Great video! I can say from experience that this truck rides incredibly smooth for a static drop on machined 22s with short tires and helper bags. Awesome truck Josh!
Lol i always love when people tell me i ruined my Dually by lowering it. "I'll never tow anything now" lol well, now mine tows around my 20' enclosed hauler for my racecar. Love it.
Looks good man!! 👍…I’ve always wanted to build a square body crew cab for a tow rig…I also have a ‘05 LLy I bought it new, it would be a hard one to replace, but a square crew with a 12v Cummins is definitely on my build list! Keep up the content man, 👍👍
Where did you get the steering wheel? I’m sure it’s on one of the videos I’ve watched but missed it! I’ve got a 90 454ss. Gotta have one. Love your videos!
Got the same bodystyle truck mine with a 6/8 drop but I did my air different I'm cummins swapped and got on board engine driven air compressor on a leveling valve off big trucks. So when I load it down it will always keep ride hight the same. It's great with my 5thwheel trailer total weight 18k loves to pull the big block couldn't keep up.
Definitely a super cool tow rig and of course the ol'big block doesn't pull like a diesel but they do alright. What kind of rpm was you turning at 75? I wonder if I could put some helpers on my 65 C-10? No compressor just air up when needed. New subscriber
Thanks! I'm turning around 2,800 at 75 mph. I believe they do have a kit for your 65. It makes a big difference when towing or carrying a heavy load in the bed!
Once you get the power bumped up I think it will feel better besides the gas bill lol. I need to get the helper bags for the suburban so I can tow with it once I do a ls swap and have some power to tow lol
Cool just upgrade the old 454 with cam heads etc or put in a take out 8.1. With mild upgrades. Big blocks may be thirsty but tow great at reasonable speeds and cheaper to maintain than a diesel.
I have a 95 k3500 with the 454. I get 5-6 mpg when towing, my 07 dodge Cummins gets 11-12 mpg when towing and pulls alot better. Once I got the Cummins, I never wanted to tow with the 454 again. It's so gutless lol
lol man you're right that 'ol 454 is a boat anchor! I'm looking at some heads, cam and EFI setup to triple the power output. I also estimated about 6mpg towing.
@@yeahbuddygarage if you can find a later model 454 (1996+Vortec 7400), they have better flowing heads, roller cam and decent EFI. I found a used 160k mile 1997 454 at a local pull a part for $200, I converted it to carb and put a Edelbrock intake and long tube headers on it. I might have $1000 in the complete setup...carb to oil pan. These later model 454s are also rated around 300hp compared to 230hp.
ayee been waiting for this video. i finally found myself a 94 454 crew cab c3500. hopefully one day she’ll be at the power tour!! drove it 3 hours to miami without issue
Great setup - and informational (to me) as I would like to get a 3500 OBS dually. With air lift setup - wondering if the OBS could pull a 22 or 24’ enclosed w/a muscle car inside? Have to check tow ratings. 😊🤘
I wonder why alot of these old chevys have dents on the bottom of the doors and beds like @9:41 . Both my extended cab ond regular cab obs had dents from the previous owner. Like people are purposely hitting them 😢🤔
Tomuch tow ball weight will slow the truck up.. because it’s carrying weight not pulling it.. between 200/300 kg tow ball weight . Love the Chanel.. new subbi 🇦🇺
I'd like to get a hitch with a tongue weight scale. I've always loaded by eye but sometimes I have to load with the front heavy because most of my vehicles are lowered and the doors will hit the trailer fenders.
Totally understand, and great idea, at least youl know where it’s at.. be better on rear low profile tyres aswell with less weight.. it’s a big thing here in Australia.. the cops and road authorities hammer over loaded vehicles, trailer gross and combination gross.. 100% we aren’t climbing out of windows lol.. The dually a beast bro.. it will tow so good and be a lot better on fuel with set up right
I have a crew cab squarebody with a 454, heads, cam, intake, headers, 750 carb, headers, 4” exhaust. Built TH400 3 speed tows 10k lbs really good, does 90 on the HWy like nothing….only downside is that towing or empty it gets 7MPG…so I just bought a 12V Cummins and a 6 speed Allison for it.
What does he mean by turning this into a tow rig? It's a chevy 454 dually.... You know, i'm not the smartest man in the world, but isn't that truck supposed to be strong enough to tow?
Love this truck and have one myself down here in Australia 🇦🇺 😬 Keen to do a brake upgrade on mine too. What information do you know about the upgrade? GMT800 brakes I’m guessing you are looking at? @yeahbuddygarage
Yes sir, I am looking at a brake upgrade. I know there's a disc brake kit from little shop of manufacturing but I have also seen some fellas do the GMT800 upgrade as well. I will probably go the GMT800 route
@@yeahbuddygarage thanks for the reply Buddy. Would be awesome to see a detailed video, I’ve only found 1 really good video of it on UA-cam. It was done on a 4x4 style and mine is also 4x4 K3500 but lowered similar to yours. (Wish I had a C3500 but all these trucks are had to get down here in Australia). He used 4x4 GMT800 spindles and brakes but I’ve also led to believe that the new GMT900 brakes fit onto the GMT800 spindles. Do you know if this is correct? Thanks again 👍👍👍
This truck was built to tow. I say use it. I love it.
Love that truck! Need to paint the trailer white and get some polished wheels to match the truck .. 😎
I can see a trailer refresh video coming very soon. Now it looks like a turd behind this freshly painted dually! lol
It's bad alright...Bad ass! Awesomeness as it was rolling by!😎
Great video! I can say from experience that this truck rides incredibly smooth for a static drop on machined 22s with short tires and helper bags. Awesome truck Josh!
Thanks John! Great meeting you this weekend.
Bro, that’s a sick setup! Keep the content coming, it’s great motivation!
Lol i always love when people tell me i ruined my Dually by lowering it. "I'll never tow anything now" lol well, now mine tows around my 20' enclosed hauler for my racecar. Love it.
Heck yea man!! I'm sure people are blown away when they see you haulin that trailer too!
They tow better i feel. I love mine.
It’s a great idea as a tow rig!!! I love the truck!!
Such a nice rig!!!
I have a 98 I love it for towing my horses it's low like yours with the helper bags also
Looks great you’re videos are helping me lowering my 99 c3500 6.5 on 22s and idk if my ole 6.5 do 70 lol 60-65 is about 2500 rpm’s wide open.
One of cleanest also useful obs Chevy dually plus looks amazing hauling 68 C10 kustom project.
Thanks!

