I'm crying just watching this. Everyone who grew up with nickelodeon were the luckiest people on the planet. People who didn't seriously missed out. This song is exactly how I tell people not to judge me on what I loved so much. It has a place in my heart that will never be taken away. R.I.P. Nick Studios, You will be very missed by all.
I miss seeing Nick at USFL. I went this summer, and I had to realize that it wasn't even there. I remember when I was a young girl, and my dad took me to a live show. I got to taste the green slime, and everything else was great. Dang, I really do miss the old nickelodeon life back then. Nowadays, everything is warped with a bunch of dumb, new teenage crap. I know things change, but walking into Universal Studios without Nick being there sure has lost a lot of color in my sight. Anyone agree?RIP
In a sad voice... Nickelodeon is dead. But lets all try to remember all the good time they gave us. And hope to one day they would bring back all the old shows in reruns. The games shows, tv shows, Nicktoons (execpt spongbob and rocket power), and even the short bumpers they had in the late 80's and early to mid 90's
Me too, Me too, I'm crying right now. Its like my childhood is just passing by so quickly, and nobody truly realizes how precious this wonderful place was
Great video. I wanted to go there so badly back in 2005 and 2006, but then I found out it closed. If I had thought about it, I would of gone there and broken in to the studio. I'm DERFINITELY without a DOUBT going to when the time capsule is opened. If you think about it, they put that stuff in the time capsule to remember Nick of the 90s, and now it's all just crap. RIP Nickelodeon Studios
When I was a kid, I always wanted to go to the Nickelodeon Studios, but money has always been tight in my family and we were never able to go to Florida to see it. I remember saying that I was going to become a successful person with money so I'd be able to take a trip to the Nickelodeon Studios in Florida. I just realized...that can never happen now. :'( Well, I plan to be there when they open that time capsule. :)
As a past Nickelodeon watcher, I can tell that whoever closed Nickelodeon Studios is gonna regret it because think about it this way, I think that Nickelodeon Studios was the premier attraction for Nick fans, so for those of you who are Nickelodeon fans who are feeling the agony of this closing, I'm with you because I feel like crying.
The purpose for building the complex in Orlando was to create a "Hollywood" on the east coast. Once it became clear that celebs were not going to move to Orlando, Nickelodeon shifted production (for the most part) back out to California. Today, Mike O'Malley, Moira Quirk, Jason Harris, Kirk Fogg and others, live in southern California. That is where the studios and jobs are to be found in the TV industry.
Give Nickelodeon credit for trying. They built a facility that produced shows that an entire generation grew up watching. But the Studios simply could not be sustained. Nickelodeon held out as long as it could, but in the end, it became clear that it was time to close up. While Nickelodeon Studios no longer exists, the buildings do (credit Universal for holding on to them instead of knocking them down). The tenants have changed, but the buildings still serve as an entertainment venue.
Nickelodeon Studios Orlando had a great past. As was noted many shows that impacted the lives of 90's kids came from that facility. The problem is the complex had no future as a Nickelodeon building. The network's viewers stopped watching game shows in favor of cartoons and scripted shows.....the 2 types of programs that could not be produced in Orlando for reasons I mentioned in an earlier comment. Time moved on, but it left Nickelodeon Studios behind.
Keep in mind that Nickelodeon had been gone for about a year before Blue Man Group moved in. The decision to leave Orlando was Nickelodeon's. Blue Man Group really had nothing to do with it. Because of BMG and the other groups that use the complex, the buildings are still standing and being actively used today. Wikipedia's article on Nickelodeon Studios is good (except that they will not allow posts mentioning the fact that the time capsule was moved to the Nick Hotel).
I agree. Nickelodeon has lost it's touch now...the producers of today have destroyed it. I'll never get to see my favorite shows of the past ever again.

The time capsule was moved to the Nickelodeon Suites (Nick Hotel) in Orlando. People who have been to the hotel say that it located just outside the main entrance to the building. There are rumblings that Nickelodeon is thinking about moving the time capsule to one of their facilities in California.
i still remember the 3 main things i wanted to see at nickelodeon studios were the slime geyser(my mom wanted me to take a picture while it was spitting out slime)the time capsule(i almost freaked out when i saw it cause i had been dieing to see it)and the "NICKELODEON"sign(as soon as i saw it i screamed,"NICKELODEON!!!" and i also wanted to see all the stuff i saw on tv in person and i did and im glad i was able to
That is the Nickelodeon time capsule. It was located just outside the entrance to Nickelodeon Studios. When Nickelodeon walked away from Universal Studios, they took the capsule to the nearby Nickelodeon Family Suites (Nick Hotel) and buried it just outside the main entrance. To the best of my knowledge, the capsule is still there, but there are reports that Nickelodeon is considering moving it again, possibly to one of the Nickelodeon owned facilities in California.
