It is 100% the msd. Its made to run with only MSD products. Just buy stock everything if not going to run aftermarket from soup to nuts.

Might check what powers the coils. Simply replacing a coil and the truck starts might be just because of lower resistance of the newer coil but the real issue is probably timing. I want to know the answer so that's why I am back seat mechanic'ing.

I would be checking the tensioner and maybe even install a belt a 1/2 inch shorter on the van. Sounds like there's to much tension on the alternator. Sorry about the motor, that much work for nothing sucks. But nothing ventured nothing gained.

Get rid of that battery for a standard post style battery an add some bigger grounds. From the battery to both heads, to the frame an to the alternator housing. It should help the coils from blowing.

check the coil input voltage not all coils run on 12 volts they used to use a resistor inline to reduce voltage also check the coils rated input voltage make sure they match i had a rig with that exsact problem switched to a 12v coil and never had a problem again and i also run msd boxs

You do know the factory ignition system actually works, and the OEM plugs and gap settings also work.

Same with my '03 f350 w a 7.3. Just had the wiring harness cut into way too many times. New ecm, hp oil pump, injectors, on and on still had to have someone on standby all the time

Not to seem like a hater but my 2013 (gmt 900) could just as easily be could an old body style at this point. The gmt number is such a better way to identify these trucks.

Hey Buddy, please considering PPE whenever you spray, Just a little bit in your lungs will F@$^ you up and it's not worth it. I've seen to many lung and breathing issues due to lack of respiratory protection. Mechanic for 50 years.
