PC!!! What a lovely table and what a wonderful piece of art. You say it only cost you $50 to make but the time factor (of both your investment and that of Mother Nature) has to be considered. Also, your artistry; it is clear that your work is from a physical 'conversation' with your materials. I enjoy the way you respond organically with your materials. Thank you for making these videos - they are inspirational.
Agreed wholeheartedly with changing the finish on the leg - so many woodworkers make everything that shellac yellow colour. P.S. good solution to the knot - it actually levelled up the piece.
Woodworking in itself is a craft and an art form. You're molding and shaping wood into a beautiful creation. Carpentry imo is as much of an art form as sculpting. It takes true vision and dedication to produce the quality of products you push out. You sir, are an artist. Even the greats took inspiration from nature
Re photos, I've been a professional photographer for over 40 years and you did a great job. First, a lot of people 'think' they want/need a white background or a lighter colour, but *black* is the way to go for product photography. You then did a 'side lit' shot without any 'opposite' lighting which gave it a greater 'depth' of field, light/shadow making it more dramatic and that always pops the object out and highlights any great features, especial timber with the grain. So, coming from an old film/digital user "you done good" as they say.
@@BlacktailStudio No worries mate. There is *"only"* one word to describe photography: *'LIGHT'* I learnt a lot from the old 'masters', not photographers, but painters. Rembrandt, especially being the 'Master Of Light'.

When i stripped all the god awful layers of paints and finishes off (5 layers) i got a pleasant surprise. The wood turned out to be birds eye Maple. Base and table top!! When i saw that i new that table was staying with me, especially considering it took me a few months to work thru all them layers of paint off and on. I used one layer of dark walnut stain and the birds eye popped very nice and put poly on. It has joined my other dark walnut pieces in the house. Now to find some spalted wood........ 😉☺

At first I didn't care for your base, but when I saw the sharpness of the edges in your studio photo I changed my mind. I love the sharp contrast you get between the shadow and light. it almost looks like a ribbon. Nice job! Also, That is reallly beautiful wood. You do a great job bringing out the natural grain.
I love it. I adore Spalting. I used your advice and it works great. Just adding a black back drop makes such a difference
You’re a content creator. It’s a Mac. You can go grocery shopping cheaper with a wheelbarrow, but if you make a living from it, you get the pickup.
@@Nick-nk5mf sometimes it does mean that. i think many mac users are extremely biased because there are really cheap/affordable PCs from many different companies that range from shitty to OK, so they compare THEM to their mac instead of an actual high end PC. i built my own PC that would run circles around a mac at the same price point. people will find any reason to justify buying their expensive toys, dongles, being locked into a bad software ecosystem, etc.

I'm telling you right now 100% you should absolutely start streaming the whole sanding process. I love the monologs that go with your videos but even just a boring stream of you sanding I could imagine Watch😂ung from time to time. I bet you get a few viewers
One heart and now you got me Binge watching.
Not a bad way to pass a rainy day recovering from covid.
PC, Cam. And, Led Zeppelin! I saw them in Chicago on Easter Sunday 1977, best concert ever! Back to wood, I love spalted Maple, I've done several tables with it and it's a beautiful wood, but yeah, it can be tricky to work with. The rewards are great though.
As much as I am a PC use, for what you are wanting to do, I would recommend a Mac. As for this video, the table turned out beautiful. Something I may attempt once I get my shop up and running. Thank you for taking us through all of your designs and telling us what you are doing as well as why you do what you do... even when you make a mistake, as we all often do, and how you remedy the issue. There are many you-tubers that all you hear is the machines running and I have no idea why they do what they do. Keep up the amazing work and keep the videos coming.
That’s awesome to hear Adrian! Thanks so much
@@BlacktailStudio No worries mate. There is *"only"* one word to describe photography: *'LIGHT'*
I learnt a lot from the old 'masters', not photographers, but painters. Rembrandt, especially being the 'Master Of Light'.
I would love a live stream honestly. Open Q&A while we watch and learn? Yes please!
I just did one on the makers mob 👍🏼
Mac. For design and editing it is by far the best.
That Shatoiancy is soooo freaking nice. Maple is by far my favorite
Curly spalted maple is now my new favorite wood, but is so rare!!
PC just because they are so modifiable as needed. The black lines running across the striping is downright gorgeous here. Like, damn.
PC. But I don't do video or graphic design work. I'd go Mac if I did, I think.
This is my favorite piece I've seen. I like the epoxy tables, but not as much as this. Holy crap. Love it. Also the shout out to other makers!
Love the look of that maple…the black lines are sick.
That table looks so elegant!!!!
Love this table. Beautiful work on making this beauty. I absolutely love spalted woods. Great character in that spalting.
I purchased an antique gate leg kitchen table off of someone for 15 dollars. 😉☺
Probably the best hook I’ve ever heard. “I am able to make THIS (shows an insanely beautiful table) for 40 bucks in a weekend. Stay tuned” wow, never have I been so inclined to watch a video to completion. Good stuff as always.
Love the feedback!
Love the table top. The hole looks nice and organic.
Just found your channel and really like it. Love your dry sense of humor when you talk about comments lmao. I’ll see if I can get pithy. I live vicariously through your table builds. I watch with my 7YO stepson and we love them.
Hey man, you are an artist. You created a beautiful piece of furniture, looking at nature for inspiration is something that almost every single artist does. Don't sell yourself short, your skills just lie in a specific area.
As an IT professional I feel I can really say.... PC, BABY! I was truly cringing, thinking that the table stand would snap at the hole. But after watching what you did to clean it up my faith was restored 😅.
PC I like how you changed the knot hole, it gives a more interesting focal point IMO.
PC for sure, The table top looks fantastic. Great project.
PC, I love the look of spalted Maple. Well done.
No templates or patterns, just one of a kind artwork.
Very nice!
You are not a painter, but you are an artist.
Pretty!! It looks like a celestial maiden shape😀. Fantabulous👌 🙏.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Very therapeutic and calming. I enjoy listening to you talk throughout your videos. Awesome attention to detail with photography and how you are not afraid of showing areas that you can Improve on. God bless
Your replies to "trolls of the week" are fast becoming one of my favorite things about your channel!
(14:08 min.) Oh my god, the furniture looks so nice, I love it. The light wood with the dark constrast, absolutly amazing!
PC or Mac - yeah one of these. I make it all the way to the end even when you give the word away half way through. Just about the only artist on YT that I watch from beginning to end. Am I repeating myself?
P C…darling table and the enlarging the hole worked. Table looks fragile and elegant in a funky way with a gorgeous top.
For photos and videos I'd go with Mac.
That project turned out beautiful.
PC. Love that piece of maple. I'm a big spalted wood fan!
Really really like that spalted table top. Wow.
PC seems more friendly to use. Thanks for all the great videos and the amount of detailed information you provide.
Mac- if I had the money So far this is my favorite table. The wood turned out great 👍
You don't give yourself enough credit. That table required a true artisan to come up with the idea, then to execute it. Well done!
Not a sculptural wood artist but enjoy all makers and artists in all media. I subscribed. Enjoyable and you describe your thought processes.
Oh my god, that is a beautiful curl. Hmmmmm, the spalted or rotten wood makes a nice musical instrument. I would just take the wood like this to the luthiers.
That table top looks like a planet surface from space!!
"MAC" (and I'm a PC person, but MAC is far more versatile). This is SO my favorite & like the redo on the "hole", love the smoother finish. Your bigger table projects are beautiful, but this rotten wood is Gorgeous 😍!!
