+Willem Verheij Smash melee had the same effect but SC2's intro & the variations were all amazing. Games don't really do good intros anymore. Super SF4 was alright but no where near as good as these.
Lrdvltr Really a shame yes, in a way this intro is a celibration of gaming. The old NES game Blue Shadow also had a strong intro though, due to the music. Simple for nowadays but back then it was very cool.
Willem Verheij I agree, more retro games had better intros. Especially since they took up a sizable amount of space on the cartridge / disk (like Silent Hill games 1-4)
The one intro that I would actually love sitting through almost every time I boot up the game. As opposed to every other game where I only see it a few times and skip it every time after.
@@Howlingburd19 You know what? I agree. Soul Calibur 2 is not only one of the best fighting games of all time, it's one of the best video games of all time. In fact, I'd even go as far to say that it's superior to just about all of the Mortal Kombat games. It'd be pretty tough, if not almost impossible, for Bandai and Namco to make another game on par with SC2's quality.
Man, I absolutely love how stupid Mitsurugi’s deal was in this one. “Guns are fucking stupid! You guys are fucking stupid! Who cares about all this modern shit?!”
I love the overall premise of this game. After the events of the first game (at the end of the first game, Nightmare and Soul Edge got defeated by Kilik and Xianghua. They were sucked into Astral Chaos, Inferno’s realm. The evil energy of Inferno and the realm caused the Krita-Yuga, Xianghua’s sword, to reveal itself as Soul Calibur. Inferno was defeated but Xianghua had to leave Soul Calibur behind to save Kilik), Soul Edge got severely damaged and it’s shards were spread across the world. For a little bit, Siegfried reclaimed his own mind, but despite his best efforts to escape the manipulation of Soul Edge, the evil sword took over his body in his sleep. Over time, Soul Edge rebuilt itself enough to the point of where Siegfried got fully possessed again. He ended up taking the helm of Nightmare once more. In this game, which takes place four years after Soul Calibur 1, Nightmare (as Siegfried) tries to get more shards to strengthen the weakened Soul Edge (as shown in the ending of the intro). Everyone else in the roster has their own goals that often tie into Soul Edge, Nightmare, and it’s shards. There’s the premise of Soul Calibur 2.
Back when I had this game, I remember when I used to always watch this every time I wanted to play.I may not know much about Soul Calibur, but I will always remember their names.I played as Kiriku/Kilik alot. :3
This game was fucking electric when it came out. Exciting, smooth, amazing graphics and the perfect evolution of a fighting game legend. Plus the PS2, GC and XB era was so interesting bc all three consoles were on such different levels of features and capabilities but so similar at the same time that comparisons between games were wildly interesting. It hasn’t been the same since and just never will be.
Each version of SC2 had it's own special guest character For Gamecube, there was Link from the Legend of Zelda. For XBOX, there was Spawn from... Well, Spawn. And for PS2(this, apparently), they used Heihachi from Tekken.
Soul caliber 3 is my favourite out of all the soul caliber games because of its conquest mode it was a story out side of the characters separate story modes but this intro is the absolute best
This song, this intro, over a decade old... yet still so beautifully epic to bring a tear to my eye and get me excited.... fuck this game needs a remastering for current gen consoles.
After Kazuya, my dream of having this exact piece playing while the crow flies atop the mountain and puts a Smash invitation on Nightmare's arm is forever dead. But oh well. One can dream.
I mained Nightmare, though cheesing with Raphael was always fun lol. I think the character I want to get good at still is Yoshimitsu, he's got so much character
I actually like Soul Calibur 6. The fighting gameplay is *VERY* good, the presentation is nice, it feels loyal to the series (in terms of story and lore), and the character creation is fun. However, I just wish there were more modes (like Team Battle, and “Extra”), and more characters. I’m way too good at Soul Calibur games to play only as one character per match, so I need EDGE MASTER OR CHARADE NOW >:(
1:55 THIS is what you came for. -Shard of Soul Calibur lands in Knightmare's claw. Knightmare -"Soul Calibur has finally been found!!" -EYE OF SOUL EDGE AWAKENS "OHHHHHHHHHH SSSSSHHHHHHHHH..." DUN DUNNA DUNNA DUN DUN DUNNA DUNN PLANETS ALIGN FOR THIS MONUMENTAL MOMENT! YOU NOW ENTER HE WORLD OF SOUL CALIBUR TWOOOOOO!
The character models in this intro and game should have been the character models in Soul Calibur 4 & 5 because oh my god do their new facial designs look awful compared to this intro.
I saw the guy from Tekken (Heihashi if I am not mistaken) and I was confused cause in my game appeared Link. Then I remembered there were different guest characters depending on the console or something like that 😅
that broom guy who chases yun sung off should have been playable
He'd be too OP for the game!
SoylentRobot ikr
SoylentRobot should of never replaced Hwang for yun seong
that guy was chasing him out? i always thought he was calling for help and Yun Sung was jumping into action.
tko930 I’m pretty sure. He was trying to get him to come back. Yun did run off after soul edge on his own without telling anyone.
One of the most epic video game intros EVER.
this and Dawn of War were the best back in the days
TheWizard don't forget red alert 1
the first one was better
Facts
Shut the fuck up with that word “epic” already. Fuck
now THAT game developers, is how you make a god damn intro
koiv4U LMAO
Final 30 seconds never fail to give me goosebumps
Pussys
My whole family loved the intro!!!
You loved that part as well?. Hell I thought I was the only one.
I love how this intro really got you exited to play the game. I don't think thats a thing anymore these days. Such a shame.
+Willem Verheij Unfortunately yes.
+Willem Verheij Smash melee had the same effect but SC2's intro & the variations were all amazing. Games don't really do good intros anymore. Super SF4 was alright but no where near as good as these.