Man I would love to build a round eye squarebody with a cummins in it! My buddy has one in South Florida that I absolutely love.
Where did you get the steering wheel? I’m sure it’s on one of the videos I’ve watched but missed it! I’ve got a 90 454ss. Gotta have one. Love your videos!
No worries! It's an AZA Auto Wheel steering wheel and it's a work of art.
Thank you! Yes it is!
Such a cool truck. Love the vid

We love the dually!!!😎😎
Amazing truck. What kind of gauge cluster is that
Thanks! That’s a set of Dakota digital RTX gauges. They are awesome.
I pull a trailer everyday with mine best truck ever built.
Bro! That plate! 😂 Making me miss my ‘96 CC. I love a fat ass on a truck

Seeing how you said "a sluggish 454" maybe you need to super charge it,fun fun for sure
Now that’s a great idea!
The dually was meant to tow. I would recommend a PPE transmission cooler.

For sure!! The original owner of my truck used it with that exact setup. That 454 just won’t get you there quick. Lol.
Finally anther video keep doing more please love your channel keep up the great work 👍
Thanks! Will do!
Couldnt you have just done hazards to make sure the lights were working ? Thats what ive always done
Probably but on this truck the hazards and turn signals are on different circuits so I like to check em all.
Time for an heads, cam, intake upgrade… maybe even do a Holley efi conversion.
That's what I'm thinkin!
Cool ! Yes definitely !!
Love this truck
Do you have the link for the hitch?
Here you go! a.co/d/0lW9hm8
Sweet! I say sell it to me 😬
Is that a 18 foot trailer?
No sir this is a 20ft trailer. It's just big enough for me to put my dually on it if needed.
Would probably be better with a Cummins with Allison swap. Maybe a future build. The truck is visually appealing
I'd love to do a 12v with an NV4500 swap!
You were close, cummins with a manual

Man I’d like to know the same thing. This c10 is beat to hell. Lol
super cool yes! but probably 4 mpg !?😅
Probably! We burned 1/8 of a tank on a 30 mile test drive 😬
VERY cool!
Don’t sale the diesel bro. Lbz are super hard to find now days.
For real it took me 2 years to find that one. 85k miles and I'm the second owner. It's an LLY tho so not as valuable but still very hard to find.

Duuuude that 12v with a 6 speed is where it’s at! What heads and cam did you go with for the 454?
What gear do you have?
You mean camera gear? I shot this video with an iPhone, GoPro Hero 7 Black and Canon R6. I use the DJI Wireless mic for my audio.
