    In this video I am showing examples of songs that are played in opposite keys: major songs performed in minor, and vice versa. Also I am explaining how this works on the basis of the music theory needed to do it yourselves. Because this touches so many fields of expertise, it's a very good exercise to train yourself with!

    For the ultimate comparison I made two Guitar Looping videos which are basically the same but for one *MAJOR* difference... One is in Major (Lightness), and one in Minor (called Darkness) Check them out!

    Note that in the 'Here comes the sun'-example a different minor scale was used from the one he showed. In his explanation there was a flat 7th; in this particular example he used a normal 7th. That means that from 6th to 7th there is a rather large gap between the tones. This feels even uneasier and is therefore very effective. The scale is called harmonic minor.

    • @PaulDavids
      @PaulDavids  6 років тому

      Yep, used the same for Wonderful Tonight. Often the V chord in minor really wants to be major making the scale harmonic minor.

    I feel like I prefer one over the other depending on the melody played, really it depends on the melody for me. I think that could actually be a song writing technique, writing it in major, using techniques as if it were to be a major sounding song, then making it all minor. Because some of the songs here played in minor sound beautiful, sometimes better in my opinion (not always but some are certainly intriguing).