i think the last game to do it was oblivion to my knowledge
One of the very best videogame intros ever. Seriously. This music is totally epic!
This Was When Video Games Had Good Intros.
Year 2019...still THE fucking best intro in the series.
sad but true lol. SC6 doesn't even have an intro....
It’s sad because i played SC2 sooo muchh but never played others games after. I hope they are better than SC2!
I'd go as far as to say best in all fighting games, maybe the best in all games period.
I am 19 years old and just remember when this intro was the most hyping shit ever. Still is ngl.
nah soul edge got it beat
0:56 this Flamenco guitar sound is out of this world!
"I will show you, THE GREATEST NIGHTMARE!"
Souls Give Me Strength!!!
"Offer you SOUL!"
I've been waiting for this day... for TOO LONG!
Ivy vs taki = battle of the bewbs
The one intro that I would actually love sitting through almost every time I boot up the game. As opposed to every other game where I only see it a few times and skip it every time after.
0:31 That piano man........ Goosebumps every time
And the electric guitar man throughout the whole intro is so legendary
Sooo gooood
This intro amazes me even after all these years. That's a sign of a true masterpiece.
That’s what happens when you’re not only one of the best fighting games of all time, but one of the best video games of all time!
@@Howlingburd19

As Soul Calibur VI puts it:
THE LEGEND WILL NEVER DIE
"Mortal kombat is the best fighting game ever" -- um think again sweetie
Dudeee I played this game when I was 6. I’m 23 now and I still love this trailer to death. 1:13 to 1:54 is my favorite part!
1:55 From the first time I saw this scene I knew this would be one of my favourite fighting game characters of all time
Same, except he is my favorite of all time.
Love the nightmare part...favorite character by far lol
The Mitsurugi shot is golden.
God fucking dammit Mitsurugi, is it even possible to be more badass?
So beautiful yet almost 20 years old :o One my favorites GC game, my favourite console.
Gotta give it up to Maxi for fighting a demon with nothing but two sticks and a chain holding them together. Shit is tough.
Soul Calibur VI
The Ivy vs Taki scenes were the coolest. Kilik, Xianguah and Maxi being introduced comes to a close second.
The song is so epic ! *0*
Jiggle physics...... *snicker* I remember THIS game. Still have it somewhere too.
it's available for download on both xbox live and psn if you didn't know
weird how after all these years it still feels like the best in the series...
I meant I have the play-station 2 disc in my Xbox box.
Man, I absolutely love how stupid Mitsurugi’s deal was in this one. “Guns are fucking stupid! You guys are fucking stupid! Who cares about all this modern shit?!”

Damn I want to learn to play Raphael's intro on the guitar sounds badass!! And this game brings back memories..
Nobody:
This soundtrack: *Mixes classical instruments with an electric guitar except it actually works and sounds amazing*
THE HYPEST GAMEPLAY ON UA-cam!!!!!
Each version of SC2 had it's own special guest character
For Gamecube, there was Link from the Legend of Zelda.

