- If you would have told me that there is legit mountain biking in downtown New York City I simply wouldn't have believed you. But here we are. I got invited by my friends at NYC MTB and Staten Island Trail Riders to check out some of the work that they have been doing for years!
Their goal is to get mountain biking to all five boroughs of NYC. Make sure to check out their website, their events, and see if you can volunteer!

It's crazy to see singletrack in Manhattan. I grew up riding Stillwell Woods on Long Island, and in my 20's would take the Metro North train from NYC to ride Blue Mountain near Poughkeepsie or catch a ride out to Ringwood NJ to ride around there. You had to have the means to escape NYC to ride trails. That said, one of the most memorable rides of my life so far was doing a loop around the perimeter of Manhattan with a friend of mine, on our mountain bikes, in a snowstorm. That was a heck of an adventure.

Oh, hell yeah. I no longer live in Detroit. But, I think we could do this here. On the plus side, Detroit has been severely depopulated. It shrank from over 2 million residents to just over 600,000. So, there’s a lot of empty space, here. A lot of that empty space has been reverting back to nature. On the downside, the terrain here has been ground flat as a board from the last ice age. This really intrigues me.
It would be really cool to see this started in Detroit. You can reach out to the guys at NYC MTB to see if they can help in any way!

@@KevDoes I almost got that one, but bought the old GoPro 8 one. I like that it has the GoPro clip mount also, but it's not the greatest for holding in teeth on longer MTB lines.
