I was waiting for this vid to tell me if i really want this one my table, and if the 8 nM is /is not a bit too much for that. Your test made me decide to go with 8 nM. Also, tighten the screws on your Ikea table? :D
I think for anyone who doesn't have a rig but want to enjoy sim racing and not have a toy as their first setup, the CSL DD 5nm and CSL pedals are the perfect entry. It completely works with a desk setup as we can see in this video. The brake pedal is soft enough that it works on a carpet floor and doesn't move around. When you're getting serious and decided to get a Rig, you can then upgrade your CSL DD to 8nm and get Load cell for your Pedals to get the 100% performance out of your CSL set. This can't be a coincidence and to whoever at Fanatec who thought of this, you guys need to give him a raise lol.
its comforting to see several youtubers testing this CSL DD on Ikea tables without breaking the table, as i am also an ikea owner, and want a DD for my next wheel upgrade :D
@@brzo. Thanks for the info. I also started looking into foldable wheel stands, but I'm still not sure if the GT Omega Apex is enough or I should go with the Next Level Wheel Stand 2.0
Some UA-camrs said 100% dont use the 8NM option on the Desk but after watching your vid, Im almost certain that I should go for that as it seems to hold up on your desk and my desk is very very sturdy. Thank you Jardier! You rock!
In Random Callsign's review he shows the table clamp moving a lot, maybe it's an issue with a more stable desk, I will be using Trak Racer mount and mounted to my desk, also has the added benefit of being able to mount it further back.
Thank you so much for this. This was the last thing to keep me from ordering this wheel, but now i am not afraid. Its great that you used kind of extreme example because your table seems unstable and even though the movement is there, you still said the force feedback didnt loose the great feeling and since i have a very firm and strong table, i think it should be ok. I worry little bit about the extreme angle of the base with using the table clamp (i dont know why the angle is forced and not adjustable) because i guess i will need to get higher chair to use it comfortably and then grow longer legs because of the higher chair :D
Yeah that was actually one thing I forgot to mention is the angle, it was ok but I can imagine trouble for small desk or if someone has small or high chair. But yeah cant make everyone happy I guess 😂😂
The angle is indeed quite big. You should have a desk that can be lowered or higher pedals. Wheel stand or cockpit would be best. I have the same issue now with a csw 2.5 on my desk.
Another option for the angle is to DIY. I have a t300 and my table can't use the clamp. I just took a piece of plywood, bolted the base to it and use good old f clamps (the screws ones, not the plastic quick adjust). It just needs some spacer pieces of wood to clear the bolt heads. You can do that to the csl dd too, and there's problably a way to have side mounting angle adjust with metal L brackets or something, but flat angle is the easiest.
you dont have a clue how much you helped me with my dilemma about that wheel going with the table, and i have a really really sturdy table that wont budge no matter what so 8nm is gonna be perfect for the job, simply cant imagine whats the difference gonna be when i switch it from my g29 that i just sold, so now have to wait for whole 3 months without a wheel but i know its gonna be worth it.When i go buy it im definitely gonna use your link to buy it because you just helped me soo much and made me a very happy man. I'm actually wondering if there is a difference between running the 90W power supply at 100% and running the 180W power supply turned down to 5/8 so about 62%. I have the CSL DD with boost kit on pre-order and a friend of mine considers getting the PS-compatible version once it becomes available. Naturally, he wants to test mine once I have it to decide betwenn the 5 and 8 Nm version, but Jardier's last video on the CSL DD got me thinking if the feeling is actually the same.
For future generations, more nm equals more possible force output. Therefore 5nm on max will have less detail, than a 8nm at 60-70%. If you have the money buy the 8nm
I'm really considering getting the CSL DD and replacing my G920.. i recently bought the NLR Wheel Stand DD which handles direct drive wheels.. but it is over 1000€ for the setup I've spec'd out..

