Excellent video about Langping, love it! I watched leap yesterday but actually i paused the movie and watched the epic game between China and Brazil in 2016...the actual game was like a movie. Leap was not just trying to show these athletes' perseverance and sportmanship but it was attempting to find a way to externalise the change of systems in China, such as how each generation's mindset was shifted over the years and what were the changing motivations behind these amazing athletes.
Ah I can’t wait to see it! Is it available worldwide or just in China? My friend (who is the player guest for the next episode of the Volley Bubble) was an extra in the movie, a setting stunt double how cool is that!

Great content, love it! At 1:39, she actually got this name because of a commentator who was the only one broadcasting women's volleyball games. He thought Lang Ping's spiking was so damn heavy thus effective just like hammering nails on the wall. Lang Ping once said the scary and men-like nickname kept her pursuers way :-) . A pretty hilarious yet awesome story.
My comment has nothing to do with the topic of your video, but can you do a video explaining the different pro volleyball leagues around the world? The differences and how the games in each league differ? And details into why the US doesn't have a league of its own. Volleyball I feel it's one of those special sports where the women's is more entertaining to watch than the men's.

I'm more interested in SHOWING rather than TELLING, so I'm trying to give the audience a look into the trainings, apartments and lives of players around Europe, then you can form your own opinion about each league (beside just volleyball level). Jenny has just retired😢 She is such an inspiration to me. When I saw all the players bow to her together after the last match against Argentina , I can’t help crying.
Excellent video and personality and smile. I even learned a thing or two such as the consecutive World Cup record after following her for decades- including her signature 25 years ago. But the “traitor” part maybe could have been presented with a bit more info. Most Chinese I would say were supportive/proud of her coaching the U.S team. Obviously some did call her traitors, but that’s a tiny minority. You know, there are always stupid small minded people in every corner of the world

Ci Michel I’m a big fan and only amateur player.:) but I love the game and the players. Also the fact that volleyball has much more competitive parity across the continents, than say soccer and basketball. Also female/male salaries of the professional players are much closer even though it might still not be equal. It’s something all fans/players should celebrate. Would you ever consider interviewing the players from around the world? Especially their experiences playing in foreign leagues and even representing adopted countries. These would be fascinating stories
Saw the film "Leap" last week. It was released in the cinemas in my country Singapore one week later than it did in China. It has English subtitles and should already be out in the USA too. Pretty good film, emotional and touching, not everything is an accurate depiction of Lang Ping and Zhu Ting's character and personalities, but it's a film not a documentary after all. May be awhile before it's released online though.

You'll be glad to know all the volleyball scenes are done by professional players (Logan Tom played herself in the 2008 Olympics scene, members of the Japanese 2012 London Olympics squad played the 1981 World Cup scene, three Brazilian NT members played the 2016 Rio scene)
I followed women volley somewhat since high school. I graduated from the same high school with Elaine Young. Not that I knew her personally, but being as a athlete then myself; there were many professional athletes graduated from my high school that I followed. I played volleyball not competitively, but I don’t embarrass myself either as a player. Being a Chinese Immigrant myself, now American; Lang Ping is a very inspirational story. I now try to coach my daughters junior high volleyball. Volleyball stories and teaching videos are why I’m here.

Also the "Lang" in Lang Ping's name （郎） and her daughter's name （浪）are different characters with different pronunciation. Her daughter took the family name of her ex-husband, "Bai", so her daughter's name is actually "Lydia Bai Lang", Lydia being her English name and Lang being her Chinese given name.
