Lovely stash! It’s funny that you think of pinafores and skirts when you look at corduroy, I think of chore jackets when I see wide wale fabric and shirt dresses when I see pinwale. So much scope for imagination, enjoy!
Your lovely Art Gallery tencel would make a super Nell dress. As for your corduroy - what about an Ilford jacket? So nice to see your stash. I think we can all relate to stuff sitting in boxes, much loved but with no clear idea what to make with it. I have just bought the most gorgeous piece of viscose crepe from the Cousette sale, the palest ashes of roses pink and am now pondering over what to make with it but am tempted by the Helen's Closet Gilbert shirt.
Just taken all day to go through my stash. Measurered all the lengths and widths and labelled them all. It has been a while since I have seen some for this stuff. Thank you for the push. Delighted with the results.😅😮
You have some beautiful fabrics Ruth, it’s definitely not a small stash compared with mine, I only have twelve and seven of those are Think Pink Subscription fabrics. 😂 I have the cream corduroy fabric and I think I’m going to make an Ilford jacket for Autumn out of it. ❤❤
Having enjoyed seeing your " small stash " I don’t feel too bad about my " small stash" !!!! From time to time I look at all my fabrics and quite honestly consider myself to be insane . To solve this problem I walk away and close the door of my sewing room and only return after I've had a cup of tea or a large glass of wine.!!!! Needless to say I am currently on yet another fabric buying ban 😂 So thanks Ruth, I love your choice of fabrics. Please could you share with us your stash of patterns..........???
Just had to message you. I’m wearing the Tessuti Milenda in that blue and white linen mix you’ve just shown from your stash! You mentioned you might make it up in the Milenda in another vlog and it made me smile - what are the chances? Also I wanted to thank you particularly for something you said quite a while ago, in a vlog when you were talking about having found your space / place / people. I’ve sewn for years, but only just found the online community and it’s been really wonderful for me. You said just what I was feeling, but somehow, hearing someone else say it made me very happy.
Hi Susan, thank you so much for this wonderful message and I'm so glad you feel the same way I do 🥰 A Milenda would be very nice, I think I have 2m so it might be a bit of a squeeze with those long panels but it might work xx
Thank you for showing your small stash, (I dont think it that small LOL) you have some lovely fabrics, dont leave it in the boxes, make some lovely garments. We all have fabric that we are afraid to cut, but I am going to be brave and go out of my comfort zone real soon. Happy sewing xx
Those Kallax units are fab, aren't they? I think I have too many fabrics, until I see other people's stashes! I have four of the fabric boxes, one has old sheets for making toiles, one has miscellaneous fabrics, linings, small pieces of furnishing fabric when I had the bright idea I was going to make a bag, etc. Then I have my main two, one with new fabrics and one with leftovers from projects. I am trying to work my way through both of these boxes, although I have been tempted once or twice to order new fabric! I am conscious that it can get out of hand if I'm not careful. And I have more patterns than life expectancy for making them!
@@SeamStressedRuth On a different note - I am just preparing the Butano shirt and wondered if you had sized down at all. Looking at the finished measurements I think I will be swamped if I cut the medium that I measure into. It doesn't look that big on the models in the pattern description.
I went with the finished garment measurements and chose a medium at the bust and waist and graded to a large at the hips. If you are ever going to wear it buttoned right up you might want to add a cm to the collar as mine has quite a big gap at the front where it doesn't meet. I suppose that is to accommodate the neckerchief which I will probably never make. Nice enjoyable sew though, have fun xx
Lovely stash which makes my stash look out of control!! The lovely ivory viscose jersey with the eyelet design in it would make a fabulous Adrienne top from Friday Pattern Company.
You are so organised! My stash is definitely smaller (I would call your stash medium sized) but I have a lot of scraps which would probably fill your kallax unit 😅 the usable pieces for garments I only have a small amount so I need to embrace patchwork!
OMG! I’m overwhelmed &exhausted just looking at it all! Love your channel & seeing what you make! How about a pretty dressing gown with the white eyelet jersey?
Hello Ruth. Great vlog. My stash is bigger than yours. A great deal came via my mum, lots of luscious vintage fabric which I am too scared to cut into at this point, but I will get there! I have subsequently added to it! Hope your pins and needles resolved and you enjoyed your cuppa. This vlog was quite the work out! See you next time😃
Compared to mine your collection is small but I have been collecting since the 1970s! I have some jumbo cord which I was planning to make a workwear style jacket with perhaps a sheepskin or leather collar. My collection also includes a lot of wool and I don't think you had any which surprised me . Enjoyed the vlog as I love looking at other peoples fabric x
That's true I guess it is all relative, and no I don't have much wool at all. I have the boiled wool for the Tessuti vest pattern and I've only ever sewn with it once before which was a beautiful Liberty wool blend I made into another Tessuti pattern, the Ines. I must lookout for some for winter. Thanks for the nudge 🥰
Great vlog again Ruth. You have some lovely fabrics. I have the blue and white linen mix and was wondering about the Milenda from Tessuti patterns -- then I see that another of your viewers has made that fabric in that pattern, so I think I might just give it a try.
Not small, but manageable I'd say. You'll never be stuck for something to make and there are some beautys in there. I laugh when I see stash fabric reveals because I literally have 6 pieces in my stash at the moment and I make up each item before I start another. I know that's not the norm, but I don't have space in my cupboards or my head for much more than that. Weird by most people's standards I know.
Not weird, I started out like that but over time it has slipped into the state it's in now. Going through it all has made me remember what lovely things I already have though so hopefully I won't buy anything for a while 🤞 Who am I kidding lol
I don't think you have an excessive stash, but it's not small either :-) The only fabric from that lot that I also have is the corduroy from the Think Pink Box that you swapped. It's definitely your colours, but not mine, so I have no idea what to do with it. It's a really good quality fabric, though. I can't wait to see what you make with it, might give me an idea.
It's lovely quality isn't it but I know what you mean about not knowing what to do with it. It's an unusual print but I'm sure it will look amazing whatever you decide x
Some lovely fabrics. My favourite corduroy make is Lander pants ! If I did one of these it'd be about 3 hours long , I think current count is 187m (!!) I'm relatively new here and nearly spat out my tea coz I grew up in Newcastle under Lyme 😂! Your stretch eyelet could be an Adrienne blouse (or dress). Gaberdine is usually woven and twill/worsted tightly woven so it's waterproof, so don't think the ponte-like fabric is that. Would make fab FPC Joan trousers tho! 😍
How funny! It's always nice when we hear someone talk about places we know isn't it. I do actually have the Lander Pants pattern so great shout there, I shall keep a note of that so I don't instantly forget 🥰
Fab vlog Ruth I think you have more fabric than me but not as much as Bec’s and Adele 😂some gorgeous fabrics in there as well 🥰💕🥰
Wow some amazing pieces in your stash. Take out what you have plans for and that will give you a start before you forget what your plans were. 🤣
Now that’s an excellent idea!

