There's one more item that I suggest. Place 4 feet protectors/spacers under the legs and, if you want, the bottom stretcher. If the table is to be moved in the future the new floor will not be scratched or prevent the table moving with the rubber type feet or if the table needs to be moved, use something soft like felt. Use the material that you best prefer for the purpose that is deemed best.
I actually got emotional when you wrote your names on the table. Both my parents have passed, and doing things with my children doesn't happen very often. I miss building engines and vehicles with my father. You all enjoy this time with Paul, "dad", because it doesn't last long.
Finish this project by adding a cork topper for now, you know you're going to use that as a work bench during the rest of the remodel. Keep those dents and dings confined to the cork!! Good job Summer, Rad and Dad!
I love the table, but what I love even more was Paul writing their names on the underside of the table. ❤ I miss my dad. He passed away when I was 18 yo. Your relationship, Paul & Summer, brings back the sweetest memories for me.
That is a proper Family Memory Table! That's the kind of table where you have EVERYBODY over for a big holiday dinner, everyone is elbow to elbow, the kids darting around playing waiting for dessert to be served, everybody telling stories, laughing about the lumpy gravy... Man that is SO cool!!
Excellent teaching video and it's a perfect project to involve your daughter in the process.Great blessing to see your kids learn a new skill and accomplish something like this new table. Every time she sits down, with the family, to share a meal together she will remember her dad investing into her life. 10 out of 10 Paul!
Summer- so proud of you for wanting to learn how to use power tools!! But safety is the 1st and most important thing to learn!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tie your hair back!! You are too beautiful to have any tool suck your hair up!! Buddy of mine lost his ear and destroyed his cheek when his hair got sucked into a handheld router.
I got my (long) beard caught in an electric drill! Aside from having a 'hole' in my beard where we had to cut the drill out, the only thing hurt was my pride. We all got a good laugh out of me walking around with an electric drill hanging off my face by my beard... so it was worth it. Today's Public Service Announcement: Safety is NO JOKE kids! Learn to see into the future. And, when you hear that little voice in your head warning you to stop... fer Gawdsake, STOP! .
A beautiful table by a beautiful family! Paul is great teacher and clearly a great dad. My dear grandfather played a similar role for me when I was growing up and taught me skills that I never knew I needed but have used to great benefit over time. That table will be cherished and repurposed for many, many years. (I picture it becoming a craft table for the kiddies, covered in with Lego sets)
Could also chamfer the corners, and get rid of the fragile sharp 90's. IMO, Knots and other natural "imperfections" can often make a project more beautiful. Especially if they're going for the rustic look, just stabilizing them with some epoxy or CA glue will make them look quite good when finished. @21:59 I mean... good call on tossing the hair, but your baggy un-buttoned shirt is just as big of a hazard if the wind catches it...
Paul: portalign? Adjustable, angles, takes up no truck space. Seems like the perfect tool for your build. Kids: hint, Dad's Christmas without breaking the budget.
after seeing the painted black base, i almost think it wouldve looked neat charred! loved the "signatures" and date to wrap the project up. beautiful touch
I would personally add a few small felt pads to the bottom of the table legs, just so that anyone dragging it across the floor doesn't A) Cause scratches to the floor, and B) Mess up the paint on the table legs (black paint marks on the floor aren't.. Fun)
Always love seeing Dads and kids working together. My son and daughter worked with me since the time they could walk. They both can change a tire, install and tape drywall, and pretty much anything. Way to go, Paul.
GREAT video, GREAT table! I enjoy woodworking, but I don’t have the tools (and patience) for traditional hidden joinery and other “fine woodworking” techniques. This is a fantastic design/execution that gives the look of fancy woodworking but uses “modern” hardware and tools to make the build simple. I LOVE it too! Thanks, Summer, for getting your hair tied up and out of the way… I was cringing watching your earlier work! Now, all we have to do is get ALL of you more attentive to hearing protection. I have measurable hearing loss in my right ear only, in a frequency range that says “power tools”. I’ve worked office jobs most of my career, so I’m pretty sure that pushing a circular saw for a couple of years as a contractor (and later as a DIY weekend warrior) was the cause. The loss was caught early ‘cuz my “office” job was at a paper mill that required everyone to get annual hearing tests.
