor her And you can’t expect a rookie driver to know the things that an experienced driver does. Quit picking on her.
Tell that to the driver's who wreck right in front of her or wreck her. Plus why are they replacing her with experience drivers put another rookie driver in and see how they do all by themselves

Brett Moffit. Average driver on an average team got decent results. HD... bad driver on an average team got sucky results. It's pretty simple math.

Best drivers look inward and change what they can about themselves, they don't act petty and blame everyone else for their lack of success in trying times.
This really IS a female trait, "I didn't do anything wrong, it's something/someone else's fault." you have correctly observed this. A good driver DOES have the capacity for a bit of introspection indeed.

I will say however. , females tend to be quicker going down this road , because the expectations are lowered..
What I mean by that, is they can give up faster , because they've accomplished something in shorter time.. even if it's not at the level of thier male competition.

They didn't know how to fix the car she would tell them what car is doing but they didn't know how to fix it Joey had to tell them what to do they didn't have a clue.
He told them the car was junk and needed an air pressure change on the next stop, as the car was only going to get worse. Interim crew chief radios back...."so do you want the air pressure up? Or down?"

Owner of AM Racing is the father of the idiot in trucks that kept wrecking her on purpose. Coincidence? I think she was set up to fail from the start. Fire a crew chief, and put the director of operations in his place whom doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Bad situation only got worse as races went on.

Where in this is Deegan firing back at Am Racing. BTW the only highlight of the season has been her finishing 12th at Talladega because of the team strategy for her at a stay in the back of the pack and the drive around for nearly the entire time and hope for a wreck(s) near the end of the race for her to move up which happened. She didn't have to sign with AM Racing, they were the only ones to offer her a ride and she took the opportunity. That was her decision and now everyone makes excuses for her. Weak.
I have watched 2 videos from this channel. The videos seem like they have someone doing them that doesn’t follow nascar.

I agree with you, but Hailie's not a straight up DEI hire. She brings sponsorship money, and enough talent to have won in some series with pretty stout competition. Is she going to win a cup championship??? No. Can she run up near the front on certain tracks??? Absolutely. Talk to any of the former, and current champions of motorsport who've gotten beaten by her in SRX(equal equipment). I think the jury is still out on if she can hang, but I always find it interesting that you don't hear any of these comments about the drivers finishing behind her... just sayin'
Your statement shows you don't understand DEI at all. DEI is to make employers aware that POC and women who are candidates for employment are qualified. Your stated position shows you think women and POC aren't or can't be qualified to do the job they were hired for. I saw a guy claim he wouldn't fly on a plane if the pilot was a DEI hire. Did he really think an airline would hire an unqualified pilot and open themselves up to potentially millions of dollars in liability if they crash an airplane full of passengers because of DEI? The lack of mental acuity on the right sometimes just astounds me.