Oooh the Amara vest is on my list! Can't wait to see yours!😍

I have the same fabric and thought maybe the Millenda would be a good choice for the pattern. Thank you You have confirmed it for me.

Sorona linen is absolutely divine fabric.
It's the only piece of it I've ever had and I'm not sure. Perhaps i'll change my mind once it's sewn up and I can wear it 🤞
Love your collection of fabric and patterns. The Little Legs cotton linen in box 2 is super. Great video
It really is a beauty that one x
Biggish stash Ruth. Love the Lady McElroy faces fabric the best then the m and m ones ❤

I know the feeling, I have lots of patterns and very probably not enough time to make them all. It's nice to have options though 🥰

Oh thank you so much 🥰
I always love a good nosey in people’s stash. Well done! 💖👏
Small stash!! Really enjoyed seeing everything x
Thanks so much 😊

I have a needlecord shirt dress which I love, I make the collar stand and cuff lining cotton fabric so that its not too thick x
I have the same chunky green cord, which is also going to be a pinafore 😂 I've cut out the Jayne by Buttons and Bobbins😊
What a great plan, I think the Jayne will look fab in that!
Thanks for sharing your stash, you have some gorgeous fabrics
Thank you 😊

I think that's a good pairing, you'll have to let me know if it works well 🥰
Lovely vlog, love a lot of your fabrics. My stash is small as just started sewing again, but it is growing every week!😂
Enjoy the gathering! It's quite amazing how quickly mine has grown, I actually don't know where I kept it all before having the storage unit 😄
Lovely collection
Thank you 😊

Hi Ruth, great video. Do you by any chance have a link to the Amazon patchwork squares? I’m looking for something similar.
Hi Yvonne, yes of course! I have added it to the top of the list of links in the description for you 🥰
Do you recommend a shirt dress pattern?
Brilliant Vlog as always huni. Fabrics are fab. Where did you get your fabric I’d tape from I could do with some. Xxx.
Kylie and the Machine sells fabric ID tape - it’s really handy!
You can have my roll Michelle, I rarely use it to be honest. I'll bring it next week xx
@@SeamStressedRuth aww Ruth your way to kind. Xxx
@@meganlb01Thank you Megan. Xxx
Oops. Sorry.....box 1
I hate to say it, I have much more. I have had to go on a ban and delete all emails so I don't buy from sales.
