Good morning! When I saw what you posted, I was extremely happy. I just wanted to make a small correction. Tee Tot, an older black man, taught Hank Sr. how to play. Sr. taught Jr. how much he felt for the man, and Hank wrote a beautiful tribute to both men. Robert Johnson was an incredibly talented musician, and many people wouldn't have been able to achieve their success without him. It's worth noting that none of them gave up a soul for it, either. Excellent reaction; I enjoyed it so much I had to go back for a second listen!
Thank you guys for reacting to this. I knew Keith would like the playing in it. You can't go wrong with any Hank Jr. Reaction to the Blues Man, Mr Weatherman, All in Alabama which is a song about the reflection of the time Hank Jr. fell 500 feet off the side of Ajex mountain.
Didn’t catch the name of the briber but, whoever it is, thank you. I had never heard this tune before, but now it is my favorite Bocephus song ever. Ever.
Great song by Hank Jr.I've never heard this song by him.Definitely showed off his playing skills.Ballard of Curtis Loew is a very underrated song by them.Cody Johnson does a very dang good cover of that song in his Campfire Session series that CMT has
Really cool song! The guitar was amazing! I love that kind of guitar sound. Some of those places where it was a very dissonant sound and resolved gave me goosebumps!
@@davidjennings1771 lol, I hadn't even noticed it was a Resonator! I'm on my phone so it's kinda hard to see! There were a few points in the song that reminded me of another song I had relatively recently. "Humbird - Kansas City, MO." I like the Live On Pony Rug version personally. I've been better, I've been worse. Just coming off a 4 day Migraine, so I'm glad to be able to see out of both eyes mostly normally again!
I have the Robert Johnson box set. I bought it when Robert Plant said he wouldn't talk to a musician who didn't know who Robert Johnson was. Zeppelins Lemon song was a cover of one of Johnsons songs, sort of. It was amazing how Johnson played his own base line along with the main motif.
You got the right one Keith but there was another 20 seconds or so left when you stopped it. If you had done the Almeria album version there was a lot more information to be heard. Bocephus was being interviewed and he tells the story about the Last Pork chop song, It's funny. That guitar as most folks call it is a dobro. It doesn't play like a regular guitar, it's louder an It's open G as opposed to E. They are used in blues & country, think about Keith Richards playing his five-string tuning. You & Dustin did a good job reacting as you often do. Sorry about the wheat bourbon, it came highly recommended for $17.95 at Total Wine & More. I never heard of it, but I recall you saying you liked wheat & rye bourbon. I miss getting a buzz on, but I don't trust me with that pleasure! Thanks again, Hank doesn't stick to straight country I know. Amelas One .,..
Got a bourbon question...I was talking to a bartender about cheap bourbon. He said if you mix like 1/4 good bourbon with 3/4 cheap it'll make everything better. Mixing bourbon seems blasphemous haha. Am I wrong??
Most early Country artist stated at one point or another that they had an early influence from some local blues artists that took them under their wings & showed them how to play. I highly recommend the Ken Burns documentary Country Music. It goes into detail of how African Americans have been influencing country music from the beginning. The connections are astonishing. From the fact that the banjo was an instrument brought to America by slaves to the local blues artists that influenced Jimmy Rodgers, Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Johnny Cash and more. To Charlie Pride becoming friends with Faron Young even after he used a racial slur right to his face.
Ken Burns did many different 10 CD documentaries and on many subjects. I've watched the Country series and like you said, it's really an eye opener on the beginning of America's music and those connections. Music is the universal language & I'd recommend any of Ken Burns works. Page turners for sure!
He was a Street Blues Singer,Hank Williams Sr, idol as a child who taught him to play the blues

That was awesome! A new one for me.
Just a note Hirim is Hank’s first name.
The Ballad of Curtis Loew was on Second Helping album, That was released before "The Plane Crash"
Nice video. I highly recommend “I remember you” by skid row. Awesome vocals and instrumentation!

The Toronto Subway musicians are another example of great street musicians (they have to audition for a space)..

The guitar is a resonator type guitar. The metal plate makes the sound louder Nick. How are you feeling?

It's what confused people, thinking there were two guitars. - Keith
