Actually the second version. Lou Johnson did it originally in the summer of 1964. Sandie's version came out about two months after that in September 1964.
Very good song too, very well sung by Sandie. Eddy Mitchell had sung it also under the title 'Toujours un coin qui me rappelle ', very good too. RIP Burt Bacharach...
@@Marc-lq2qf You're welcome, though I have to correct that while Lou Johnson did have the original in July 1964, Sandie's version came out two months later in September 1964.
Originally done by Lou Johnson three months before this version came out in October 1964 when it got to #1 in the UK (was a minor hit in the US in January 1965). This was also done by Teddy Neely Five in 1967, Dionne Warwick in 1968, R.B. Greaves in early 1970 (follow-up to his huge hit "Take a Letter, Maria") and most famously by Naked Eyes in 1983.
@@jacksugden8190 Naked Eyes has a couple of other hits in the US, most notably their follow-up to their remake of this "Promises Promises." Their version of this was the biggest hit version in the US, hitting #8 in the late spring of 1983.
What a great singer. And a fabulous song. Sandie is fabulous ❤
This song is immortal 🎶👍
I could listen to Sandies wonderful voice all day. This song is one of her best.
40 years after the Naked eyes ' sing...suddenly I find this ...whooa ...the original song !!.

Thank you!
Lou Johnson actually recorded it first in the summer of 1964. Sandie's version came out a few months later towards the end of '64-beginning of '65.
@@WaltGekko Ok, thank you for these informations

Never heard of Naked Eyes

I'm surprised no one ever thought to have Sandie Show's version of this mixed with the beat from the Naked Eyes version in 1983.
I don´t wanna spoil the party Casandra but isn´t this great track from 1964? Best regards from a great Sandie fan :)
yes!
No. 1 in November, 1964.
Interestingly, exactly one year later she was on Shindig! again performing Long Live Love: ua-cam.com/video/HsITtZQhzQk/v-deo.html
