The reality is Singapore is truly the model that ALL other cities in the world should emulate 100%. The beautiful thing is, Singapore does not F around. You better not commit any crime here or you WILL be punished and quite severely. The US could very much learn a thing or two from this ideal city/country.
I knew it must be on a Sunday. The crowd are essentially foreign workers on their day off. Most of the female are domestic workers and the male are Indian/Bangla construction workers.
This video brings back great memories. I was in Singapore a few years ago and fell in love with the city, it’s dining, culture and its people. What a spectacular city - city of the future! You’re both excellent fun tour guides! BTW I notice you now have over 38k subscribers! Congratulations keep up the good work! On to 100k!
Btw, the Marina Bay area is built on land reclaimed in the late 70s to early 80s. And they made a large part of it into Gardens by the Bay.
Just to add on: your meal at Marina Bay Sands is double the price at regular hawker centres. Cheap bottled water (less than a dollar) and drinks are usually found at supermarkets not convenient stores.
Welcome to Singapore and hope you're fine with the humidity. A feedback on video 8:34 these are not local Singaporeans, they are foreign workers from neighbouring countries. The locals usually hang out at the food centres you had your meals =)
You may hop on a train to enjoy the scenery of this city state and then get off at a housing estate to mingle with locals. You may take the MRT at City Hall or Raffles Place. At Raffles Place, you can take a 5-minute walk to Singapore River to view the colonial buildings, bridges and the statue of Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore. Having crossed Cavenagh Bridge, turn left to go through a circular tunnel that leads you to a park where you sit and enjoy the sea breeze. From there, you climb the stairs on your right, cross Anderson Bridge and walk down the stairs on your left to the Merlion Park. After that, you return to Raffles Place to take the train to Clementi Town where you'll find a bustling town with low-price street food at coffee shops* and a hawker centre and buy some drinks and fruits at a low-price supermarket. Do not take the train during peak hours. Take them after late morning (10am ) or early afternoon (2pm). *A Singapore coffee shop is not like a Western cafe. It's a restaurant with no air-con which sells low-price hot & cold beverages and a variety of Asian food. Ask for directions; most Singaporeans, including Aunties and Uncles, can speak English. P.S. To reserve a seat, just place a packet of tissue paper on the table. Place one packet each above the chair on the table if you need two seats.
This is like so interesting, fun and exciting discovering one of the most advanced and developed city in the world.. Beautiful
Yes those seasts serve as the grandstand for the Formula 1 races too......Video: Singapore Night F1 2011 at Marina Bay Sands Skypark MrKeSavaraj
I miss Singapore, lived there for 7 years up until 5 years ago. Still looks the same. For sure, move there! If you want to get some feedback from expats on where to go, what to see, go to a bar on Club Street in Chinatown, and also see the old shop houses.
Welcome to Singapore, so happy to see tourists coming back to add vibrant and life to the city =) hope you enjoy yourself
In Singapore: why it is so ‘modern’
1. The government is more focus in the people & infrastructures development, etc. rather than quarrelling & ‘fighting’ amongst the politicians.
2. Not corrupt generally.
3. Less or little races issues.
4. Always plan 10,20,30,40 to 50 years ahead.
5. Very safe. The laws are very strict with regards to guns & drugs trafficking.
A child can walk in the streets or back-lane in the middle of the night & he/she is safe.
6. Efficient. A simple pot hole on the road will be patch up overnight so to speak.
What we don’t have are the natural mountain, waterfall, etc.
Do you know many ‘natural’ things in Singapore are man-made. 😳
p.s. A very enthusiastic happy couple. Nice.
Welcome to Singapore 🇸🇬.
True
The only thing I would disagree with here is number 3. While outwardly there is little races issues.
A lot of people seem to think less of Indian and especially bangaladeshi.
Just moved back to Singapore after 4 years of being away and it’s sad to see how much that sentiment has risen.
Just today I had a cab driver all a Bangladeshi man dirty and said he was destroying our city.
Other then that I still think Singapore is one of the best cities in the world to live in and I’m glad to be back.
Welcome to Singapore! S$25 is too expensive. You should check out the local hawker food centres for cheaper and probably more delicious food.