I must have missed where Jardier says what Ikea table he is using? Can someone tell me the table name? Ikea does not make very good desks anymore and I was curious to know if Jardier's table is still in production and for sale at Ikea. Thank you in advance. If I can't get an answer for the above can someone tell me how deep the CSL DD tableclamp goes on the underside of the table? I have an old Ikea Jerker desk somewhere around here that is very sturdy and stable. However, it has a large metal bar running along the bottom of the desk only 6cm from the front edge. So if the CSL DD tableclamp needs more than 6cm it will not fit on my old desk - and then I could look to see if I can find Jardier's table at Ikea. whew....so many words! :) Thanks in advance. :)
Hi Jardier, I see you were here reading comments as you flagged a comment by NotDWP 10 hours ago as of this post. Can you answer my two questions in my post just below NotDWP that was posted about 24 hours ago? recapitulated here - What is the name of your IKEA desk? How far does the clamp extend under the bottom of the table? If you go to your video at the 1:34 - 1:39 mm:ss timestamp you will see about what part I am asking. How deep does that bottom piece of the tableclamp extend into the table? Thanks in advance!
@@Jardier Thank you! It sounds like my desk might work since it is 6cm deep. If the tableclamp part only extends to a depth of 1 or 2cm it should be fine. Thanks for the information. Always looking forward to more ACC vids! :)
Question: Whose DD Base also makes a very slight noise when it is switched on? It‘s a very slight high frequency noise. I use it with the Boost Kit which also emits a high-frequency noise. I would appreciate if you could let me know if your Base (and PSU) is COMPLETELY silent - when it's on. THX 🙏🏼
OK, for those interested, I found it through another source! The steering wheel sits raised at the driver at roughly 35 degrees compared to the tabletop.
So if you have to spend about 1k+ (usd) to get a fanatec setup anyways, is 8nm worth it ($450 csl dd) when other bases go up to 20+nm and it would be like $500 more. i guess you could always upgrade the base later the csl dd seems like it's gonna hold its value for a while
To be fair to the plastic clamp it looks pretty thick and sturdy compared to your usual plastic clamps they should last. Great review I feel like it covers everything to do with clamping it to a desk and how it performs. I like the fact your table isn't super sturdy as it shows what how average persons sim setup will perform :) What i didn't like about the review is i definitely know now I have to upgrade my table if I'm going to get one of these bad boys 😂 EDIT: I meant to ask if the pedals can come with carpet grips instead of the rubber on the bottom?
Thank you :) yeah as said as its plastic I dont trust it 10000% BUT it looks way better than competition or stuff that I used to have. i guess time will tell 🤩
If your table has 4 legs you can brace the 2 side ones and the back with some wood (like 2x4) or aluminium/steel bars of a few mm thickness; and then no need to buy a new one. As long as the top is not paper thin
@@escalator9734 I would do that but I need to move it everytime I want to play so it would become more of a hassle for me as I have very limited room and the table is for wheel only my monitor is currently a TV on a separate stand, definitely good for people who don't need to move the table though 👍. I looked into getting a decent sized table designed to hold pc, printer monitor etc but my room is also an awkward shape which doesn't help. My current table wobbles about as much as jardiers with a g920 so wouldn't be suitable for the dd. Its an awkward situation at the minute 😂
@@KRobertsonGaming Yea not an optimal situation. I know the hassle of finding the proper stuff in a cramped weird room. Hopefully you'l find something that suits you well
Come on September! I have the original playseat evolution, so Iam pretty sure I have to drill it, or try to use the table clamp to mount mine, I bought it just in case. I got the 8, I can’t wait !!
I think my table is flimsier than yours. Maybe I can screw it to the wall! Also it has a bar under the front of it, so I need to check if the clamp will clamp onto that bar (the Logitech G27 clamps on just fine).
quite interested in the CSL DD F1 ESPORTS PREMIUM BUNDLE FOR PC, it will going on a fairly basic playseat. The G29 with AXC brake wil get jogged on to new pastures. Its kind of in my budget but i'm still nervous about spending the money. Also a little worried about the availability as it changes weekly! Simple question for anyone kind enough to answer, would I be doing the right thing buying this? This bundle also comes with the load cell brake pedal.
This video is perfect for me because I am considering making a purchase and this is my exact setup, cheap Ikea desk. What are good sim driving games, I am avoiding iRacing because of its subscription model and high cost overtime. Currently I am playing Forza 4 with a controller but it more of an arcade driving.