Mike, do you need hearing aids? If so, get them. Research out this year indicates that hearing loss is one cause for dementia. Apparently hearing aids help you stay connected to the world and keeps the brain working.
Love seeing Summer working on the table. She is going to have such a beautiful table for years to come. And will have such pride in it due to her helping make it.
I envy the relationship in your family, it's so calming and positive. And the project - well, that is an AWESOME table! Love the color choices and especially the recessed legs that don't get in your way. As always, keep up the nice work!
Yes I do remember. If the entire top was plywood it wouldn’t be a problem. The glued planks of wood are going to expand and contract. Painting the underside will help balance the moisture content and minimize the expansion and contraction.
You can use the planer to make two sides parallel and then make one side a 90 to those with a well set up table saw. Then, you can use the planer to make the final side parallel.
That table is stunning, really love how it came out, and how strong it is. Love that the legs are recessed too. I grew up in a large family (10) and Dad used a pedestal table most of the time so everyone could get around it. But it was not terribly stable. Now I have a 4 leg table that I love, but the legs do get in the way. Your solution is excellent! Love seeing Summer taking part on camera, the Father/Daughter collab is great to see.
Paul you did a nice job on that table. I make a rolling island for my square kitchen. It rolls into the corner or it baking a lot of stuff you can fold up the back for additional surface area and then you can walk around the whole table in the middle of the room. Built it in my living room over three weeks. That was a fun project for me.
Wow! That turned out great. I was a little skeptical after watching the first video. However, after seeing the final product in this video, it turned out great. Great job Paul, Summer, and Rad!
Paul, Rockler sells a really cool bag that will contain all those chips, and if you're inside, it works well keeping dust particles to a minimum. I believe it ran me $100. I have that same planner in my furniture shop and it delivers great results.
Great project - not too complicated, super useful, and saves a ton of money over buying something at a store! I might have tried some black stain before using the black paint to make it more durable from feet kicking it, but time will tell if it holds up. Another thing you could still add is some low-profile feet to put on the corners of the base. If they install via screws, then you can back them out a tiny bit in case there’s any minor variations in the floor and the table will still be well situated on the ground without rocking.
One of my favorite stains is a homemade concoction of steel wool and white distilled vinegar. You just let that stew in a glass jar for a few days and then it turns most wood a really dark brown or even black color. Really nice rustic look that I normally can't get with your typical home center store. Awesome project and cool build!
For these custom builds that turn out so well, you should create plans with the dimensions etc to provide to your subscribers (or to publish and sell files for profit). That's an amazing table, and I'm sure many people would love to have it. Be nice to have a price breakdown of the material too!
A Cyclone Dust collector works better on a planer than a vacuum. Most vacuums can't keep up with the output of the planers blower. Your a brave person using a belt sander finishing a table top.
Great to see Summer getting involved and Paul is a great dad and teacher but have her put her hair up. She is just asking for an accident. More Summer, less hair down :). Ok, around the 22 minute mark her hair is up.
A Fixie was born from that table. 😊 For those who don’t know a “The Fixies” is a scientific kids show. They said they’re born from the soul of the creation when humans make things.
16:47 One of my favorite Stud Pack details is the way Paul pronounces parallel. (Buzzsaw, it’s the next day, wagos, and a fist bump with sound effect completes my bingo card.)
I love your videos, but as a woodworker I have to mention this for anyone looking to make a solid wood table top. I think that you'll find that the edge banding on each end of the table top will split with seasonal expansion and contraction. There are three choices to prevent this problem: 1) Don't apply cross grain band, just sand the end grain; 2) Use "breadboard" ends that are tenoned and mortised to allow for wood movement; 3) Use a thin wood veneer over a stable substrate (like MDF) to create the top.
Paul, Suggestion. Put some threaded inserts in the bottom 4 corners of the base and add 4 leveling feet. This will allow you to level the table if the floor isn't perfectly level AND protect that beautiful new floor from getting marred when the table is invariably moved around...
One of the first projects I did with my daughter was building her a dining room table. Making memories that will last as long as the table! Great job 👏🏻