Also, if you are interested in cool hotel buildings, you might want to check out Parkroyal at Pickering.
Enjoy!
its MBS what do you expect, of course its pricey.
Welcome to sg guys…. Glad y’all loved it, enjoy your stay here
Food to try in a hawker centre: BBQ stingray, chicken wing (singapore style is the best!), wife likes popiah, beef kwai teo (thick noodles), Bak Kut Teh, Roti Prata, Hokkien Mee, Laksa! Carrot cake (white is milder taste than black which is a bit bitter). Again don't get the cheapest versions, your stomach could suffer a little with that.
I would love to visit Singapore sometime! It looks like such a cool place, especially the gardens by the bay 😊
Love your videos. Welcome to our Sunny Island. Enjoy!
God bless
Drinks to try in a fruit juice stall: soursop juice, mangosteen a MUST! (buy the fruits in supermarket, amazing taste). ABC drink. Water melon juice is very refreshing. Kalamansi juice for a mild lemon taste, its great.
Glad both of you had a good time in Singapore, there are more to add on to what you experienced, so do come back. Visit the heartland areas, see how to locals really live. Also there are many natural experience you can have: the forest hike, the cycling paths network, the water way sports (canoeing).
8.55 min location: That statue with water pouring out of the mouth is a Merlion, a classic iconic feature of Singapore, to signify Singapore heritage as a lion city, and also its past as a Malay fishing village. Sang Nila Utama discovered Singapore and probably saw a feature of a lion-like animal and named it Singapura, ie "Lion City" The fish tail signifies our fishing village roots, like a mermaid, instead create a Merlion :).
Those people you see having a picnic there are usually are our Construction workers and House Helper(Maid) having their day off every sunday.
Hi Welcome to Singapore guys. hope you enjoy the foods here. Enjoy your holiday.
First video I've watched from you guys and I like the vibe. I was born in Singapore as well, but despite having no real attachment to the place it's still cool to see your impressions.
I think as well there's potential for you both on UA-cam as you learn and grow. I subbed to Kara and Nate when they were hovering around 100K subs and look at them now with 3 million...
Welcome to Singapore 🎉🎊 Happy that you both like it here 😊💝
Enjoy yourselves . Great & joyous couple
Welcome to singapore! But the coffee you all gotten is isn’t cheap, if u want good coffee there are some hawker without aircon cost around 1.80-2.10$SGD in the area. Anyway, glad you both enjoyed your stay in singapore~
Hope you guys enjoy Singapore
The wife is a Filipino, love your recent videos from there, thanks!
I hope you guys get the opportunity to go to Sentosa.. ☺
For cheaper food, can find 'Bagus' or 'Cantine'(usually in a small shopping centres). You just need $10 for each person (food + drink)..
Hope your enjoy your time and the good foods in Singapore.
Gonna be in Singapore in December for New Years, can’t wait. Been wanting to go since I saw crazy rich Asians
Sugar cane juice and coconut juice are the best drink to quench your thirst on a hot day. Buy them at the hawker centre if you are visiting one.
Thank you very much. Enjoy your stay,🖐️🖐️
Amazing video man! I must say that $25SGD is really expensive even for the tourist areas!
If u guys had arrived just 1-2 weeks later, the weather would have been so much less hot lol
woohooooo i hope you had a great time in Singapore!!!
Welcome to Singapore! Glad you had such a wonderful time!!! =)
*_When are you coming back to Thailand? If ever you find yourself back in Bangkok, I'd recommend going on a trip to Koh Chang off the coast of eastern Thailand. Cheers and have fun in Singapore!_*
Awesome! Love it
Hi. Just watched - A guide to interalling to Europe
M planning to Europe , christmas market ,festives.
Very informative . Thank u for sharing.
The floating platform is used for hosting the National Day parade which is on 09 AUG.
