Every review it's better than the last. The quality it's not just the best in the hobby, but these are one of the best videoreviews of any medium. Also congrats on the sponsorship. Amazing work :)
Holy crap! I was listening to Neko Case's "Wish I Was the Moon" when I clicked on this video.... For real! it was already playing in the background when your singing started! I was so confused at first. Thanks for an enjoyably dissonant moment. #WhatAreTheOdds -- Oh yeah, and your content is as spectacular as always. You rock!
Sprawlopolis is one of my wife and I's favorite co-ops! Glad to see it getting more attention. I really hope you guys will be reviewing Palm Island; probably our favorite micro-game.
Both are absolutely amazing games. They were what really got me into solo gaming. Those two amazingly quick to set up and play, and are done before you know it. Both should be almost mandatory in everyone's collection. Also the expansions to this game are really well done, and simple as well. I'd also to say to everyone who sees this, Button Shy is going to be doing a Kickstarter for a stand alone expansion for Sprawlopolis at the end of the month, called Agropolis that instead of cities, you build farms. It can be played by itself or mixed in with Sprawlopolis. So if this looks interesting, keep a look out for the Kickstarter!
Sprawlopolis is actually in my Top 10 board games of all time, which is absurd! Something so small shouldn't be able to do that, reality is clearly crumbling.
Abigail Palmer ... top 10 of all time? Impressive. It IS my #1 favorite solo game AND my fav micro game though. I have all 4 expansions but have never worked them in because the base game is sooooo good.
As a huge fan of small box games, I am really looking forward to the rest of this series! I'm not very good at picking favourites but Sprawlopolis is probably not just my favourite small solo game but my favourite game full stop. There is so much game packed into those 18 cards. There are also some expansions, four I think now, I literally received the latest one, Interstate, today with my ButtonShy board game of the month package. I currently have 15 ButtonShy wallet games plus expansions, over a year's worth of their postcard games from the club and other bits and bobs all stored in a Chuck Taylor sized shoebox, that's what I call compact!
Just ordered a bunch from buttonshy including this the other day. Super excited for some good, co-op, city building (as well as flower giving and... wagoneering?).
Great video. I ordered sprawlopolis and I can't wait for it to ship! A minor protest though: the music playing in the background during the review is distracting, I vote for quiet. (Does not apply to Elaine's songs, which are wonderful!)
What a coincidence, I just picked this one up this weekend. Good amount of game in a tiny package. One rules thing though, when I started playing, I specifically looked to see about this, and my instructions do not prohibit placing a card entirely over another card. I think that's ok.
totally agree about Sprawlopolis. Also love the words of wisdom from Neko Case. To E&E--the worse things get, the more we value your wit and originality
Button Shy really does have some winners in their line up, but Sprawlopolis is still King. Small box and pocket games are really can pack a satisfying punch so I'm glad you're making vids on them.
One other city builder in which you can build over (and even have to destroy some mid-game) tiles is Warsaw: City of Ruins. I recently bought it and it’s really nice and thinky.
I've got a feeling you would love the game Warsaw City of Ruins. Wonderful tile laying game where you also destroy neighborhoods and build over old buildings. One of my very favorite games, criminally underrated
My fav pocket game and probably the best to entertain nongamers is Love Letter: Batman Edition. Just 16 cards + booklet and player aids and tokens and comes in a small fabric pouch. The theme is much more appealing than the original Love Letter, yet it retains the same rules, without the fiddly additions in the Hobbit and Lovecraft editions. I hope you guys will give this a shoutout!
Was hoping for Efka doing an American accent. I'll just double down on my hope for next week. Game looks wonderful though! As I go further into the hobby, I've started to pay more attention to games that have a small table space footprint. Can't get much small than a pocket!
18choose3 is 816, so that's nearly two years and three months worth of once a day unique scoring methods that you could play. Much more than the one year mentioned in this video!
But if you choose them randomly, you're going to get a double-up a lot quicker than that. Maybe if I remembered my Stats class better, I could even work out what the chance is of getting through a year with no repeat.
I juuuuust played Sprawlopolis yesterday morning. Now I’m watching a video from a channel I’ve never watched before... 👀 Internet quit listening to my house!
E&E, thanks for the clear effort you put into your videos. I really enjoy these and also hate the fact you make me want to buy all these games. If I only had room for more, though. Sad face.
The box is a licenced English version in Europe, the wallet version is available for pre-order direct from Button Shy (due to ship in October according to their website).
Excellent review as always! How is the remastered version of sidereal confluence? I am still waiting my preorder... I see you have kept scythe along with rise of fenris. Did you end up liking it?
Great video, and looking forward to the rest in the series. I bought Sprawlopolis just as the pandemic started, but it's in a box. Do you know if Button Shy games are going to re-release others of their wallet games in wallets in the UK? I'm mainly thinking of Tussie Mussie after hearing you guys talking about it in your podcast.
Tussie Mussie is in stock at Chaos Cards (I think they're the only UK stockists of wallet versions of Button Shy games) or you can buy direct from Button Shy - they have a great deal on international shipping if you spend $50 or more.
Button Shy is about to launch Agropolis on Kickstarter - a farmland sequel to Sprawlopolis that can also be combined with Sprawlopolis to make a 36 card monster game!!! Usually on their KS, you can order other games of their back catalog.
@@tanyaskevington-carter9200 Thanks for this. I had seen they had it, but for some reason I thought it was the boxed version. Ordered and now received :-)
@@NoPunIncluded Were there other mugs in the video? Lol. I meant the "yellow player" mug. The only hit on Google has travel mugs, are they not available anymore?

We all need a pair of sunflower overalls.
paired with loads of bird-shirt!
I love Run&Fly dungarees, but hadn't seen sunflowers. Those are great 😍

I legit laughed when the line "we could just buy fewer games"

Ha! That's amazing. What a delightful bit of happenstance.

these two are probably my favorite solo micro-games. Fantastic puzzle games!
Excited about the new series - thanks for covering smaller games!
Can't wait for the rest of this series, partially because "pocket" is one of my favorite words to hear in an English accent. Pocket, pocket, pocket.
Sprawlopolis is actually in my Top 10 board games of all time, which is absurd! Something so small shouldn't be able to do that, reality is clearly crumbling.

That Sidereal Confluence Remaster box is making me sooo jelous
I didn't know it was released! Waiting for my preorder :)
Also noticed that. Cue the "Leo Pointing at the TV" meme
Yay, Elaine! Videos are better with you in them, Elaine. Also, Sprawlopolis sounds awesome. Also also, Skillshare is also awesome. Sign up, people!
Just ordered a bunch from buttonshy including this the other day. Super excited for some good, co-op, city building (as well as flower giving and... wagoneering?).
Interesting idea about the Office intro. Crazy to hear that Slough has changed that much in 15 years.
hopefully no content creators were injured in that board game avalanche XD Great vid, guys!
I'll confess, I had a bump on my head for a couple of days afterwards. It was the tiny ones that hurt the most.
@@NoPunIncluded Makes sense, they always have the most to prove...^^

Loved the song! Weirdly touching :) Your voice sounds great!
Only after quite some time into the opening song I realized it's Elaine's voice. Not just the "words" are hers. :)
Super.

Best part of this video is the surprise appearance of Paula Deming.
Thanks. I guess.
This is one of my favorite solo games. It is truly fantastic, and super variable.

POINTS for the Neko Case parody!
The existential crisis of not enough room for games 😂

I love you.
Why is Iwari and Fort in your rubbish pile at 0:20?
Honestly. It's a good game, but also pretty forgettable. Saying it's better than Le Havre and suburbia is quite the hot take.