Great video to all of you. Nice to see a family working together on this project. Hope Summer &Rad make some great memories in their new house with their table with family & friends.
I love the dewalt planer the only issue i have with it is with finer work like furniture building it tends to have sniping. Make sure you pass another piece of wood behind each cut to avoid it.
In your pantry have you thought about making it into a butler's pantry by adding A butler's pantry typically includes a sink, counter space, and sometimes a refrigerator or wine cooler, while a walk-in pantry typically has shelves, cabinets, and drawers for storage, as well as space for larger items like appliances and bulk food storage.
Yes! Summer's plan is to eventually connect the house and garage with a sun room and laundry and convert the existing laundry to a butler's pantry or something
Man how many comments did y'all get about summers hair anyways great looking table and you picked pine sometimes it takes a lot do get it good and right but Paul will get it there
I gotta say the table came out way better than I thought. I just figured it was a cheap pine table that would look nice but not great. You see lots of pine projects look substandard or second rate but this table came out really nice. I should’ve known with Paul’s attention to detail and perfectionist approach. Summer did a nice job with the stain and putting her hair up lol.
Another 👍🏼👍🏼 video! (Personally, for “beauty” I’d have kept as many of the knots as possible visible if staining, but if painting it like y’all did, I’d have gotten rid of the knots too.)
There's a few comments about Summer's hair, and I think it would be worth pointing out in a video that anything dangling or loose can easily get pulled into a high revolution tool like a track saw, table saw, etc. I always love the videos and the family vibes, so I would hate to think of one of you all getting hurt.
That turned out fantastic. I used to sell furniture, and this is without question better looking and better made than most of the stuff you'll find in stores.
That planner will over power the shop vac. I have the same one. May sound odd, but I just used a pillowcase with a large spring clamp I had laying around (don't recall what it was from) on it for a while. Used a string tied to a corner of the case and hung it from my garage door with a hook on the sting. stayed out of the way. Caught everything and works great. Just make sure you empty it. Once full it will blow it off and spit everything down your drive. A friend told me that cause I wouldn't know from personal experience or anything ;-) I eventually ended up with a rockler dust right bag that has a sight window on it. Used it with that for some time with no issues. It has a blower in it so no real need for suction unless you have a larger collector that can move some dust!
Thanks so much for watching! If you would like to see the part 1 video, here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/zGzg4UltO38/v-deo.htmlsi=cjwzYr9_9abGl0pq
Paul shows all men how to be a father.
My mom would've made sure she put her hair up when using the power tools xD
There's one more item that I suggest. Place 4 feet protectors/spacers under the legs and, if you want, the bottom stretcher. If the table is to be moved in the future the new floor will not be scratched or prevent the table moving with the rubber type feet or if the table needs to be moved, use something soft like felt. That's exactly what my comment was going to be regarding. Your comment is a lot more concise than mine tend to be. Thank you.
I actually got emotional when you wrote your names on the table. Both my parents have passed, and doing things with my children doesn't happen very often. I miss building engines and vehicles with my father. You all enjoy this time with Paul, "dad", because it doesn't last long.
Love this!
Why buy a $2000+ dollar table when you can create a priceless memory that will withstand many generations!
Paul, out of everything I have seen you make, summer is one of the prettiest. Rad is one lucky guy! Keep up the great work, guys.
Thanks 👍
Dad signing the table for summer... priceless
Paul is great at everything he does with construction, but it doesn't compare to how great he is as a father.
Finish this project by adding a cork topper for now, you know you're going to use that as a work bench during the rest of the remodel. Keep those dents and dings confined to the cork!! Good job Summer, Rad and Dad!
Thanks! Strict rule we have now: do not put any tools, etc. on the table top 😁
Don't know why I'm more surprised by the beautiful penmanship than the table.
I was thinking the same thing! Amazing handwriting, along with the quality craftsmanship.
i thought i was the only one 😁
Lots of comments on my cursive; thanks! I've always thought my writing was a mess
I love the table, but what I love even more was Paul writing their names on the underside of the table. ❤ I miss my dad. He passed away when I was 18 yo. Your relationship, Paul & Summer, brings back the sweetest memories for me.
Thank you so much!!

