- [Intermediate] How to fold the new Four Square Flasher X which was designed by Leo Gustafson and Jeremy Shafer during a Zoom tutoring session. At the beginning of this particular session Leo showed me the 4 square central configuration he had folded and wondered if it was possible to incorporate it into a flasher pattern... And that's exactly what we did! Since the session was only a half-hour long, we weren't able to complete the flasher during the session. I was however able to complete model to the "flasher vortex" stage shown at the end of the Zoom clips near the end of the video, and I later added all the pleats to finish the model. I posted pics of it on the community tab and a lot of people requested I make a tutorial... so here it is!
One more kind of cool thing about the model (I didn't show in the video) is that since the middle square is a waterbomb base pointing downward, you can balance the flasher on your finger and even spin it!
I renamed it Flasher X because in the pleat pattern it looks like an X, and because I later figured out a simpler four square flasher that does not have the X, and because it has a slight resemblance to the Flasher X designed by GreenArt4 demoed by Golden Fire Origami here: • Origami Flasher X, Des...

Jeremy shafer origami , I figured out how to make this flasher, but with much more diagonals folds. It turned out really cool and I was able to collapse it but it is kind of complex ,and I haven’t made a demo of it ,Because this is not my UA-cam channel this is my brothers account. @@rsull1995 Not completely, but there is a lot of that too!
Each model has it's own origin and route of design. Some are very purposeful - trying to design a model that has been requested. Others are a combination of luck and imagination... where your free folding (without any goal in mind) and you suddenly recognize the some form in the model and then you try to make it look more like that form. The third method that I often use is evolving or combining other already made models or folding structures.
JeremyShaferOrigami oh my gosh you replied to me! I mean I came up with a turbo flasher tesselation design that took a couple tries. But I made that about 2 years ago. I don’t know if I designed it because you originally came up with the turbo flasher but I tessellated it.

jeremy, just a challenge, do a 8x8 square (basically just a water bomb tesselation) and the flasher going out from that so you pretty much do a 64x64 grid and do it from there (sorry i have bad grammar and spelling) :D i love ur vids and want to meet you some day. ill try my best to come to the next origami usa convention, if there is one, and i really REALLY want to see you there. keep on doing what ur doing! :D
edit: if you made an oscillating flasher that uses the same "4 squares" that would be WAY cool

@@hue_nuts I tried origami 4 years ago, and i was terrible, but then, 2 years later, i started folding paper airplanes. Now i could fold origami pretty well, so i think learning how to fold paper airplanes helped me with origami.

23:40 OMG I FOUND OUT HOW TO FOLD THAT!!!! You first fold an 8x8 grid and then you perform this twist that is similar to kawasaki's iso-area square twist. I also found out how to collapse it! Now I have a cool little flasher!!!

Jeremy shafer origami I just folded an origami four square flasher x but bigger size like about the size of flasher hat u want to know how I did it , I took 4 chart paper (bigger than A4 or printer paper) and tape them together with clear tape then I just folded this four square flasher it was a peice of cake and u make your models as I best I think that u would make.