Jardier you look like a smaller version of the mountain from Game of Thrones lmao 🤣 great video will plan to get the csl dd for PS/PC when it comes out!
Jardier, I have Logitech G920 pedals right now and they are too stiff. I heard load cell is really good but man that smooth brake on the CSL pedals sound great to me. Are Loadcell pedals stonger or softer than Logitech brake?
What about if my table doesn't move around and shake but it's kinda thin? Mine is like 1.5 cm thick and if I put my weight on it it does flex so I'm concerned it won't take the 8 Nm. With the G29 it's been solid, minimal shaking.
Thank you for this video, was hoping for it. I'm considering the 8nm pack, and for now I'm forced to use the table clamp. My desk is almost 2cm thick, but it is really sturdy. It might be difficult to know, but do you think it is strong enough, or would it be better to use the 5nm pack with that thickness? May i also ask what the thickness of your desk is?
I want to start in this world of sim racing, as a sim racer do you recommend this base? Obviously I will go for the 8NM version but is this enough? I mean the difference between this and the DD1 and DD2 is justified for the extra money that you need to spend? Thanks for your video, really helpful!
Your just starting. Buy the 8nm version and when you feel you’ve outgrown it, sell it online and buy a DD1 / DD2, unless the money isn’t an issue then I would say do it, but because your just beginning this journey get the CSL.
@@PO3TRYN3NTROPY thanks!! Did you know something about the Simagic Alpha mini? I was watching some videos about it and reviews and they talk very very well about it!
I'm afraid of either pushing myself or the pedals away when braking. I had that issue with my G29, how is it with the CSL DD and their pedals? And I'm unsure if there is any sense in racing with a wheel without a rig. I mean you have nothing to lean on, nothing around you. What do you think?
cant say with entry pedal, im on desk csl dd 8nm & load cell elite V2 since 3days, before, g923 (which has natively the stiffest brake spring from logitech) im sitting on a wood plank where pedals are also and bolt in i can go up to brake force set to 65 % to reach 100% brake but i will then start to lift (default spring and the 3 x 65kg elastomer pre mounted, but for now at least, i set to 50% when driving, its already damn stiff for reaching perfect trail lol) My chair is not actually an office chair but a cinema seat cut apart & bolted down on its own wood plank Back of the wood plank of my cinema seat has a rail of metal to hold me back so when i push i isolate force from pedal slip, low seated so i dont uplift but my bro with same set has a wheel chair and his "arms chair" goes down (so diagonaly) under is bed so it avoid lifting up his chair aswell + lowering the chair itself, he press 35% on driving and trail no problem, coming from T3PA pedals
My desk is simple, its wood plank on trestles, thought i would need to change from table clam on it but this is totally fine with 8nm, probably due to 4 foots instead of 2 and main movement being latteral, my screen (Dell S2721DGF) doesnt wooble, its stable On g923, i had Non-slip tape "BOMEI PACK" from amazon on the ground (easy adhesive) under my cinema chair being on a wood plank itself and was absolutely fine
I've order the DD etc with a table clamp, i have a really really sturdy table but my chair is on wheels and on wood floor, my worry is that if i buy the CSV3 pedals with load cell, i will just push myself away from the pedals everytime. What do you think? I can get the wheel brakes from GT Omega etc but i may have to avoid load cell until i get a rig.
I am Driving the CSL Elite on a Table and considering to upgrade to CSL DD with Boost kit. Would you say its worth it to upgrade just because of 2nm Difference? Or is the DirectDrive aspect so much of a difference compared to the CSL Elite? And last but not least how would you compare CSL DD 8nm with DD2? Is there much of a difference?
I was very impressed at 1 min 45 seconds in, the alcantera or is it suede on your wheel has really held up well considering how you use it like you stole it, it still looks fairly new, maybe give it a brush over from time to time with a suede brush👍👍
Great video. I was wondering if anyone knows how much clearance is needed beneath a desk to clamp. I have a bottom support under the desk top and just trying to make sure I have enough room. Thanks!
My table is very solid, but I am in conflict about if I should get the plastic CSL DD Table Clamp or the Clubsport Table Clamp V2... since I have heard some people complaining about the flex if using the angle clamp on the CS TC V2.

