You are the best teacher on youtube. How you only have 156,000 subscribers when others not nearly as good of a teacher and far less talented than you have millions is a mystery.
Hello Shane, Cracking song to learn. I haven't played much lately as I've been training for a marathon, which is this Sunday the 14th I'll be pushing my son in a wheelchair. Then I can learn and play more. It's great to see your subs growing.
Ha! That's a great analogy - a big thank you Art - slow it down as you're practicing snd maybe try to work up to concert speed - hugely important strategy for any song! Cheers, Shane
Wow, I love that I have enough confidence to approach this song. A large part of that confidence is because of you and your encouraging lessons/tutorials. Thank you. P.S. great to hear you singing the lyrics. I think that helps me to learn and follow along with the song.
Thank you James - it's so funny you mentioned that open A note....I'd been playing it without that note for decades....when I went in to tidy it up to make the video I heard it in the recording. I really like it. Best to you! Shane
@@freesk8 I took something else out of this lesson. As a campfire guitarist , I was strumming the D chord ( yes it’s an E before some smartarse corrects me ) and trying to pick the melody. Now I’m playing the melody and strumming in the space between notes. The difference is amazing.
Great lesson Shane! I believe that song, written by Lennon, was on the Rubber Soul album. Definitely one of my all time favorite Beatles tunes! Hope that you are doing well! 👍👍
Thanks Shane, I am picking up rifts faster with you. I like how you incorporate, the slow down version, and get a handle on cord changes before moving on, and "the sing-cord change warning works well". Same song(s) different teacher, and things come together like magic
One of the finest teachers I have found as your style of teaching really works for me Shane. I signed up to receive the tabs for the individual lessons and this has accelerated my learning process. Thank you Shane and keep up your great work.
One of your best lessons! Just love playing melody and strumming at the same time. Also love the instrumental part of Wicked Game. Can you suggest more songs of this type? Thank you! 🙏
Great lesson! I’m hoping to learn it before I visit my son in 3 weeks. I can’t sing but he can. So it should be fun. I agree with the others who say you’re one of the very best teachers on UA-cam.
A big thank you Richard - always happy to hear from you lad. I'm in full agreement - I don't have a 12-string at the moment but it sure would be great for certain songs. Best to you, Shane
Thank you Johnny - great song for sure. Hope all is well there with you and yours - Cheers from the nation's capital where all of your tax money ends up. 🇨🇦😀
Hey thanks for that. Glad you’re enjoying. All of the melody is done with downstrokes on this song. It’s only when you strum that you would alternate D/U. Have fun with it! Shane
Hey Shane! As always a beautyful lesson! Thanks so much for it. Great teaching. Still possible to wish lessons?😊 Would be nice to have Sarah and Gibsy by Fleetwood Mac and my favourite song by Neil Young, Southern man. Nothing "usable" to find here on YT and I know, if you care it will get out mindblasting
Thanks so much for posting this Shane. I’m having a little trouble incorporating the strumming. Are you muting your “Chicka Chicka’s?” I’m getting a full D chord and it sounds terrible.
Great point David - thanks for being here. Best to make the melody 'primary' and not wash it out with strumming that is too loud/aggressive. I call them 'whisper strums' - maybe just the top (thinnest) 3 strings or so.....nice and light in the strumming will bring out the melody. Best to you, Shane
Shane, I got another request to put on your list. Shelf in the Room by Days of the New! They are a band I hope can make a come back. Their Green album is incredible!
Thank you Elena - best question ever! I hold it mainly between my thumb and middle finger - and my first finger comes in once in awhile for control-type stuff. Cheers, Shane
@@GuitarAtWork thank you! Hope that helps as I mainly alternate strum super fast chords on the electric (not power chords, just open and bar chords). Same for the bass, just alternate super fast single notes. Im trying different technics. Cheers ☺️
For sure - thanks Don - you can play it without a capo but it won't match the pitch of the recording or this video if you are trying to play along. Best to you, Shane

What was your point exactly?
Good luck at the marathon Jimmy, wishing you and your son all the best

Still the TOP Teacher in my book Shane Top Man Thanks my friend 👍🏻
A big thank you Keith - always so supportive and encouraging. My best to you lad! Shane
+1😎👍
Great job. At 184 it’s like trying to step on a moving escalator to make that first strum. 🎸
Ha! That's a great analogy - a big thank you Art - slow it down as you're practicing snd maybe try to work up to concert speed - hugely important strategy for any song! Cheers, Shane
Well... This is a great finger twister.. of course I stopped the video many times and I got it. Slowly but surely. love it! Thanks Shane
Fabulous - thank you Louis! Shane

Thank you Mies - fabulous - hope you have fun with it and all the best from Canada! 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Love this I knew I was missing a note. It’s that open A.
Short cuts are a bad habit
Thank you James - it's so funny you mentioned that open A note....I'd been playing it without that note for decades....when I went in to tidy it up to make the video I heard it in the recording. I really like it. Best to you! Shane
@@GuitarAtWork . I tend to hack guitar for vocal accompaniment and suspect that because I don’t sing that note it just passes me by.
Me too! I was leaving out the open A!

Sorry to repeat possible frequent question. Which model Taylor 8 is that? Great videos, content and teaching approach
Sure thing - it’s a Taylor 814ce (2019). Glad you’re enjoying! Shane
Do you recommend alternate picking the riff or can we just do down strums? Thanks Shane, you’re great!!!❤

@GuitarAtWork Its a great acoustic song. One I think I could play with a little more direction.