Shape up or ship out
I have followed her and watched her race in the different series she has participated in. She just seems to be over cautious when on track incidents happen in front of her and then gets run over. Putting a different driver in the car and a different guy on the box isn’t going to improve things though, they just aren’t performing well enough as a team. The fact that SHR has been fading in their strength in NASCAR, I am sure the tech partnership they had with AM was suffering as well.
There were many problems on both sides (With Deegan and with AM Racing):
Problems with Deegan -
1. She was taken in by a somewhat inexperienced team that only had a year of Full-Time Xfinity Racing experience, and three or four Full-Time years of Truck Racing Experience.
2. Her time at Ford showed little improvement throughout ARCA, Trucks and Xfinity. However, her time at Toyota in the K&N Pro Series showed how she was much more competitive.
3. By saying she didn't get the opportunities and/or had been told that the promises didn't come while at Toyota, showed her aggressive nature early on in her NASCAR career (Both on the track and within the Toyota Development Program).
Problems with AM Racing -
1. Despite opening in 2016 in the Truck Series, the team in the Truck Series was usually running in the mid-pack to the back of the pack. AM Racing in the Truck Series showed improvement at times, when switching manufacturers (Toyota - 2016 to 2017, Chevy - 2019 to 2022, and then Ford - 2023) with the best results with Chevrolet.
2. When AM Racing said they would have a technical alliance with SHR, it was already known that the Cup Series team was past its prime.
3. When seeing Hailie's performance on track, compared to Moffitt's performance, it clearly shows two things (The latter's experience in Xfinity with Our Motorsports paid off, and the AM Racing/SHR technical alliance wasn't really doing anything, due to the inexperience of Hailie Deegan and the AM Racing Team).
3. When they downsized their Truck Series operations to a Part-Time effort to expand into the ARCA and Xfinty Series, it proved they were spreading themselves too thin. Only the ARCA operations are producing a competitive car in almost every race.
4. When AM Racing debuted last year in the Xfinity Series, they nearly made the Playoffs last year with 2018 Truck Champion Brett Moffitt, due to his experience in the Xfinity Series. But whether Moffitt was let go due to sponsorship issues, or that the team wanted a younger driver in the car, it was the wrong move.
Now, here are the stats from AM Racing's Truck and Xfinity Series tenure.
AM Racing's Truck Series Stats.
From 2016 - 2017 (Toyota) with Three Drivers (One Full-Time, Two One-Offs) -
In 29 Starts: 0 Wins, 0 Top 5s, 3 Top 10s, 8 Top 15s, 14 Top 20s, 5 DNFs, 2 DNQs, and Finished 15th in Points during the 2016 and 2017 Seasons.
From 2019 - 2022 (Chevy) with Four Drivers (One Full-Time, Three Two-Offs) -
In 89 Starts: 0 Wins, 1 Top 5, 13 Top 10s, 28 Top 15s, 54 Top 20s, 16 DNFs, An Average Points Finish of 16.8 (Approx. 17th), and a Best Points Finish of 14th (Twice - 2019 and 2021).
In 2023 (Ford) with Ten Drivers (One Driver in Five Races, Two in Three Races, Two in Two Races, and Five One-Offs) -
In 20 Starts: 0 Wins, 0 Top 5s, 1 Top 10, 1 Top 15, 3 Top 20s, 2 DNFs, 1 WD (Withdrawn from Race), and a Points Finish of 30th.
AM Racing's Xfinity Series Stats.
2023 (Ford) with Brett Moffitt (*Note* 80% of the DNFs came on Road Courses) - In 33 Starts: 0 Wins, 1 Top 5, 9 Top 10s, 17 Top 15s, 22 Top 20s, 5 DNFs, and Points Finish of 15th.
2024 (Ford) with Hailie Deegan - In 17 Starts: 0 Wins, 0 Top 5s, 0 Top 10s, 2 Top 15s, 4 Top 20s, 3 DNFs, and is Currently 28th in Points (Despite her being out of AM Racing).
She will come back...❤

I'm so tired of people playing games. Deegan won three lower series races in top equipment by dumping guys all three times. Then she ran like shit in arca in top equipment. Then she REALLY ran like shit in trucks in top equipment. And now she WAS running even fucking worse somehow! In a HAAS affiliated car. She gets worse every time she moves up the ranks. Her talent peaked in the regional series. She should have never made it to the national series

She was overhyped for the amount of mediocrity she produced. She was just the new Danica Patrick, a DEI hire.

I dont believe shes the problem.. shes new so is the team, they didn't have enough support to overcome her lack of experience, im not saying shes without fault but the lions share is on them . The crew chief got canned also, so shes not the only issue by a long shot
Goals don't align.... aka they want a winning or at least competitive driver to push the equipment to see what they have and what they need to improve on. The team made a business decision which is smart on their part. Why have all that money in the team, cars, equipment, haulers, etc..... and have no results to show for anything. Don't think anything was rash about this, the only reason why this story is as big as it is, is due to her following and notoriety. Hell the story following Ricky Thornton Jr in the Dirt Super Late Model scene is way more interesting, and controversial then this.
They want a winning driver, so what happened with Brett Moffit. 2023 was a good year. Why is he gone then?

Clearly this video maker is in the tank for Hailie Deegan. I am sure that AM had some valid reasons for firing her. They knew there would be detractors when they made the decision to do it. Maybe she could have spent less time making UA-cam videos with her boyfriend and more time learning the racing game.
I think the team wanted to much to soon. What sponsors are gonna stay with a team with revolving drivers? Who will they blame now? Stewart-Haas is gone after this year. They haven't done much this year in Cup so why would they worry about a small time Xfinity team. I wish Hallie the best.
Her first race in the NASCAR big leagues, she finished 16th. People seem to forget that she finished 16th and TWO laps down.