Can you use the Clubsport Table Clamp V2 or Clubsport Table Clamp V2 angle clamps with the CSL DD base? That sounds strange!
@@DxBang3D That is great. Always good to have other options. I see in the Clubsport Table Clamp V2 images that angle clamp you speak about. It does look like it might induce flex since there is only places where the angle clamp is secured and that is at the base angle (i.e. the angle clamp is the hypotenuse) . IIRC, the CSW V2.5 had two angled brackets. Can you attach those two angled brackets to the CSL DD and then attach the whole thing to the Clubsport Table Clamp V2 minus the angle clamp? If possible that may result in less flex?
@@packy264 I might just be "forced" to buy both and try them out. Anyways, I still have lots of time to research, I won't be ordering anything before Black Friday since the DD wheel itself won't be ready for delivery before close to BF.

If you only run the 8nm on 70%, shouldn't it feel the same as the 5nm on 100%?
no 5nm on 100% means clipping and you will miss many important signals so ideally, no wheel base should run 100%, 5nm wheel should only run 80% max
But if you were using 70% on the game and 70% on the wheel, then you were only using 0.7x0.7=49%, so only 4NM in reality. Isn't it?

If I can't get an answer for the above can someone tell me how deep the CSL DD tableclamp goes on the underside of the table? I have an old Ikea Jerker desk somewhere around here that is very sturdy and stable. However, it has a large metal bar running along the bottom of the desk only 6cm from the front edge. So if the CSL DD tableclamp needs more than 6cm it will not fit on my old desk - and then I could look to see if I can find Jardier's table at Ikea. whew....so many words! :) Thanks in advance. :)
Challenge: do a 24hr endurance race using that table.
Poor table 😏
Thankyou for making this
Hi Jardier, I see you were here reading comments as you flagged a comment by NotDWP 10 hours ago as of this post.
Hey mate its KARLBY :) and the clamp goes extra 1-2 cm I would say
@@Jardier Thank you! It sounds like my desk might work since it is 6cm deep. If the tableclamp part only extends to a depth of 1 or 2cm it should be fine. Thanks for the information. Always looking forward to more ACC vids! :)
Question: Whose DD Base also makes a very slight noise when it is switched on? It‘s a very slight high frequency noise. I use it with the Boost Kit which also emits a high-frequency noise.
I would appreciate if you could let me know if your Base (and PSU) is COMPLETELY silent - when it's on. THX 🙏🏼
OK, how many degrees does that unit sit when clamped to the table? Good video Jardier!
I like the fact your table isn't super sturdy as it shows what how average persons sim setup will perform :)
What i didn't like about the review is i definitely know now I have to upgrade my table if I'm going to get one of these bad boys 😂
EDIT: I meant to ask if the pedals can come with carpet grips instead of the rubber on the bottom?
All those saying GT lite rig won’t work with the 8nm hasn’t tried it!! U will be just fine boys
I swear you chose Donington because you didn’t wanted your table to break in a half 😆
Great review!
Loool hahahh no I actually had it as premade option in single player so I went with it 😂😂😂
This video is perfect for me because I am considering making a purchase and this is my exact setup, cheap Ikea desk.
How does It feel compare to old bases like clubsport 2.5 for instance?
Good god, the wobble in that desk is horrendous. I don't know how you can put up with that even under normal use.
Pro desk sim player can fix and filter the wobble , desk no collapse is fine.
Tableclamp is simulating your bodymovement in the seat, wobbly-effect :D
xDDD
Jardier, I have Logitech G920 pedals right now and they are too stiff. I heard load cell is really good but man that smooth brake on the CSL pedals sound great to me.
Are Loadcell pedals stonger or softer than Logitech brake?
THX Jardier !!!
What about if my table doesn't move around and shake but it's kinda thin? Mine is like 1.5 cm thick and if I put my weight on it it does flex so I'm concerned it won't take the 8 Nm. With the G29 it's been solid, minimal shaking.
Nicely done review, i really like the price of the DD wheel.
Soooo when you gonna try to run the CSL DD on a genetic 180watt power adapter?