The Nickelodeon Hotel is a Holiday Inn facility. I read somewhere that Nickelodeon inked some sort of deal with another hotel chain (possibly Hilton Hotels). If the time capsule does get moved, it may be an indication that the Nick Hotel is going to become either just a regular Holiday Inn or align itself with another entertainment company.
I actually liked this song alot better. I think the title goes so well with how I feel about taking away Nick Studios. It's Like "How dare you take our childhoods away from us that we hold so dearly, don't you dare think nobody will complain and just walk away, because we had some of the best shows ever recorded in that little studio." Besides, the simple minds song, while very very good, has practically been overused to death so it's nice to hear something most people haven't heard before.
Blue Man Group had nothing to do with the closing of Nickelodeon Studios. If anyone is to be "blamed" then blame "90's Kids" for losing interest in game shows. Also blame actors for wanting to stay in Los Angeles and not make the move to Orlando. No actors = no regular shows. No regular shows = no Nickelodeon Studios.

I think it was in front of the building. When Nickelodeon left Universal, they dug up the time capsule over to the Nickelodeon Hotel and buried it right outside the main entrance. As far as I know, the time capsule is still at the hotel.

If Nickelodeon were to try for another Nickelodeon Studios, it probably wouldn't be in Orlando, but in southern California. Nick built the Orlando facility to try to create a "Hollywood" on the east coast. One of the problems they ran into was that celebs refused to relocate from California to Florida. This made it very difficult to produce shows in Orlando. But if the new GUTS fails to catch on with Nick's viewers, any talk of a new studio complex will become moot.
18 months after Nickelodeon closed Nickelodeon Studios, Universal began to find new organizations to use the buildings. Today the 3 main tenants are: 1) Blue Man Group's Orlando FL cast 2) Sun Sports 3) FSN TNA Wrestling uses Stage #21 (GUTS and Legends of the Hidden Temple were taped there).
The buildings are not being torn down. They are being used by other organizations. Had Sun Sports, Blue Man Group and FSN not moved in almost a year after Nickelodeon left, the buildings could have easily been demolished. But they are still there. They may look different, but they are still the same 3 buildings.
Only part of the complex became the Sharp Aquos Theatre. Other parts are used for storage, a reception area and operation centers for Sun Sports & FSN.
Nickelodeon closed the studios for various reasons. Some are: 1) People lost interest in the programs recorded there. The number of visitors to the complex dropped way down. 2) Celebrities refused to move from southern California to Orlando, so Nickelodeon could not make any new shows there. 18 months after Nickelodeon left, Universal announced that Blue Man Group was going to use part of the complex for their shows. Other organizations use other parts of the buildings.
It's hard to say. There would have to be a sustained interest in Live Action shows before Nickelodeon would even consider creating a new Nickelodeon Studios. One of the problems that made Nick leave Orlando was that celebrities (needed to star in shows) did not want to move from California to Florida. Locating the studios in southern California would eliminate that problem. The new GUTS is now in production in Orlando, so let's see what happens.
Nickelodeon Studios had been closed for 18 months before Universal decided that BMG would be moving into part of the complex. Blue Man Group had nothing to do with the closing of Nickelodeon Studios, but people continue to blame them.
The TUBE that the time capsule sits in was opened, the sealed time capusle was lifted out, transported to the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, dropped into another tube outside the main entrance & that tube's lid was shut & sealed.
Call me naive but I just found out that Nick Studios was replaced by the Blue Man Group yesterday. I knew the studios were no longer used but I guess the 90s child in me just thought the studios would be there forever which really makes no sense. i wish I had gotten to visit the studios in its glory days. My family didn't go to universal until late 2005.
The problem with trying to keep Nickelodeon Studios open is that nobody was visiting the facility even on the days when Universal Studios was packed. There was no way to justify spending money on a facility that was sitting there unused and not attracting any visitors. It took the closing of the facility and the loss of Nick GaS to rekindle interest in Nickelodeon Studios.
