      @@Mubibum The guy self-reported that he missed a single piece, thereby disqualifying himself from the award. Had he lied and not reported the missing piece, he would have received the award, but unjustly. His own personal integrity prevented him from cheating.

    There are a lot of people out there that simply wouldn’t have mentioned the missing piece and accepted the certificate anyways, there’s no question that this guy is very humble and honest and I think the decision to tell the truth is more honorable than the certificate itself. Clearly he’s getting a lot of praise and respect for having done so.

    Its interesting that the build is 7,541 pieces and he couldn't match that 1 piece. Props for the attempt. A challenge like this is so much organization dexterity and mental fortitude. To confess a mistake like this deserves praise. Really easy to claim the title. This is within margin of error. The machine that sorts these sets with these huge piece counts would qc check. A true class act.

      @@parabalani I'd dare to say most people would just ignore the one extra tiny 1 x 3 slope piece in a 7,541 peice Lego set.
      Remember, the guy went out of his way to read through the instructions and find out where the piece was supposed to go. Most people would have assumed it was a spare part and ignored it. What makes his honesty "special" as you put it is his willingness to go back and painstakingly check for something that will invalidate his record.

    I have this set. Took me several weeks to finish it. Intentionally slowed myself down building it as I enjoy the build. Was sad when I got to the last bag as I know I won’t be enjoying building it again so I stopped for 2 weeks before continuing on to the last steps. Best. LEGO. Set. Ever.

      Was it more fun than the ISD?? I found the ISD build no fun at all: very tedious, huge/flimsy grey panels that didn't fit very well... the entire build felt unstable to me too. I was excited because I like SW but afterwards I was actually disappointed because I didn't really enjoy building it... bizarre.

      True...but legos come with step by step instructions. Therefore puzzles are really harder as it's all up to you. Sometimes its luck finding back to back pieces quickly

    Even though there are faster records out there, however, this is the true world record in my opinion. I mean, it's remarkable he did this build 16 hours straight STANDING with limited breaks.
    The colosseum build I remembered he also did it STANDING up and only took 9 minutes of break.
    For this I feel it's only fair to award the title to those who did it in the exact same condition this guy did, standing up throughout to build this thing in one sitting.

    Amazing! I have been a LEGO builder since I was 5. I’m 11 now, and even I couldn’t build the Millennium Falcon. It was unlucky that you missed that piece. You deserve the World Record! Maybe some time soon you can try again, and I bet you’ll do even better!

    Ok, the moral here is that everything matters, like a single piece of lego, can get disqualified. So you have to take everything seriously and focus on it, so that is perfect. And the most important thing is rules are rules and these very serious rules can destroy your dreams of achieving something. PEACE OUT :)

    I'm curious, the timer doesn't start until after he has opened all of the bags and sorted the parts into various trays. Isn't sorting part of the assembly process? Couldn't you theoretically knoll all of the pieces first based on the pages they appear in the instruction book, to speed assembly (as long as you don't actually snap any together)? I would have thought that for the record the timer should start as soon as you open the box; no sorting or arranging of pieces.

    What I feel is that he passionately loves his profession. Rather than focusing on the world record and the certificate he was actually trying to do his work with perfection. He was just being honest with himself and he knows that this trait is what made him get the world record. I am pretty sure that many other records are waiting for him in future.

    Lego really needs to include a list of pieces separate from the regular piece count list that tells you what pieces should be left over

      There's usually no surprise when it comes to spare parts if you go bag after bag. They're always the same and 1 unit of each. You could even predict them. It's a bit more complicated when you remove the bags and merge all parts cause you cannot know for sure that it was 1 single unit from each bag.