I have a 5cm thick table from IKEA. Will the clamp work, or will it not get thight enough? PS: Great vid as always !
she’s such a sleek dd gorl
Its annoying that I have to wait for my DD till end of november because of their artificial shortage
May i also ask what the thickness of your desk is?
you never know tbh.. a wheel stand is probably the safest bet if it's possible to get one
Are the plates for the pedals out yet or you have to wait like fanatec site says
The button on the dd1 ughhh no good bought the emergency stop used so I could switch it on from that much better
Great video, just one question, which steering wheel is this with the red QR?
The red one is clubsport v2 now therenis new version with name clubsport v2.5x
I'm afraid of either pushing myself or the pedals away when braking. I had that issue with my G29, how is it with the CSL DD and their pedals? And I'm unsure if there is any sense in racing with a wheel without a rig. I mean you have nothing to lean on, nothing around you. What do you think?
cant say with entry pedal, im on desk csl dd 8nm & load cell elite V2 since 3days, before, g923 (which has natively the stiffest brake spring from logitech)
im sitting on a wood plank where pedals are also and bolt in
i can go up to brake force set to 65 % to reach 100% brake but i will then start to lift (default spring and the 3 x 65kg elastomer pre mounted, but for now at least, i set to 50% when driving, its already damn stiff for reaching perfect trail lol)
My chair is not actually an office chair but a cinema seat cut apart & bolted down on its own wood plank
Back of the wood plank of my cinema seat has a rail of metal to hold me back so when i push i isolate force from pedal slip, low seated so i dont uplift
but my bro with same set has a wheel chair and his "arms chair" goes down (so diagonaly) under is bed so it avoid lifting up his chair aswell + lowering the chair itself, he press 35% on driving and trail no problem, coming from T3PA pedals
My desk is simple, its wood plank on trestles, thought i would need to change from table clam on it but this is totally fine with 8nm, probably due to 4 foots instead of 2 and main movement being latteral, my screen (Dell S2721DGF) doesnt wooble, its stable
On g923, i had Non-slip tape "BOMEI PACK" from amazon on the ground (easy adhesive) under my cinema chair being on a wood plank itself and was absolutely fine
Ps. i'll use your link when i buy the wheel and pedals (already pre-ordered wheel base)
No mate I would wait and get DD1 instead :)
I was very impressed at 1 min 45 seconds in, the alcantera or is it suede on your wheel has really held up well considering how you use it like you stole it, it still looks fairly new, maybe give it a brush over from time to time with a suede brush👍👍
Table go brrrrrrrrr
Great video. I was wondering if anyone knows how much clearance is needed beneath a desk to clamp. I have a bottom support under the desk top and just trying to make sure I have enough room. Thanks!
did you get those things to put it on the desk with it or did you bought those things apart
Its in package yes :)
I got my tv, ps4, and g29 in my weak white ikea table that vibrates everytime my wheel turned. Wish me luck guys :))
My current desk (waiting for reinforcement) is bending under T150...
Good morning
For this I need only the club sport clamp v2 or I need the Mountain bracket?
Thank use
Your a very nice person nice professional video mate 😃
Do you think mounting the 8nm on a stand would be too much?
I feel like 8nm is pretty much a 100% ffb t300.. Or is it even stronger?
The t300 can output around 4nm so csl dd would be double with the boost kit
also dont use a stand you can build a pretty sturdy wood rig for cheap if you know how to do it i did it its awesome
Im sure on 8nm nobody will use 100% and 100% settings so yes I think you good
My table is very solid, but I am in conflict about if I should get the plastic CSL DD Table Clamp or the Clubsport Table Clamp V2... since I have heard some people complaining about the flex if using the angle clamp on the CS TC V2.

Can you use the Clubsport Table Clamp V2 or Clubsport Table Clamp V2 angle clamps with the CSL DD base? That sounds strange!
@@packy264, The Clubsport Table Clamp V2 is compatible with the CSL DD base.
Can you do another test with 100% ffb on a sturdy table?
how far out does the wheel stick out form the edge of the desk?
Exactly. No fing measurements given
Im curious to your wheel / iracing settings after this
Jardier running out of fuel ?
Of course he did !
xDD
You are my hero
I want to order the csl dd wheel do you know how much the shipping will cost international?
What country do you mean? So I can ask people around :D
@@Jardier in the Middle East
