Julia Doyle hits it out of the park yet again. Singers take note- this is how Bach should be sung- beautifully nuanced, exquisite phrasing, intonation, agility and humility. Keep your huge wobbly voices for later repertoire. This is perfection.
A marvellous and moving performance. I always feel a great satisfaction at the end of the performances of the Bach Stiftung especially when Herr Lutz graciously ensures that all the performers get the acknowledgement from the very appreciative audience.
Bendiciones y Felices Pascuas
After listening, one after another, Rudolf Lutz's Bach Cantatas, I come to the conclusion that his interpretations rank among the most satisfying. Balanced choice of tempi and phrasing, naturalness, simplicity and deep understanding and affection for Bach's music. Add to this a superb playing and singing by all the performers. The setting of the church and the layout of the orchestra, soloists and choir is also well thought. English subtitles are essential for non-German speakers. Thank you JS Bach Foundation for the exquisite gift.
That trumpet part is heavenly 😊...literally and figuratively. Overall the highest trumpet part in Bach's entire oeuvre, it ascends to the highest scale tone he ever wrote for the instrument (20th harmonic of the natural trumpet). Symbolically, the believer is escorted to heaven by a (trumpet wielding) guardian angel. This symbolism occurs elsewhere in Bach's cantata work (e.g. BWV 19), and we can perhaps speculate that it held a more personal meaning for Bach, given that his own father Ambrosius - whom Bach lost at only 10 years old - was a trumpeter himself. Interestingly, the trumpet part seems to have been added only for the re-performance of this Weimar work on Bach's first Easter in Leipzig (1724). Presumably because the exceptional Leipzig trumpeter Gottfried Reiche was able to perform this stunning part ("practically unplayable", as Rudolf Lutz calls it). One wonders if Reiche, some 20 years Bach's senior, might have reminded the latter of his late father.
A most beautiful and moving rendition, with a concise and deeply theological libretto! What a wonderful musical gift for the Holy Weekend! Many thanks!😊
It's always seemed to me that here Bach tries to imagine what the laughter of a god would sound like... the problem being that such laughter should be absolutely terrifying!
@@rocketsroar1 Haha, okay, I see. . . . So how is "realistic" going for you? If the "real" world is a meaningless pit where this is no good and almighty Creator, everybody is going to die and there's no point, you must have a reeeeeealll fun time living in the "real world".

Wow. Other versions could barely keep on pitch at a moderate pace and this chior is blazing through the piece twice as fast and yet still sounding twice as good! Unglaublich schön! Absolutely spotless match of words - die Himmel lacht - with sounds - rapid "ahahaha"-ing. ;) Wunderbar.

That final choral-such fine, beautiful words, full of tenderness on the part of Jesus. Well, well done.

Great performance. The trumpet descant in the chorale is so incredibly beautiful.

I love so much when herr Lutz, at 14.47, warns to first violin... Wonderful...🥰🥰🥰

All the trumpets and drums I could want - joyous and heavenly. - Thank you again Johann.
That magical prolonged silence at the end, when you know that you have been privileged to hear something miraculous.

Bach's God is a joyful, dancing god, full of understanding and forgiveness. I'm almost tempted into belief!
Repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ, on whose shoulders God has put dominion of the world.