Nah thats a time capsule thats stocked with classic nick commercials, shows, and popular toys and stuff from the nineties. Theyre opening it on April 30th 2042.
@1ShineStar1 really???!! im from argentina, im 19 years old, and i grown up with nickelodeon and being a child my dream was going to nickelodeon studios but money wasn´t able. Now im very sad because i lost my childhood and i have to watch rocko, rugrats, arnold, rocket power at 2am :(
Game shows did (and do) have their place in Nickelodeon's lineup. I don't think we will see multiple game shows airing concurrently like in the 90's. If there wasn't a demand for game shows, Nickelodeon Studios would never have been built. The problem is that at the time Nickelodeon Studios was being developed, nobody foresaw that interest in game shows would die after 2000 or that actors would say "no thanks" when asked to relocate to Orlando to work at the facility.
If Nickelodeon had left the time capsule behind @ Universal Studios, it would have been considered to be abandoned property. Universal could then dig it up and throw it away....at any time....for any reason. The time capsule needs to stay in the possession of Nickelodeon and that means moving it when the company vacates a property.
The reasons Nickelodeon closed the Studios have been posted at other Nickelodeon Studios/GaS related videos. It is worth repeating that Blue Man Group is only 1 several organizations that now call the former Nickelodeon Studios "home". It is also worth repeating that, contrary to popular belief, Blue Man Group had nothing to do with Nickelodeon leaving Orlando. Nickelodeon had been gone for almost 18 months before the announcement that B.M.G. would be moving in.
Moving the time capsule to the Nick Suites Resort was NOT a mistake. Had Nickelodeon left it behind after the network had closed Nickelodeon Studios and exited Universal Studios, the time capsule would have been considered abandoned property and Universal could have dug it up and thrown it away during the renovations to the facility. The time capsule needs to stay in the possession of Nickelodeon...thus the move from Universal to the hotel.
3:30 That is sad. Everything use to be fun and this place use to be filled with real nickelodeon fans. Where are they now?...They've grown up and moved on. =::::(
Nope, there are other groups that now use the Nickelodeon Studios buildings. If it wasn't for them, the buildings could have been demolished, but they are still standing tall!
@xwhend0vescryX Only part of the complex was remodeled into a theater for Blue Man Group. Other sections are now home to FSN, Sun Sports, used for storage and other functions.
Yup. Nickelodeon is, once again, renting Stage #21 to shoot the updated version of GUTS. It will air during Nick at Nite. Nickelodeon never owned Stage #21 even when they shot "Legends of the Hidden Temple" and the original "GUTS" there. The space was always rented.
very good video, I loved that place and i went there with my cuz when i was young and i had the time of my life. now nick studios is gone and we cant do anything about it... that is ware all of the good shows came from like rocks modern life and all of those game shows i would always watch those. now they have the new really stupid nick shows like icarly, neds declassified, and alot more stupid shows... this is absured that they closed it but the fact is, is that it is done and closed. RIP
Nickelodeon Studios closed because the network's viewers lost interest in game shows and wanted more cartoons and scripted comedies. Popular actors needed to star in these shows refused to move to Orlando. With no game shows in the works, no scripted shows being shot in Orlando and very few people stopping by to take the tour, Nickelodeon Studios sat there unused. Nickelodeon held on as long as it could, but, by 2005, it became clear that the time had come to close the facility.
People lost interest in the shows that were produced at Nickelodeon Studios. Without being able to convince celebrities to move from Los Angeles to Orlando, Nickelodeon could not create new shows (scripted and otherwise) for the Studios. Nickelodeon soon found itself with a top notch studio complex, but nothing to do inside other than the game lab, give tours to a dwindling number of visitors and sell merchandise in the store.
D: Oh man i had a chance of going in there when i was 11 (2001), and then me and my friends were convinced to do a survey for $5 instead X_x I regret that now... Ugh, what a shame...
Nickelodeon is a kid's network. Their target audience is largely tweens & younger. The network broadcasts shows that appeal to that demographic. Many of the comments expressing displeasure in Nick are posted by people who grew up during the 1990's (aka 90's Kids). Nickelodeon and Disney Channel are NOT geared towards people in that age bracket. Today's kids have different tastes than 90's Kids. Nick and Disney are giving these core viewers what they want to see.
damn you blue man group you ruined my cousin's dream to go to nickelodeon studios.and my dream to go back there one day.well i just thank god that i was able to see it in real life.
