    Right I'm binge watching all these videos 😅, well done on some proper content, shows all good practices and why you're doing it. That's the main reason I'm watching as a keen home owner/diy/getting into abit of plumbing on the side

    I wish they allowed full bore lever valves to be used for mains water isolation

      It was under the old kitchen unit, I would surprise me if it hasn’t ever been touched

    I was thinking as you commented about a freezing kit, And with the situation you had and the problematic shutoff valve I think the Meter distance from the valve would have been ample to freeze and remove completely a potential issue with said valve in future.

      Like I said it would of probably be okay just a confidence thing

    Once went to a flooded house caused by a flexi bursting after the home owner left for work in the morning and came back to a house full of water, ruining all downstairs carpets and even getting in the the burners on the gas cooker. What a mess

    I’m not really bothered with what people think on how I do my bath first fix/second fix, but I personally poke two coppers out, on all endfeed fittings, (all clipped) horizontally out and then I personally use two iso flexis facing towards the panel on either two HEP20 Or Tectite or something with a nice spin on it. So many times I’ve been to existing baths hard piped and you spend the whole job taking off the feeds just to change a bath tap

    • @SmartPipePlumbing
      @SmartPipePlumbing  10 місяців тому

      Mate you do what works for you everyone has there own way, I was just wondering how others do it. Turns out when I in packaged the bath it’s a double ended bath so I’ve first fixed it wrong anyway 😂😂

    I like the squirt gun idea although I doubt it could pull the pressure up enough - taping around the top of the pipe might have helped. Or the little drill powered pumps?

      Possibly, I’ve don’t it loads before and it’s worked fine just that one time I filmed it didn’t typical 😂

    I would of snatched that cold main, and fitted a new stop tap on it.

    How quickly would Yorkshire water fix the stop tap in the Street?

    • @SmartPipePlumbing
      @SmartPipePlumbing  10 місяців тому

      Depends on if it’s an emergency, it would be same day if not it will be around 3 days I think

  • @user-zu6je6xd4h
    @user-zu6je6xd4h 10 місяців тому +1

    I do hope you plan to go back to replace the stop tap once the street shut off is repaired. If you struggled to open and close it with grips then it simply cannot be left like that!

  • @SD-Plumbing-Heating

    Not telling you how to do your job, but the cold feed for the kitchen sink, should be directly off the mains, and not balanced cold. As it’s drinking water. Not easy as you don’t want to mess with the old stop tap again.

    • @SmartPipePlumbing
      @SmartPipePlumbing  10 місяців тому +1

      Never heard that ever, and they definitely didn’t teach that in college. Can I ask why? As the it’s still mains water even on the balanced cold just just reduced down to 3 bar?

    Landlord is basically putting the onus on the next tenant to purchase electric heaters? Or is he providing heaters, very strange as I think there is a responsibility to provide heating and also to remove gas is also weird as the cost of heating via electric is probably four times putting or replacing the meter in future will cost a thousand as I had a quote two years ago. Especially with the money he’s spending on renovation and plumbing. I’d be interested on his reasoning, or perhaps you’ve not fully informed the viewer of intention.

      The landlord is having electric radiators fit. Nothing to do with me but meant to be high efficiency

    Why wasn't the ballcock changed at the same time :( Too much risk to present to the customer in this case (stop cock in road not properly functional)?

    • @SmartPipePlumbing
      @SmartPipePlumbing  7 місяців тому

      Basically that the stop cook instead was knackered the one in the street was no where to be found
