The Amazing Ways Of Watching Media In VR!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 сер 2024
- In today's video, we will be going through the different methods of watching media in Virtual Reality. Whether it is a movie you want to watch or just some UA-cam, you could do all this inside VR, on your own, or with your friends on a big screen. A lot of this video will focus on the Quest platform, on devices such as the Quest 2 or Quest Pro, as this is what most people will be using. However, a lot of these methods can also be used with PCVR. We will go through different apps, like UA-cam VR, Bigscreen VR and Netflix VR, and sideloading apps like Disney Plus and watching files locally. I will also show you that you can watch movies and transfer files through OTG On the Quest! I hope you enjoy the video :D

Sorry if I sound tired in todays one. Let's just say I haven't been getting the best sleep in the last few days 😅
But anyway, what are your favorite ways of watching Media in VR?
Bigscreen is my favorite, whenever I watch youtube in VR I go to the Residence, as it has real-time lighting for youtube and it looks amazing :)
i use the netflix app
I don't even know what is a proper sleep anymore... btw I watch UA-cam videos, I don't have anything to watch movies.
@@Doug_Fany you can buy or rent movies on youtube.
What is your home environment and where can I get it?
Absolutely agree. Also, absolute no-brainer is watching 3D movies in VR. I've been playing VRChat for well over a year until one of my friends asked me if I had ever done that before. Later that night, I was finding myself in a room with him watching Ratatouille in 3D and it was amazing!
I love "Yet Another Movie Theatre" 😎
What app did you use for the 3D movies?
The 3D movies looks amazing better than Movie theater
I watched a bunch of youtube videos in VR and IT CHANGES SO MUCH, because its exactly like a movie theater blew me away by how different it felt
Imagine if VR was more normalized during quarantine and instead of zoom people just use the VR?
We need another pandemic in 2026. When quest 4 has been launch.. To push the adoption
@@MasTommy21"we need another pandemic" is crazyyy 💀💀
@@kayastuff9367 yes, I hope that was a failed attempt at humor by Tommy
Headsets are expensive and hard to clean. Schools wouldn't want to distribute them because they cant support things like word or basic windows apps anyways
I was in VR playing flying games every moment of free pandemic time I had 😂
Hey Mysticle! Watching TV in VR is absolutely awesome! I recorded the experience on my phone. It’s an experience I’ll never forget!
This is the type of "things" i like to do with my devices your channel have become one of my favorites lately Keep the good work and i will be waithing the "Custom enviroments" video.
Oh and FullSBS 3D movies on the QuestPro look absolutely STUNNING. Better than watching on my old Plasma 3DTV from years ago. An incredible experience!
I love you videos thank you so much for making them
Where does one one find legal copies of 3D movies? Vudu for one example doesn't support 3d through their awful Quest app that seems abandoned.
For watching local files alone, I prefer to use the Virtual Desktop app. It can also play 3D movies. I first used it to watch Arcane, laying down on my bed at night with a giant screen in the sky. The first experience is unforgettable. The only downside is that sometimes I have to convert files to mp4, but that is no problem as I can do that with a sideloaded FFMPEG app right inside Quest 2.
I enjoyed your video, as always. But I was expecting more in terms of Skybox, Virtual Desktop, and even Pigasus.
I do love skybox.
I'm shocked 3D content wasn't mentioned, either.
❤❤ love you're content😁😁
VRCHAT is what I have been using mostly for media viewing.
Just started your video, but there a couple of VRCHAT worlds that I visit, almost, regularly to watch content.
I find this a fun experience. I enjoyed it:
Great video, I've been using Big screen since early beta on PC.
great video!
I've been using Bigscreen since the beginning with my OG Vive. It's amazing how much it's still exactly the same as back then and also significantly better.
Great video thanks a lot!
Just found your channel and subscribed. For a few years I've had the original Samsung Odyssey WMR that I use mostly for sim racing. If I want to branch out into watching 2D and 3D online videos, can I keep using what I have or should I get a different headset? I'd also like to watch 3D videos of things like roller coasters, downhill skiing, riding dirt bikes, etc. Is there one certain model that stands out for all of the uses I described above? Thanks
I would love to see a video on custom environments, i know ho to install them but I don't know where to get them (other than sidequest) and I just love your videos
I prefer Skybox. Has upscaling, more visual settings and 90hz option. Also works great with my network drives.