AM Racing isn't all that. AM just wanted Ford's money. She needs to get the hell away from Ford. She was doing better with Toyota.
I love how everyone is just blaming Deegan on this. AM racing was a new crew, new team. They had one driver that had already a decent career. And they are just expecting Hailie would just be good from day one. Don't get me wrong she has a lot of work ahead of her. But AM has a lot of work ahead of them. This was something that should have never happened to begin with because it seems like they were not aligned to begin with. Hailie probably needs to go back a series or 2 and build her racing foundation because she is trying to move up too fast. And AM racing needs to get a reality check if they thought a rookie was going to just steam roll the competition on a subpar team.
AM racing has been around and growing for at least a decade now. They are owned by Tim Self, the father of Austin Wayne Self, their original truck driver, who drives dirt modifieds for them now. They run full time in ARCA, and Xfinity, with technical alliances with SHR and Roush Yates Engines.
@@johnlafever3162 Yes but this is their second year in Xfinity so they are still a young team. So you have a brand new team with a Rookie driver. And Trucks do not correlate with Cars. So whatever experience they have from trucks doesn't mean they can take that and fashion cars from it. It was like the blind leading the blind. If they were wanting to do something like that. They should have had some kind of mentor to help with dialing in setups and to help Deegan. I agree with what some people have been saying they signed her for the hype she brings not because they wanting to grow with her. Not saying any team should just live in mediocrity. But if they really wanted to foster a rookie they needed a better support structure to do that.

...and while your notes aren't the same between trucks and Xfinity, they both (as race vehicles) adjust exactly the same.
What all the internet experts are melting down over, is the crew chief not being sure how to adjust on a "street course, not even a road course" to get the exact desired effect Joey was asking for. That's much different than adjusting on an oval.
@@johnlafever3162 If they had all of these people and they still bring in a 2 time cup champion to race and the best he did was 8th after some pit strategy. Even for a cup champion he was running not so great. Once again not all AM fault Hailie plays a part in this. But acting like AM is completely innocent is stupid and you know that. AM has a lot of work to do before they will be a team to be reckoned with. Hailie needs to get better as well. So don't take my criticism for AM racing as it is all their fault it was not. I was criticizing the decisions they made not putting all the blame on them. What I was saying if they were not ready to foster a Rookie driver then don't hire one for their team. A racing program takes work. And 10 years experience is not a lot in NASCAR. There are teams that are 30 plus years. Ten years is a drop in a bucket for most of these teams. And it is still a new car and new team. ARCA is different equipment so even that doesn't come over. Giving excuses to AM is the same as a Hailie fan giving excuses for her. It doesn't take a genus to know that they need to go back to the drawing board to. AM actually made the right decision in terms of where they want to go. If they are not wanting to foster a rookie and think Hailie Deegan is not the right fit for their team letting her go was correct. I was criticizing the decision to hire her in the first place. Hailie should not have moved up, she should not have even moved up into trucks until we seen some solid success in ARCA. She made bad decisions. And Jr put it best they were decisions she thought she needed to make. And now she has to figure out what her next move is. Be that going back down to trucks. Going all the way back down to ARCA. But she has a lot of decision making ahead of her as well. (and probably time in a racing SIM instead of whatever else she has been doing)

Hailie was mentored by all the haters telling her to quit and go home. Some development strategy. She should get with anyone who will talk to her that knows about setup and lines at tracks etc. and get her own education. Get a sim with all the NASCAR tracks and wear it out. She has video of her flying around a dirt track in a go kart but that's not going to do it. Good Luck Hailie
A word to the wise-Hallie keep your mouth shut and move on. Do not burn your bridge with the team/nascar/ford regardless of what you think. She needs to take a break from everything including social media before making any further bad decisions that all involved know they wont end well. She lacks situational awareness and real race craft to keep herself out of trouble-a very bad combo to miss which can't be taught. She does has great drive and motivation-if I was "coaching" her, ditch the social media, go see Frank Hawley and she will learn far more than how to handle a dragster. She should visit Erica Enders also. I think Hallie would do well in NHRA and pull new fans with her. Forget nascar that door is closed.
She should have concentrated into racing and not being an influencer and trying to make chase relevant.

