I’ve watched NASCAR for as long as it has been on TV. I would agree with you 100% about Bill France jr. But one other huge thing that changed NASCAR forever, was when Dale Earnhardt was killed at Daytona. I wasn’t an Earnhardt fan, but everything changed that year in 2001. NASCAR year by year has ruined the sport. I watched everything that was on TV. Practice, qualifying, races, and it didn’t matter which series. But I have since stopped watching racing. You don't try to "force" someone to sign a contract before midnight if you're negotiating fairly. "IF YOU DON'T THINK THE CONTRACT IS FAIR DON'T SIGN IT" If all of teams don't sign the contract it kind of boxes NASCAR in a box.
Try to keep in mind that a NASCAR event, to the fans, is entertainment. That means that NASCAR is the promoter and the teams, and the drivers, are the entertainment. And my experience tells me that the promoter never makes as much as the entertainers. Where would NASCAR be without the drivers & teams? The same place any promoter would be without a client. I cheer 23/11 and FRM for standing their ground. Its just good business sense. Each driver/team is a private contractor. And each contractor should be able to negotiate in good faith. I wish more teams had the "balls" to stand with these two teams.
NASCAR teams could go on strike like NFL, NBA, and others. How many charters are available? The number 15 came up. There are at least 36 teams racing. Do they all have charters? There used to be at least 43 teams. What happened. If the terms of the contract were discussed over 2 years why would the owners find it difficult to sign. There are only so many teams who can afford to buy a charter. It’s all confusing.