Agree, Skybox has been BRILLIANT for me watching 3D movies.
Nice Danny DeVito cutout
I stream content from my Jellyfin server to Q3 in the Meta browser. Just enter and bookmark the server IP address and it works fine, even with VR/3D movies stored on the server. If the browser is windowed it will look like you can't properly view 3D content, but just make it full screen and the controls for 2D/3D and VR appear. Select the 3D mode first (side by side or up/down), then select the VR mode.
streaming movies from the pc using virtual desktop is also great and very easy
hey it's been 2 years since u talked about VR ready laptops, and this year the 40 series laptop gpu's are really good
VR is definitely a must in every area. Just imagine how cool it will be when schools start using it during lessons. Learning would be so much more fun and effective.
P.S. I hope you get some good sleep tonight!
Amazon Prime is a bit buggy but you can get it to work and when it does it works great
quest pro below gap is nice, to see keyboard/mouse control by sight
Great video
I'm still having problems getting sound when streaming PC-to-bigscreen vr. I can share youtube, vimeo (can't remember if I tried Netflix), and video comes through fine, but never any sound. Lots of discussion about this issue online, but I've yet to find clear and detailed instructions/solution.
Bigscreen is awesome for watching movies in VR, especially in 3D. I love the choice of environments you have and also the cool lighting effect the screen gives off to the surroundings
Fr and since they added yt the game has gotten way better
Hey, really love the channel, keep the vids coming :)
Curious why you seem to prefer apps over just using the browser? Disney+ works fine in the browser and gives the same results. Seems much easier than side loading the Android app.
"Skybox" VR player(only for Quest users) very good fo watching inside headsets media on the big screen, best for waching 3D moves, because it have a more settings to adjust the 3D depth. images, which are not in other players.
For those that have the setup, I also have a home video server with Jellyfin. So I can stream media to my headset and skip OTG storage entirely with services like jellyfin or plex.
Do you prefer Jellyfin over Plex? if so, why is that?
@@RIP123 I prefer jellyfin. It was simple to set up, does what I need it to, and I didn't need an account for anything just to use it on my local network. I tried plex first and had issues getting it going just within my home network.
@@Inari-IX What app are you using for vr? I'm using Findroid and its way better for jellyfin codec compatibility
@@Inari-IX Tried my hardest to use Jellyfin but i just couldn't get the server to work properly, the jellyfin client i sideloaded into the quest wasn't finding the my jellyfin server so i just opted to use Plex instead.
Could you give me some details on how you connect to your Jellyfin server from the quest 2? did you sideload de android client as well?
@@RIP123 I just updated to the 2.5.0 beta 2 libre release. My server shows up automatically when I go to add a new server. I didn't do anything specific.
For 3D movies I load them directly onto the Quest 2. For everything else I stream from my Plex server using Skybox VR Video Player. Bigscreen would work for streaming from a Plex server as well as it can stream from a DLNA server.
but you can't stream for your friends
DID it work to watch a VR headset on a plane? I tried it once and it couldn't keep the image stable when the plane moved (which was why I thought they were currently working on some kind of travel or plane/car mode to compete with the same feature that the Apple Vision Pro has?)
can you watch movies and other vr content on that big screen vr headset or have a you tube app download for it.
hi mysticle!
Get ignored lol.

Awsome video as always!
Hey is there any any chance you could do a video guide on how you would go about viewing 3D CAD designs on a Quest/Quest Pro?
I really want to be able to quickly view my fusion360 designs in 3D on my quest pro but I just cant find a way to do this!
When I hear VR and Productivity THIS is the use case that jumps straight out at me but all the so called “productivity apps” seem to let you just draw things and see your desktop!
I want to design a bracket or fitting then put on my headset and view it in a 3D space, even throw in other assets to properly visualise it all.
If anyone knows a work flow for this its mystical the king of VR😊
I'd love to see this, too. I know Blender supports it, but no CAD software. Makes sense given Blender is more media and entertainment oriented. Hopefully someday!
How do I make screen further away instead of up close? Thanks!
I love my Pico 4. If anybody's looking to buy a headset for PCVR. I highly recommend the PICO4. Pancake lenses just can't be beat. And it even has the option for a wireless PCVR with decent battery life on the controllers and the headset.
do those apps always looks "curved" or you can make them look flat? Apart from the bigscreen app
If i dont game and know very little about computer tech is the meta quest 2 something for me?Thanks!
