as a christian socialist in arizona with very few people around to connect with in this red hell state, its great to see what you guys are doing. Also the depiction of a lone island is very apt.
To all of you you who don't believe - I understand and you probably have very good reasons for that. We Christians have a lot of work to do to reclaim our moral legitimacy. But the truth of God's love means that you are our brothers and sisters whether we or you deserve it. Thank you for watching this.
@@hugopatino-cano672 I think it's normal to go through these phases. At some points in your life you feel very spiritual, at others you feel about as spiritual as a rock. It's important not to push yourself. Spirituality to me is about faith. Faith that things can work out, that they can get better. That despite the evidence we can create a world motivated by cooperation and common goals instead of competition and self-interest. All too often life makes it very difficult to have faith in these things, and I think that's when we feel un-spiritual.
@@hugopatino-cano672 Technically, according to Protestant theology at any rate, it is impossible to will yourself into faith. Faith in scripture is a gift that God gives to those who seek "Ask and ye shall recieve, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you". Faith is one of the top three most important of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit St. Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 10 -13, ending in the famous passage about love "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." So don't blame yourself. It's like how, no matter what bullshit the likes of Tony Robbins spout, you can't will yourself out of depression or into miraculous career success. It's about giving in to something, letting something be given you which was always beyond your power, along with forgiveness. And the kingdom of God belongs to the poor, and the meek shall inherit the earth, because what God really hates isn't "fags", it's capitalism.
Hugo Patino-Cano your story sounds all too familiar. I grew up southern baptist, eventually became atheist. Was infatuated with new atheism, and was very hostile towards religion/spirituality for a long time. I’ve come back to having more spirituality in my life. It doesn’t have to be some strict doctrine, just whatever works for you individually. I would highly suggest checking out the Unitarian Universalist church. Specifically, the All Souls Unitarian UA-cam channel. It’s services from the UU church in Tulsa and they have some really good sermons. Also, I would suggest looking into some Buddhist teachings. It’s more about gaining control of your mind than anything supernatural.
Great podcast. Thanks for the free access. Being a student, I couldn't have afforded it on Patreon. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work. I'll start supporting all these great podcasts as soon as I graduate and have a stable full time job. 👍🏾

I am very glad that this org exists.
I'm an atheist, but parts of this interview nearly moved me to tears listening on the drive home from work.
God bless you all, comrades.