And for PS2(this, apparently), they used Heihachi from Tekken.
Best Opening out of all the SOUL franchise.
best intro ever in the soul series
1:55 is the part that always stuck with me. I think it's the music and the fact that Soul Edge is the most interesting part of the entire series.
I loved playing heihachi in this game, and i play him in the tekken series :)
Transcending history and the world a tale of souls and swords eternally retold
This was the first pre-rendered, high definition, full motion video I ever saw.
I couldn't even play the game after watching it. I was too awestruck.
Soul caliber 3 is my favourite out of all the soul caliber games because of its conquest mode it was a story out side of the characters separate story modes but this intro is the absolute best
The music and whole thing always used to get me hyped to play as a kid. Such good memories
Dat guitar
Under the Stars of Destiny. Such an appropriate song for this phenomenal intro!!
The most badass intro ever
Back in 2003, I watched this intro countless times
i had to lose this game. i still have my ps2 and could be playing this game right now. RIP soul calibur 2
Still love this intro to this day. And I definitely put the volume up too
Still holds up after all these years
I was so hyped for this game in 03 and I was a beast as Ivy. she was my main along with spawn and sophitia
Joey JoJo I'm a boss with yeung Sun(correct me if I said that wrong)and along with him would be heiachi
I mained Nightmare, though cheesing with Raphael was always fun lol. I think the character I want to get good at still is Yoshimitsu, he's got so much character
Freaking nightmare on that massive spire sent chills down my spine
Best, intro, ever.
Soul Calibur II HD: Necrid is back, baby.
when soul calibur was still lit
I actually like Soul Calibur 6. The fighting gameplay is *VERY* good, the presentation is nice, it feels loyal to the series (in terms of story and lore), and the character creation is fun. However, I just wish there were more modes (like Team Battle, and “Extra”), and more characters.
I’m way too good at Soul Calibur games to play only as one character per match, so I need EDGE MASTER OR CHARADE NOW >:(
This is still the best video game opening of all time.
1:51
FIGHTERPEDIA
I grew up with the gamecube version so it was weird to not see Link
I'm not a fighting game fan, but I fucking loved this one.
have to say pretty epic...but im glad to have siegfried again
The nightmare scene was my favorite scene at all times
Still so badass to watch Mitsurugi just TANK those bullets
1:55 THIS is what you came for.
-Shard of Soul Calibur lands in Knightmare's claw.
Knightmare -"Soul Calibur has finally been found!!"
-EYE OF SOUL EDGE AWAKENS
"OHHHHHHHHHH SSSSSHHHHHHHHH..."
DUN DUNNA DUNNA DUN DUN DUNNA DUNN
PLANETS ALIGN FOR THIS MONUMENTAL MOMENT!
YOU NOW ENTER HE WORLD OF SOUL CALIBUR TWOOOOOO!
that guitar solo when taki deflect ivy \m/
The character models in this intro and game should have been the character models in Soul Calibur 4 & 5 because oh my god do their new facial designs look awful compared to this intro.
Best Soul Calibur
Good thing you uploaded this! Thanks
!
Love maxi. He's my favorite character with all the combos lol he's so quick too
oh mah gawd my feels
Best Soul "Calibur" intro certainly, but merely second-best to the Soul "Edge" intro -- the progenitor of the Calibur series.
Remember those good old days when games were epic
BEST GAME/GAME INTRO EVER!Nothing Can Compare.Soul Calibur 3 Is Really Fun Too
Never gonna happen but imagine that crow had a Smash invitation 1:55
I'd fucking cry. I don't think I even could realize how much I want Nightmare until we had him in the game. But yeah. Never gonna happen.

Best fighting game intro ever imo.
It is. He was the guest character for PS2.
Back in the day when you would swap out discs of games you did not own with friends.
and so began switchings from Microsoft and Sony from individual unique characters.
favorite of the series
Only Soulcalibur 6 tops this game.
Back when Mitsurugi looked like a total BADASS.. unlike today 🤦♂️
His skin’s too pale, like a Koop idol.
1:05 it's Amy?
wow. okay that comeback was just great. you win! XD
Fcuking awesome.
because of this I remembered
soul blade intro..
You know we'll be great if they did a remake of this
Fav girl player: Talim
Fav boy player: Kilik
Mine too!!!
holy shit the little girl in Raphaels intro is amy omg !!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering why Heihachi was in this but then I remembered the console exclusive crossovers
This was my Aunt's favorite game
we must never give up hope
Badass.
Fuck that's epic.
I saw the guy from Tekken (Heihashi if I am not mistaken) and I was confused cause in my game appeared Link. Then I remembered there were different guest characters depending on the console or something like that 😅