Great did you mention you can watch 3D movies in VR headsets
I have tried bigscreen which is okay for jumping into other rooms but I actually prefer to use virtual desktop and watch files from my PC which you can actually download straight to the headset in the app if you're traveling
Can you do an update to this with the Quest 3? Would really like to get some insight on how useful and comfortable it is to watch movies via the Quest 3
Ive had some great 3d movie watching experiences in Bigscreen but only from the limited movie selection they have for rent which hasn’t changed in years! I’m still waiting for their next available 3d movie for rent, will probably be old and grey by that time
3D movies are amazing in VR!
I've had some great 3D and general experiences in BigScreen as well.
Hey, that's what the public rooms are for - current movies, in 3D!
Don't worry, maybe we'll have full dive VR by then, and you'll be able to feel young again when that time comes.
(Partially kidding, lol. Full dive would be nice though.)
I need some deep advice on VR I mainly want one for streaming movies and tv from Netflix , prime , Disney and Hayu. I have no idea where to begin. I want a wireless option where I don’t need a PC or anything . I basically want a VR iPad/tablet where I can download the apps and go
Great video question can you direct me or make a video on how to get the HBO Max app installed please and thank you
thanks bud! 👊🏽💥
You didn’t mention that the Netflix VR app lets you watch content in glorious 480p!
They also used to have 3D versions of movies for 3D TVs, but afaik, it never worked in VR.
The VR app hasn’t been updated in years, which just seems malicious at this point.
That explains the obnoxiously low rating. I myself pretty much never use that one, it never seemed to work well for me.
Let's go the testicle uploaded a video again😊
Is there a way to for example to view an IPTV app on the headset through either bigscreeen or virtual desktop ?
Where did you get that shirt? I must add it to my arsenal of wolf shirts.
Hello I have a question, when watching VR videos, how much better is the video quality when the quest 2 is compared to the quest pro?
Marginal.
@TheMysticle, which face cover do you use in your quest 2?
Can you use a 'link-cable' as the OTG adaptor between an external drive and the quest 3 ? - Your vid was created 11 months back so maybe the quest 3 doesn't apply here...I'm questioning whether connecting a USB external hard-drive to the quest 3 C input will work using jut the link cable, and is Amaze File Manager necessary? I would love to be able to watch movies from an external usb drive on the quest 3 without needing to run a tethered 1000w PC or dloading the file to the quest mem.
Does the Sideload work for Pico too?
There is one feature I haven't been able to find. My folks have a 3d tv and there is a setting to turn on 3d for non-3d video and it works pretty well. It gives video more depth vs things popping out at you. Are there any VR Video apps that offer that function? I've see a few native 3d movies and watching them in VR is pretty much /the/ way to watch 3d video content but it would be nice to apply that foe 3D feature to all video.
On PC their is a app that does exactly that foe 3D effect your talking about. Its called IQmango 3D Player. I use it all the time to watch TV and Movies.
look up owl3d
I use Amaze and OTG doesn't work for me?
Hello there Mysticle :D
How do you stream off your Pc or phone on the big screen Vr app
What about streaming Kodi on your Quest, any experience with that?
Bigscreen all the way. BigScreen Beyond stand-alone VR headset the Dream. 😊
Keep dreaming.
Why would they ever make that? The whole point of the beyond is that it can be small because it doesn't have a battery. I'd be insanely surprised if they release a battery powered headset ever.
@@joko49perez I like to see it but you're right. it'll never happen.
P.s what i would like is for them to focus on bringing hand tracking into their Bigscreen app.
nop. can't watch movies you uploaded to your headset with friends
Disney and Prime always stutter in Big Screen for me. I love Big Screen though and everything else works great! 4K resolution for movies is the way to go when watching in Big Screen, it makes a difference even though the headset isn't 4k.
How do you get desktop on your BigScreen? Not remote Desktop but Desktop like on the video.
Is watching videos locally free to do? And also what app is it on and is that app free?
If i'm not watching with friends I've taken to watching movies using Virtual desktop, it has some nice enviroments and because the Quest 2 is rendering the enviroments it leaves my computers resources free so I can play pancake games that way too.
USB support for external devices used to not work. I understand it works now? Will try.