Hailie was nothing more than an attempt by NASCAR to show they were on the WOKE/DEI bandwagon. Everyone knew she wasn’t even qualified to drive a hometown dirt car. Even Danica had better stats and ratings than her.
Enough about AM racing. Ya, they suck. Wellll last year with a different driver they got decent results. So they sucked this year? But not last year? Makes sense.

Myself I think she should have spent another year in the truck series it would have helped alot. But money knows best and when the risk doesn't match the reward a young lady with alot of talent is the one thrown out.

A little team with no money thought if they signed her big money sponsorship would be flowing in. Like with Danica in her very sad and disappointing ( not a shred of talent) career. But that's not the case today. They learned their lesson with the Danica Patrick era
the problem is Danica was rushed up because of her looks, and she never drove any stockcar. Hallie had family, and drove stockcars and won some lower series And her passion for racing is unlike Danica, Danica was only loved because of her looks and GO Daddy s*x symbol. And she wrecked nearly every race and was in Dale Jr cars and good cup team. That is far different, for Hallie she was in good trucks and a so so team of Am racing, but she did great in #07 car she should go back there their cars can be better than #15 likely. But she has a passion for racing Danica said well .. lets do it just because of lets do it because of her fame and her ego. Halllie really does love racing can tell , and she worked hard. Unlike Danica, like Toni and Amber Balcean they work hard and have real love for it early on to be great.

So you can suck in top equipment but find your calling with a great team that clicks. There is many Good Drivers that failed many t imes then found their calling the reaon you all hate her is because she is a female in a males sport. Its not like shes terrible like Danica. Hallie had to earn her spots in the lower series unlike Danica or tell me she Danica worked hard in lower series ? No she was gien a silver spoon, Thorsport is good but not mean you will succeed fast with no experience. She did spark alot of promise. Even with bad results.

AM racing like Haas didnt really care about the teams that why their failing team and closing because their not being serious team anymore. So it failing. Either way she does hav ethe passion the heart unlike Danica who got silver spoon with Great teams without any earning it at all you cant deny it. She actuall was in LOWER SERIES trying to earn it .
She won unlike Danica in lower series busted her butt and still has the passion even if she sucks for now on still she ahs more passion for racing than most in there that is selfish or heartless, with big egos.

4:19 of 7/2024 , a dr has to be part of the tools they work with to be successful. Haley was a driver, she sat in the seat but never became part of the car !! A true driver can hear and feel when they hit the limit of the car in the corner but have to push the limit every second of every lap and she can’t do that . The Truth and facts about AM racing in time will be revealed. In my opinion I never heard of Am racing so that is saying a lot!!!However I have a few concerns pertaining to how AM racing has progressed from 2023 to 2024. First this a new Team to the Xfinity series to say the least. From what I understand they did mediocre in 2023 with Moffett. Yeah, he has moved on for the 2024 season. Stewart Haas said they’re leaving NASCAR from what I understand. It is pretty obvious that they’ve only had a very mediocre race cars to field races. The fact remains that if they actually had a winning team or let’s just say a truly top 10 car in every race then Joey Logano would’ve won the race or had been fighting to win the race because they had a really decent car. Which I’ve watched a few of these Xfinity races and what I have learned is that most of the time they couldn’t get their set ups, right the car was under powered, etc. They seem to be always struggling. Also how much practice time did the Team put in? Last I understood the best drivers are those that receive the most time in the Race Car period. I remember hearing Halie’s opinions pertaining that on number of occasions! I don’t care how good of a driver you are if the car is not set up correct for the track you’re only going to be as good as it gets! It took a two NASCAR champion to wheeled his way to a top 10 finish. And that is saying a lot! By did Deegan ever get any type of help learning how to drive the Car or was she put into it without being given those basic tools as well!!! On another not reading these Comments reminds me of a bunch of woman talking shit about their husbands!!! Hailie Deegan is not the problem especially if they fire the Crew Chief before her!!! If the over all team was descent then they surely wouldn’t have need a 2 time NASCAR Champ to tell them otherwise!!!

All this bull shit bout she didn't have help and they didn't give her good enough equipment, it's plain and simple she should have stayed in trucks for atleast 4 to 5 years to learn how this bigger racing works but she went after the attention she doesn't know enough yet to be tryin to run up the classes also the owner of the team has the final say so if she wasn't showin any improvement you have to get someone else she has to take the time to learn more she is still a female in the sport so she is gonna get more eyes on her then other drivers so she needs to learn more then move up and show how good she is