Thanks for going to my country 🇸🇬
The place where u saw many seat is call the floating platform it is where we host our national
day
The seats area are for special occasions yes yes i know F1 too is a special occasion but where they do F1 is at the Singapore Flyer area and the one with lots of seats are for the NDP (national day parade) and that means Singapore birthday
That place is mostly used for the NDP and some other things too
You may get mineral water from the supermarkets at a pretty decent price. A 1.5litre bottle of water at supermarkets such as NTUC Fairprice/Cold Storage/Giant retails for about an average of $0.70 cents.
Go in evening 7_8pm Garden by the bay . Cooling weather
The spectator stands with many seat is where we hold our annual National Day
8:32 Those are our 'migrant workers' a.k.a. foreign workers. They consist of the Filipinos, Bangladeshis, Indians and Indonesians.
If you are still in Sg, do try out our local delicacies at our hawker food centres. Maxwell, Old Airport Road, Hong Lim, Chinatown Complex, are some food centres with plenty of stalls of different types of cuisines selling at commoners' prices. All the best.
Drink tap water. Its the only drinkable water in South East Asia. I've drank from the tap over 35 years. No problem.
Welcome to Singapore :-)
The food court at MBS is never cheap. If you want cheap food, go to the local hawker centers... food is good and cheap. You can get the same dish for $4-5. For the MRT, you can use your tap via your apple pay/google pay/Samsung pay on your watch or phone. Singapore tap water is clean and drinkable. But you can also get distilled bottle of water for SG$0.50 at the local NTUC supermarket. Still cheaper than in London since I just got back from London on Wednesday morning and was there for 5 months.
Thanks for bracing the heat and humidity to shoot the vid for us. 👍
it looks so cool =)
I learnt a hack from a friend. If you can find any maternity rooms (usually located near the toilets in malls), there may be a water dispenser you can refill your bottles in Sg.
🤫
You can try pharmacy (e.g. Guardian Pharmacy, Unity or Watsons Pharmacy) or grocery Supermarkets for less expensive bottled drinking water 👍😃. Take care and have a safe trip.
The local supermarkets sell water for as cheap as 50 cents even in the bayfront areas. Convenience stores like 7 11 are huge ripoffs
lovely view there at night! 🤩
It’s such a beautiful city at night with all the lights!
Where to begin.... yes supertrees at night is great, and in front of the hotel underneath the laser light show for a great show for free. Hawker centres are great, go to the queues which are the longest, but stay away from the cheapest food, can be difficult on western stomachs :-)
Did you guys stop by at the F1 Pit for the Army Open House?
Soon enough the couples vlogging in Singapore or Thailand just head to the Philippines. That is where everyone is going. Missing Singapore, especially Little India.
I love ur guys vids
I remember drinking Lemonade all day instead of water coz its so expensive, coz they import freshwater or desalinate the water. If you are adventurous enough you can try finding "Sweet Water" btw I never seen anyone who disliked this city/country Singapore.
Not sure what you meant, but you can drink water straight from the tap for free in Singapore. I hope you did not survive by buying bottled water (hence more expensive than lemonade?), which is such a sin to do so here. 😉
@@huaiwei I learned it on my 2nd visit 🤣 can't wait for my 3rd trip to singapuraaa soon 🥶
You should walk to lao pa sa hawker which is walling distance
its called the merlion also i suggest going to gardens by the bay at night as they have a light up performance.
You are wrong! The area where there are so many seats are for the National days of Singapore, this year they are doing the National Day at the float the float is where you saw the seats. The Formula 1 seats and track are near raffles boulevard and the esplanade.
For those who found this comment the mistake can be spotted on 2:27
Hay mate so lovely in singapore hope dont end over spending
0:07 its spelled as "Glam" now Gelamn and also 2:29 thats where they have the National Day Parade
I know how you feel when you travel abroad away from home... wish you grand dad get well soon
Usually it is the caregivers that suffer the most.
i will visit SG this first September, hope everything is going right
From Malaysia?
hello subscriber from ph.. godbless guys take care
Thank you!!
You should defiently try out the satay market at Lau Pa Sat Satay
That $25 (for that mee-goreng) can buy you a set lunch with soup, steak, desert and coffee at Jack's Place, a local Western food restaurant with many outlets.