You should look into a cyclonic dust separator for your shop vac. It’s a game changer for extending filter and bag life
Paul is a gem.
Never realized that a green button on a Festool meant it had a function. Great tip. Table looks amazing.
Excellent teaching video and it's a perfect project to involve your daughter in the process.Great blessing to see your kids learn a new skill and accomplish something like this new table. That table will be cherished and repurposed for many, many years. (I picture it becoming a craft table for the kiddies, covered in with Lego sets)
Thanks!! Covered in Legos would be insane! I actually built a "lego table" for my kids years ago; had sides on it to contain them all
Pro Tip: Make sure pens and pencils have a pad underneath the paper to prevent indenting the soft wood. BTDT. Homework memories...
37 minutes of building a table- I’m in.
Could also chamfer the corners, and get rid of the fragile sharp 90's.

covering the shop vac cartridge with a pool sock is genius...I have the waterproof model and can't wait to test it out.
Summer and Rad will always cherish this table...Well done Paul...
Awesome summer!!!! The boys need to get you a cute shirt
HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS.
Paul: portalign? Adjustable, angles, takes up no truck space. Seems like the perfect tool for your build. Kids: hint, Dad's Christmas without breaking the budget.
This is such a neat family project.
Contender for the Best Dad in the world right there! Great Job......
21:50 LOL! Sorry Summer, you have 2,000 Annoying Internet Dads, all worried about your safety. 😂
😂
after seeing the painted black base, i almost think it wouldve looked neat charred! loved the "signatures" and date to wrap the project up. beautiful touch
Nice work Summer! Oh, and Rad and Paul.
Props to those who voted for black paint. Really looks nice!
I would personally add a few small felt pads to the bottom of the table legs, just so that anyone dragging it across the floor doesn't A) Cause scratches to the floor, and B) Mess up the paint on the table legs (black paint marks on the floor aren't.. Fun)
I have always put felt pads under all our furniture that sits on a hard surface floor. No marring and the furniture is easier to move.
Knots give the wood character , dr Whiteside wood shop.
Paul is the dad we all wish we'd had!
Always love seeing Dads and kids working together. My son and daughter worked with me since the time they could walk. They both can change a tire, install and tape drywall, and pretty much anything. Way to go, Paul.
Get Summer to tie her hair behind her head when using power tools!
Agreed! I was just going to say that when I saw your comment.
@@liskaerik just made this comment and... looked at comments and everyone saying the same thing!! woops lmao
Calm down OSHA
She did put her hair back before using the power tools. She was aware of potential danger before doing the task.
Came to the comments to say the same thing.
GREAT video, GREAT table!

