- How to fold an Iso-Area Flasher Cube from a 6X6 Grid. This cube has two openable compartments where you can store things, so it's a double-sided gift box! And it resembles a tato, so it's a double-sided origami tato cube! Ooooh... I just discovered something else REALLY cool about this model... Remember the Sliding Seamless Cubes? Well this model can do the same thing but since there are flaps on four sides (instead of just one side), they can hook together like legos to form a grid of boxes! And since the top and bottom both have flaps and pockets you could use these as units to construct any 3-dimensional bitmapped object!
This origami Flasher Cube was discovered by member Sonny during March 2022 Eastern Hemisphere Members Livestream. I was leading the group in trying to design a 6X6 Grid Flasher Cube and my attempt was not going so well, but Sonny went in his own direction and managed to figure out a rather simple clean way to close the top. He thought it could only be used to close the top, but I helped him to see that since it was iso-area, the same technique could be done to close the bottom of the model as well. Design credit also goes to Ritwik, who didn't even attend the Eastern Hemisphere livestream, but it was at his request that we tried design a "6X6 Grid Flasher Cube."
Special for my members I've made a tutorial for a variation I figured out that achieves the double closure from a 4X4 Grid Flasher, which results in a very aesthetic larger cube with no loose flaps sticking out. To join as a member here is the link: / @jeremyshaferorigami .
Sonny's isoarea flasher cube closure technique also works on an 8X8 isoarea flasher or any simple iso-area flasher for that matter, and you can experiment with that! Have fun folding 折纸!

It's so fascinating how you can turn a single piece of paper into that! Very rare model!
Mr. Schafer, i got your book ‘origami to astonish and amuse’ as a child in middle school and it truly sparked my love for origami. I remember countless hours trying to figure out the secrets to the flasher, nailclippers, and swiss army knife, as well as the joy i discovered in the moments the paper finally folded into the perfect shapes, whether it be the labyrinth walker, manswatter, or any other project (i assure you this book was one that, despite my cynicism and love for reading, i could find no fault in). You gave countless memories of showing off a flasher, interlocking rings, and many more spectacular projects and i recently found your youtube channel and wanted to truly thank you for excellent memories and continual fun with origami, as well as sparking a lasting joy that i hold to this day. I hope you continue shining light and laughter in peoples lives as you did for me as a child, you do a great thing in this world
Awe, thank you Ava, for you heartwarming message! I'm so glad to have played a part in your passion for origami. Wishing you all the best!

Grainy Paper on www.Origami-Shop.com is pretty nice. But more economically speaking.... any craft paper or butcher paper works well for flashers.

Nice sasisfing
Very nice 👍👍
How in the world did you crumble it 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Can u make it out of 12x12 grid?
Yes! As I said in the description this works from any grid iso-area simple flasher. You can also do it form a 5X5 non-iso-area easy flasher, and you'll end up with four flaps that overlap twice to close the box, or from a 7X7 non-iso-area easy flasher and the four flaps will overlap three times before interlocking to form the closure of the cube.
How do you get the 10 inch square kami paper you use?
I get it at my local Daiso store. It costs $1.75 for a package of 25 sheets! You can also get it from Aitoh company. Search for Aitoh OG6 or just click this link: www.amazon.com/Aitoh-OG-6-Origami-9-75-Inch-100-Pack/dp/B003V79L7C/ref=asc_df_B003V79L7C/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194013412954&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12339836880037758906&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032078&hvtargid=pla-315634899556&psc=1

Hi
Noice
Hey Jeremy shafer, I have not been able to do the second side and pls make a tutorial where u can show the second side a much simpler way
Try to remake it. If you were able to do the first side. You should be able to make the second side, because both sides are the same. It's iso-area.
can you please make a 16x16 grid one?
Can you make a origami transforming banana?
try making a tessellation cube
If you fold this model a bunch of times, they can link together like legos to form a grid of cubes, and they can even lock on top and on the bottom of each other.