It was quite expensive, in my next video we eat for a lot cheaper! 😊
@@Joelfriend yeap it is typical touristy pricing for food which is not that great either. However, if you are at MBS, you should have walked into a proper restaurant instead which serves quality food and the pricing is reasonable for the quality you get. Gordon Ramsay has a restaurant there too (Bread Street Kitchen), in case you are unaware. 😀😀
$25 for that two plates of food?! That is daylight robbery as a Singaporean...You guys can find much cheaper food below $10 per plate and much tastier if your visit residential estates towards the far north!
the colourfu;ll seats you see are so call platform stagings that houses spectators for National Day Parade and also a graduation location for army recuits whom have completed the 3 months Basc Military Training. All males must go through compulsory 2 years of natinal service in either Police, Civil Defence, Army, Navy or Air Force.
If u guys havent going to the jewel at the airport, do go there, trust, nite time for nite lights show :)
We have a 17 hour layover in Singapore on our back home from Bali and we going to make a video of all the things we do!
Nice walk
There's no cheap food at marina bay sands, it's a standard tourist attraction so things are costly, just head to the hawkers for better price for quantity and quality
❤❤beautiful place Singapore
Such a beautiful city!
If you don’t know what the statue which had the lion head and mermaid tail, it’s called the Merlion
Hi - do you still need trace together app or token?
You can rent bicycles at Esplanade and cycle around Marina Bay Sands.
Ah no way! That would been fun!
@@Joelfriend If you need food recommendation, let me know. You have probably see the usual videos on where to eat but I have alternative options.
@@Joelfriend You can cycle from Marina Bay Sands all the way to East Coast park as paths are all connected .
Welcome Welcome 😁😄
What are budget friendly hotels to stay in sg pls?
Form India Tamilnadu 👍
The stadium is for national day
thanks for wearing ur mask :D
what's the music title from 9mins onwards.. you 2 are most welcome to work here
Hope you can have great chicken rice at affordable prices after malaysia ban export of chicken on june 1st. Not sure what will be the effect for 1 month(at least).
Me and my partner are looking to travel to south east Asia next year and was thinking of coming to Singapore for a couple of days in April. Is this a good idea with the weather? Any tips would be greatly appreciated ❤️
Welcome it’s good
It is fine. Generally less rain in April. Wear as little as you can
Come must come
It's beautiful...beautifully expensive :D
69k views. Very nice as of 15 July 2022 Singapore time
Stayed at MBS 2016 the pool.... the pool...... just amazing open 0600-2300 i spent every evening i that pool looking over Marina Bay - hotel there's better but worth paying to be able to use that pool once i your life
Im born there!
Nice vid. 👍 $25 for two is mooocho expensive though. Do explore the local hawker centres and try the local food; recommended by other posters.
I've no idea on what's the state of chicken rice now. I mean, how it's going to taste like since there's a ban on fresh chicken imports from Malaysia as they are prioritizing meeting domestic demands. There'll still be chicken but a portion of it is frozen imports from other countries.
There's probably no difference. Maybe? Chicken is still chicken. No? 😛😄
The big bunch of people u see hanging out picnicking at the park aren’t Singaporeans. They are usually foreigners or foreign domestic helpers that meet up with their friends on Sunday to chill and hang out.
Singaporeans don’t really picnic….
yea, we don't, maybe bbq in the evening. 🤣
Em..you use to do ballet , right? Can you show a bit of? Something to swan lake..be a treat, thanks
My state doesn’t provide digital vaccination certificate, i just have the CDC card, do they accept that?
Well guys the crowd you have seen chilling on esplanade ground are mostly not locals. The are mostly foreigners working here as domestic worker, construction workers or medical workers like nurses. They are mostly from Asian countries like The Philippines, Myanmar, India, Indonesia or Bangladesh!
Even most servers and waiit staff aren't locals. You are forgetting Malaysians, there are abt 900K of them working/studying here
@@SNeo-tk9hu yeah so true! Singapore being a melting pot of diverse people of other nationality where they come to work legally to earn more then they could earned back in their country despite the hardship of separation from their love ones!!
the chewing gum free city of the future :D
AC is normal outside of the uk so it wouldn’t be that expensive..
Where is the hotel?