Thanks for the advice, it makes sense. Don’t need aids at present but I have no aversion to the thought if them.
Hot damn, his penmanship is on point
Love seeing Summer working on the table. She is going to have such a beautiful table for years to come. And will have such pride in it due to her helping make it.

This turned out awesome. What a great memory that table will be for the rest of your lives!

It has finished plywood there, remember?

Thanks so much! Family of 10 here also :) mom, dad, 8 kids; we had 2 dining room tables to fit us all
Jordan's cameo was very Hollywood [like Hitchcock or M Night]

Wow! That turned out great. I was a little skeptical after watching the first video. However, after seeing the final product in this video, it turned out great. Great job Paul, Summer, and Rad!
I was skeptical too :)!

Put some leg levelers at each corner to prevent rocking and makes it easier to move the table around. Great job !!
Thank you for a simple design & finishes that most DIYer can copy or modify!! It looks terrific!! KUTGW
Thank you very much!
Great project - not too complicated, super useful, and saves a ton of money over buying something at a store! Beautiful table! It will make a great dining room table and it can double as the Stud Pack board room table.😊
Love your table Summer, oh and the two guy’s helping you are pretty good…😂
You're a good Dad Paul !!!!!!!
A good looking table, a great looking family.
For these custom builds that turn out so well, you should create plans with the dimensions etc to provide to your subscribers (or to publish and sell files for profit). That's an amazing table, and I'm sure many people would love to have it.
Be nice to have a price breakdown of the material too!
Love Pica pencils!
Love your work and videos❤
So much positive energy and knowledge.
Greetings from Poland 😊
Thank you so much!
Another stud pack standard project done and done well! Strong work, team!
A Cyclone Dust collector works better on a planer than a vacuum. Most vacuums can't keep up with the output of the planers blower. Your a brave person using a belt sander finishing a table top.
Right on time for a Happy Thanksgiving!!! Yeehaw!
Summer, I’m digging the Wago hat. lol.
Yeah she took that from Rad... it's hers now 😄
Great to see Summer getting involved and Paul is a great dad and teacher but have her put her hair up. She is just asking for an accident. More Summer, less hair down :). Ok, around the 22 minute mark her hair is up.
A Fixie was born from that table. 😊
For those who don’t know a “The Fixies” is a scientific kids show. They said they’re born from the soul of the creation when humans make things.
16:47 One of my favorite Stud Pack details is the way Paul pronounces parallel. (Buzzsaw, it’s the next day, wagos, and a fist bump with sound effect completes my bingo card.)
Great stuff Studpak
I love your videos, but as a woodworker I have to mention this for anyone looking to make a solid wood table top. I think that you'll find that the edge banding on each end of the table top will split with seasonal expansion and contraction. There are three choices to prevent this problem: 1) Don't apply cross grain band, just sand the end grain; 2) Use "breadboard" ends that are tenoned and mortised to allow for wood movement; 3) Use a thin wood veneer over a stable substrate (like MDF) to create the top.
I was worried about that too.
I mentioned this to Summer before we started. I told her about haunched tenons, sliding dovetail breadboards, etc. she wasn't having any of that 😁
I wish all my furniture was like this. Simple, inexpensive and best of all, functional!!
Gotta love those steel toed safety flip flops
He is a stuntman true and through.
I swear Summer must have family in Crown Point. Reminds me of my cousins and nieces so much. Be good y'all.
Paul, Suggestion. Put some threaded inserts in the bottom 4 corners of the base and add 4 leveling feet. This will allow you to level the table if the floor isn't perfectly level AND protect that beautiful new floor from getting marred when the table is invariably moved around...
Looks so good! Well done stud pack 2 team!
That table will be an heirloom and Studpack’s grand children will be eating off that and maybe great grand kids!
I believe it's possible to square on a planer?
Place it on a board>shim it so one side is square>plane top>plane the last two sides
The table came out beautifully!
One of the first projects I did with my daughter was building her a dining room table. Making memories that will last as long as the table! Great job 👏🏻
Great video to all of you. Nice to see a family working together on this project. Hope Summer &Rad make some great memories in their new house with their table with family & friends.

Thanks! The top is spruce, the base is pine. We do love the way the top turned out 👊
I gotta say the table came out way better than I thought. I just figured it was a cheap pine table that would look nice but not great. Those cardboard corners probably have 35,000 miles on 'em :)
Wow, Paul, that's some real nice handwriting.
Thank you kindly
That table is a masterpiece Paul
Thank you sir!!!
What a beautiful table. Great job!!!
Another 👍🏼👍🏼 video!
(Personally, for “beauty” I’d have kept as many of the knots as possible visible if staining, but if painting it like y’all did, I’d have gotten rid of the knots too.)

This is such a great vid. So many tips, way more than the main channel. Love all of it!
There's a few comments about Summer's hair, and I think it would be worth pointing out in a video that anything dangling or loose can easily get pulled into a high revolution tool like a track saw, table saw, etc. I always love the videos and the family vibes, so I would hate to think of one of you all getting hurt.
Dad & daughter building something together tugs at my heart strings! Nice work everyone! What a great heirloom table! Paul does it again! Kaboom!
Great job Summer!
That turned out fantastic. I used to sell furniture, and this is without question better looking and better made than most of the stuff you'll find in stores.

Rad, we need a story time video on that elk euro mount!!!
Summer looks like she's having fun learning from her dad