Blue Man Group is not responsible for what happened to Nickelodeon Studios. Nickelodeon had been gone for 18 months before Blue Man Group entered into the picture. If it wasn't for BMG and the other organizations that use the buildings today, Universal could have ripped the complex down and used the land for other purposes.
Nickeldon said that there werent enough people coming over to the studio and thats why they shut it down. Are they supposed to be surprized since there werent any game shows and events to bring people over there.
I'm crying just watching this. Everyone who grew up with nickelodeon were the luckiest people on the planet. People who didn't seriously missed out.

This really sucks because I've only been their once in Orlando and I wanted to go to it again.
Today the 3 main tenants are:
1) Blue Man Group's Orlando FL cast
2) Sun Sports
3) FSN
TNA Wrestling uses Stage #21 (GUTS and Legends of the Hidden Temple were taped there).
The buildings are not being torn down. They are being used by other organizations.
Had Sun Sports, Blue Man Group and FSN not moved in almost a year after Nickelodeon left, the buildings could have easily been demolished.
But they are still there. They may look different, but they are still the same 3 buildings.
Yeah...I always wanted to go too. After they stopped doing tours there though it was kinda like the beginning of the end.
if i can turn back da hands of time nd be a kid again just for one day i will!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only part of the complex became the Sharp Aquos Theatre. Other parts are used for storage, a reception area and operation centers for Sun Sports & FSN.
Nickelodeon closed the studios for various reasons. Some are:
1) People lost interest in the programs recorded there.
Blue Man Group had nothing to do with the closing of Nickelodeon Studios, but people continue to blame them.
i miss it! i'm only 18 and i miss it lol!
They moved the time capsule too. It's out in LA with the new studio. The reopening date still stands though.
All That was like a kid's Mad TV. RIP :(
The TUBE that the time capsule sits in was opened, the sealed time capusle was lifted out, transported to the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, dropped into another tube outside the main entrance & that tube's lid was shut & sealed.
i miss back in da day
i love this, thank you (:
@eddypikachu According to the wikipedia page for Nickelodeon Studios, it's buried at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando now.
it was in Orlando Florida For 15 Years.
Yeah! RIP Nickelodeon Studios
4:13, i saw that time capsule at the nick hotel in september. on april 30th 2042, i plan to be there.

It looks like WMG has been cracking down lately and I've come across several videos with disabled audio.

very good video, I loved that place and i went there with my cuz when i was young and i had the time of my life. now nick studios is gone and we cant do anything about it... that is ware all of the good shows came from like rocks modern life and all of those game shows i would always watch those. now they have the new really stupid nick shows like icarly, neds declassified, and alot more stupid shows... this is absured that they closed it but the fact is, is that it is done and closed.
@sailorstar1717 really?! what was your talent on figure it out? that's so awesome! i was 5 when that show ended but i still love it! :)
Thank you =] and you're welcome i wish i still had don't you forget about me as the song it really made this video
I hate the fact that the time capsule was moved. when they moved it, they basically voided the entire thing. GOD DAMN YOU WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!!!
So the Nickelodeon time capsule is no longer at the Nick Hotel in Orlando?
And now... They're making a fucking FRED SHOW!?!?! I don't wanna live on this planet anymore... T_T
R.I.P. Nickelodeon
1990-2004
People lost interest in the shows that were produced at Nickelodeon Studios.
Without being able to convince celebrities to move from Los Angeles to Orlando, Nickelodeon could not create new shows (scripted and otherwise) for the Studios.
Nickelodeon soon found itself with a top notch studio complex, but nothing to do inside
other than the game lab, give tours to a dwindling number of visitors and sell merchandise in the store.
D: Oh man i had a chance of going in there when i was 11 (2001), and then me and my friends were convinced to do a survey for $5 instead X_x I regret that now...
Ugh, what a shame...
They are cool.
Nick and Disney are giving these core viewers what they want to see.
damn you blue man group you ruined my cousin's dream to go to nickelodeon studios.and my dream to go back there one day.well i just thank god that i was able to see it in real life.
is the time capsule still there
I did'nt know nick studios changed. What did it change too?
Hey Hypnoglance, are you talking about the guy in the "All That" cast picture?
@rextony22 Nickelodeon Studios closed down in 2005 due to a lack of visitors and hurricane damage.
