I bought this on 7" vinyl when it came out. It spent 10 weeks on the UK chart and four of those weeks in the top 10. The sentiments are so tender and her vocals are so fragile and vulnerable. And Wesley Magoogan's playing is just sublime. 💖
Thanks for covering this, its such a beautiful saxophone solo. I was fortunate to see Hazel perform this live a few years ago, but with a different saxophonist (Clare Hirst) so I didn't know what to expect for the solo. There was a pregnant pause just before the saxophone piece was due so I almost expected the song was ending, but then it lit up with a brilliant rendition of the solo. Honestly, there were people in tears around me, which broke me too ! Such a powerful shared experience, which your channel continues, by breathing more life into these songs !
Great reaction. One of three great song about yearning love by female vocalists from 1978/79/80 This sits alongside Because The Night by Patti Smith and Stay With Me Till Dawn by Judy Tzuke as great ballads from my teens.
Another UK film featuring the seedier side of the music business (among other things) is Jubilee, which came out 3 years before Breaking Glass, and featured Adam Ant and Toyah.
I've never been that keen on the film "Breaking Glass", it's okay but nothing too special The album though is really good. I still listen to it every year or so. She's a very underrated singer even outside that album. "Big Brother" and "D-Days" are both great songs from other albums and well worth a listen.
It's a superb album, unfairly overlooked. I bought it in 1990 to replace the two 7" hit singles, and ended up playing the whole album to death for months.
Great choice. I usually default to thinking that the best song from my hometown is The Specials' Ghost Town. But no, I think this just about beats it. This live version is worth a look: ua-cam.com/video/twqdWWY5iEc/v-deo.html.
The best sax solo in the history of music, and hazel sings beautifully, I live in coventry where she is from, brilliant review Nick glad you get it. the specials are from coventry too. met her in birmingham in the early 80s. great times. cheers ua-cam.com/video/Sn3rdWwW9D0/v-deo.html enjoy this mate,, it touches your soul

Such a shame Wesley cut his fingers off, shame❤
Best love song ever, and that Sax ❤!!
“Just woke up from a nap and I’m in the mood”. Nick, you rascal! Really enjoyed this song, also.

she was soft punk, great singer with her own style, great song with a great sax solo which you dont hear anymore.
It's the drums leading into the sax solo I love.
Great reaction👍always gets me from an evocative emotional perspective . Great saxophone, too
I remember this song being played at a party i was at in my teens, blew my mind then and still does.

powerful , a great song is a great song, no matter what the genre is
Eighth Day from the same film is a belting song too
Brings back memories of my misspent youth. Love love love the sax in this
Great soundtrack! I had the vinyl when it came out.
I love Baker Street. The difference with his song is the sax is not just a solo, It is intertwined with the lyrics.
Great standalone track from a forgotten artist. Nice ❤
In the words of Vinny Jones " It's been emotional 🎼🎵🎵🎶🎶❤️

Sadly the Sax player Wesley Mcgoogan lost some of his fingers in a chainsaw accident - so can now no longer play. He was briefly in The Beat too.
Well, damn!
Great song this!
Both is certainly the correct answer
Great record