Could you connect bluetooth to surround sound receiver and sound bars to watching movies and how
I'd imagine it's the same as connecting headphones?
no mention of Skybox? that's what ive used
I’ve never been able to get the Disney+ apps to work on the Quest. Can’t seem to get past the login screen.
It's was also nice during covid
Can anyone help me be able to access Netflix vr (the oculus app) on valve index please
Hi The Mysticle...I am SLY from Canada...very nice helping video....got some question hope you can help.
1- tel me the best VR head set to watch movie on my sony-bravia 65inch TV.
2- Can I download some movie from internet put in the USB then look at it in the VR
3- where can I have this VR for I hope lest that 500$ or close.
Thank for all the help
I was so impressed by the cv1 was kind of disappointed with the quest 2. It was so hard to back from oled to lcd. Got part way through HL Alyx with cv1 then couldn't continue with the quest with the grey dark scenes. The low fov is claustrophobic aswel. Can't really get excited about vr until micro led of oled with high fov is then norm.
To watch movie you don't need big fov. Higher resolution and better lenses would have been preferably. But in games for sure FOV is 1 place
I think the AR glasses should be able to do this already for media watching and gaming. Not quite there yet for productivity use. However I did like the idea of watching the same screen with others physically not in the same room. Could be like playing retro games (e.g. TMNT arcade, Alien vs. Predator, Mario Kart, etc.) with several players all in different locations looking at the same screen whether it's full or split screen.
Can i finally get an answer to my question? Does the Pico 4 run Bigscreen or not?
I was literally watching Fantastic Beasts 2 3D just 5 minutes ago!
With VRCHAT, one can also watch stuff on their own. Just need to create an invite instance.
Can the screen be as big and tall as a movie theater screen?
Your Amazon UK link doesn't work ( I used it to look for an OTG adapter )
Your Voice is insane
will this work okly or nicely on the vridge setup anyone who experienced or mysticle pls reply asap !! wanna try it eagerly hope it work what do u say ??
I was wondering if my friends would be able to watch movies from my pc if I invited them to a room to watch together?
i love the social aspect of Bigscreen but until they get a curved screen option i am going to stick with Skybox . Oculus TV is also fun
Skybox is pretty awesome. In bigscreen you can use the personal monitor to add a curve to it. You than have to resize it to the size you want. It would be nice if you could have a big curved screen by default.
Am I the only person to buy Quest Pro just for movies, well I did as I did the Quest 2, Quest and Go before . It’s good, but the weight and the need for 2 controllers is annoying.. the Go is perfect except the lower quality. I am also in Ireland by the way. Skybox was my main app before I used big screen. I usually just upload mp4 videos from my Mac, I nearly had a panic when the supplied usb c cable that comes with Quest Pro did not support copying movies from Mac/PC to the quest.. it just needed a different cable.
I got my question vr recently and I like it am going to get among us vr for my quest 2
Tried Big Screen, which is really cool, except that I can't get anything from Prime or Disney+ to share with other people in my room, even though they have accounts and are logged in: only I see what's playing. What's the secret there? (new to VR, just got Quest 3!)
I wish there was a decent media viewer for 360 stereo stills and vids
there was oculous gallery
but its gone
virtual desktop is kinda clunky for media viewing
I have huge folders of top bottom stereo images I used to view in gallery
haven't found a good alternative.
I want to watch 3d 4k movies with my mom in another state. Given she has the bandwidth... hopping plex in big screen works considering it can stream 50gig moves...
Something else you can do if you have a pc is just opening a service on that and connect to your headset where you can then enlarge the screen
I prefer using SKYBOX VR to Bigscreen
I use VRChat to watch movies in general, not even with a headset. A bunch of free movies that you'll usually have to pay for, but for free.
You missed tve best, Pigasus.
Great channel.
I was gonna switch to Bigscreen for UA-cam until they switched the tv app to just a browser. The browser is annoying so I switched back to the UA-cam VR app.
Does pico 4 allow you to do the same? does it have access to bigscreen app and others? would love you to do a video on watching media using a pico 4 vr headset :) love your videos btw.
Pico 4 does the same and actually has all the streaming sites as native apps, no APK nonsense you need to install.
@@dylan1867 Thanks for your response...very much appreciated :)
How is the resolution? More like HD or Full HD?
Does anybody know how to use big screen with Netflix?
Is there an Apple TV app to watch movies there?
