just bought this car at auction (just over 60k miles on it ) and when i got home i noticed some steam, Checked the engine to find this pipe had perished, found your video straight away i know what to do to to fix it. thank you so much disaster obverted
Good to see some actual sensible reporting on the Ecoboost and mods rather than the usual ill informed Pub Bore you hear on the internet going on about how terrible this engine is. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the video!
Thank you, I have been putting some miles on this car, 2 long road trips in Europe including long stints on the autobahns cruising for miles at way over 100mph with 4 of us and luggage. Very surprised how capable it is and great mpg too.
I have a 64 plate 1.0 88000 on the clock. The degas pipe you fitted is already fitted on my car but I have a coolant leak! Can’t find it anywhere, coolant tank is fine, no leaking from the heater matrix in the driver footwell etc. I have to top up my coolant every 4 days!!
That’s not good. Sometimes the coolant tank cracks underneath, is there any signs of water around the base, but really you need to be careful that its not your head gasket. Do you get white smoke (steam) from your exhaust? If you can't find the leak I would get it checked out.
@@MotoringEvents thanks for the reply Yeah I’ve checked under the coolant tank and it’s bone dry. Yeah I hope coolant is not leaking in the head gasket! No white smoke yet, guessing I’ll have to get it pressure tested.
Hi sounds like one of the sensors isn’t connected properly, I assume water and oil levels are ok. Otherwise get a obd scanner to check what’s wrong. Also if the engine light is flashing that could be serious.
As far as I am aware, they are the same. From their point of view the kits are for the later models so they would say that. I assume you have the same items and locations as mine on the video?
Hi, I may have missed it but you may not have explained where all the original coolant had gone prior to fitting the new pipes. Had one of them already perished? 🤔
I tried a few methods of swapping the pipes so I lost about a third of the coolant plus I siphoned some out of the tank. I think if you use the final method I put in the video you should lose much at all.
So is the pipe that's fitted at the start of the video the original pipe, or one that ford have already upgraded before you bought the car. I have noted the part numbers for the two new pipes you have fitted. What facelift are these pipes from. And many thanks for your very useful video 👍
Hi, I was wondering what the grey clip that is initially connected to the tank on the top right (rubber hose) is called and if you knew where I could potentially find it. Thanks!
Hi, sorry I don’t, a dealer could help. Also you could just use a jubilee clip just make sure it’s on tight and there are no leaks. Also the ford owners forums we’ll be able to help.
Hello mate, I have the same car except its 2 years older (the 2012 ecoboost 1.0L). I am also looking to replace these pipes but I have a question: On the ebay links for the parts that you provided, one of them says it isn't compatible for this model. Is that just because it was intended for the new models? The pipes should still fit right?
I’ve noticed your focus makes that rattling noise. I’ve also got the 1.0 2013 model and mine makes the same rattling/knocking noise from the engine bay. Is that normal? Was there an issue with yours… did you sort it out in the end.
Hi, it was covered by the recall but still has the junction whereas the ones in the video are from later cars and don't have the junction at all. The new pipes are completely different and robust.
@@MotoringEvents Thanks for replying. Do you know if I take my car to Ford with this degas problem, Will ford replace the old design degas pipe setup for the new facelift degas pipe set as show in your video or will they only replace the effective pipe/pipes for the exact same problem pipe/pipes, regards
I have the mk 3.5 facelifted version and I am experiencing a los of coolant especially after a long drive the car has the upgraded pipes, no excess smoke or anything to indicate a blown head gasket. Any advice? Or someone who had the same problem? It only happens after a long trip and does not happen on shorter trips.
The new hoses are from the facelift mk3 which in think started 2014/2015 so yours could be either, the front end looks quite different, if you are unsure Google image of the front. Mine just died. I’m going to do a video on it but watch out for the timing belt and oil pump belt which are inside the engine and cause big problems after 80-90000 miles. It’s quite expensive to do to.

Wow, that was lucky. Thanks for watching.

You did this all with recording it all by yourself, you are really great.
Thanks, much appreciated.
Just replaced mine, bottom pipe was a nightmare. Thanks for the video.
Glad you got it sorted
Watching this as my pipe has just burst but lucky I was not far from home so no harm done just need to replace it thanks for the tips and video 😊
Glad you caught it early 👍
Hose and pipe ordered in Germany, thanks for the instructional video 👍
I am from also germany . How did you ordered. Can you share the link?

Thanks so much. Did exactly what you did, worked perfectly! How do I get rid of the check motor light now?

My car code come (P2600)
Hi, could you tell me the part numbers for the 2 new hoses please, great video, cheers 👍
Hi Sean thanks for watching. The part numbers are in the description along with links to purchase online.
Great video
Thanks for watching 👍

I believe it is the pipe that Ford upgrade for the recall.
Be careful of those metal bend coolant pipes coming out the turbo. They can actually rust pretty bad
Great video,thanks.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi I am about to pay the balance on a bmax 1.0 ecoboost 64 plate registrated January 2015
I have the Focus saloon version and I love it. Really economical especially on a motorway run I’m getting 50mpg. 👍

Hi, hadn’t noticed. I’ll check it out though.
Can you tell me if the braided thin pipe coming of the junction is also covered by the 2015 recall
Hi, it was covered by the recall but still has the junction whereas the ones in the video are from later cars and don't have the junction at all. The new pipes are completely different and robust.

I have broken tip of one of the clip can you send me the clip (if you don’t have any use with it ?
Sorry, it's long gone, you could always use a jubilee clip or go to the ford dealer.

It’s quite common that the coolant tank cracks underneath, are there signs of coolant around the tank.
2015 models dont have this issue?

Ford won't cover the cost of replacing the updated pipes, but they will however pay for an entire new engine instead when it blows. Baffling...
Really annoying for something so easy to replace.
