- Last week, after 3 attempts at recording a video, it just wasn't happening for me, so I decided to take a break, but this week, I got my Mojo back, in fact, I found it at a record show, along with some great albums by the likes of The Spencer Davis Group, Cactus, The Doors, Bohemian Vendetta and a whole lot more. The intro is Climbing A High Wall by Link Wray.
Atomic Rooster, one of my favorite bands, why I really couldn't tell you, just because I guess! That Cactus record rocks. Ginger Baker's Air Force...had it on 8 track in my first car...learned all about replacing speakers. Bought that Kingsmen record when it came out, still have it with a 1.99 sticker. Thanks Michael, good video.
Atomic Rooster is one of your favorite bands because THEY ROCK!!! Thanks for commenting Ralph, have a good one.
Nice pickups Michael . Been chasing Cactus for awhile too . All the early Uriah Heep are great ! I just found that Santana myself two weeks ago at a record fair .Thanks for posting . Cheers mate
Hi Craig, I was really happy to find that Cactus album, great hard rock. Yes, I agree, Uriah Heep's early stuff is their best, After The Magician's Birthday, I started to lose interest in them. Santana is awesome. Thanks for tuning in Craig and take care.
Hey Michael!
Love Link Wray have a Robert Gordon record that has Link on guitar need more of his stuff . Never heard of Spudlok. Cool Cactus 🌵 pickup also Bohemian Vendetta! Nice Ginger Baker Army I picked up both of those albums from the same seller a while back cool jazz rock jams. Found that Kingsmen record at a garage sale for $0.50 back in May
That Santana record is one of their best imo. Cool Index record man they loved the reverb
Take care Brian ☮️✌️🤘🏻🔥
I'm still looking for the first G.B.'s Airforce album, incredible stuff. I'm really digging the Bohemian Vendetta LP, great psych album. I need to get that Robert Gordon album. Thanks for commenting, Brian take care.
Great video with all kinds of genres , going to check out that Cactus album . A lot of people in the vc are showing that . Just ordered The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East
Cant hardly wait to get it ! . Well thanks again Michael , till next time
Definitely check out the Cactus album, it rocks. Cool you ordered the Allman Brothers, it's a great album. Thanks for tuning in, and take care.
Dude that Link Wray was slammin! WOW! That guitar was crazy! I must find that! I dig that Atomic Rooster and the cover is really groovy too! Man I haven’t been to the Record Show in a spell. I haven’t been able to get out as much. It’s fun to run into fellow VC peeps at a show or shop. There’s a ton of us around St Lou so we cross paths frequently. I’ve always thought that Spencer Davis cover was rad! And they’re badass too! Man Stevie Winwood had a helluva career didn’t he? I have a copy of Cactus buts it’s a little rough but ai couldn’t find a decent copy. I’ve been after that Bohemian Vendetta for awhile I passed on it awhile ago which was stupid.i love Terry Brooks Strange-Raw Power and the vocals sounded like Ty Segall. I’d like to find the one you showed too. Great stuff Michael! ⚡️🖖👽⚡️
Link Wray actually had a song called Rumble, that got banned from the radio because they thought it would incite hoodlums to get into street fights, and it was an instrumental! Atomic Rooster was an upgrade for me, my other copy was a white label promo, but the vinyl was trashed. Haven't been to a record show in about 10 years, so I was glad to finally get to one. Meeting Bill from Bill's Box of Sound was cool, he's a nice guy and he gave me his album.by his band, Spudlok. Yeah, that SDG album really stands out, first time I've seen that in the wild. Steve Winwood was only 16 when he was in that group, amazing! Cactus was on my list for a long time, so glad to finally snag that. I like the Bohemian Vendetta better than I thought I would, cool cover too. I like that Strange album better than the other one, his vocals are toned down a bit on this one. Thanks for commenting Brian, hope you're doing good my friend.
Some great finds this month Michael. That Link Wray sounded killer I'll have to try & find a copy. Cactus such an awesome (but overlooked) band one of my all time favorite groups.
Link Wray should be easy to find, if not the album I showed, but there's a lot of comps and reissues out there. Thanks for tuning in.
Hey Michael, nice vinyl finds for July. Cool record show pick ups! Cool that you met up with Bill’s box of sound. Super great guy! That Cactus album I just picked up recently as well. Interesting psych stuff you showed. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
Oh man, I must have overlooked your comment Steve, sorry. Yes, it was pretty cool to meet up with Bill, and so nice of him to give me a copy of his album, which is a really fun listen. The Cactus album stayed on my turntable for a month, great album. Thanks for tuning in and commenting and again, sorry for the late response.
@ Michael, no big deal on the late response. I never get upset because someone doesn’t respond to a comment. We all have a lot going on. I have missed a comment more than once. I wish I watched more and commented to more videos. Peace ☮️
I have the recently released Cactus album called Temple of Blues. It features Carmine playing Cactus songs with lots of old rock stars. Main reason I got it is because Warren Haynes is featured on a song (No Need To Worry) but the whole album is good. Very cool that Bill@boxofsound recorded a record and shared one with you. Great album cover for Bohemian Vendetta. I have a Strange album (Translucent World, the one with the vocals you didn't like. They are different for sure.) I have a live Ginger Baker's Air Force record. I think I'd rather have the studio album you showed, but it's not easy to find. I'm a big Baker/Gurvitz fan....Gurvitz brothers in general. George Harrison don't get no respect. Seems like July was a great month; thanks for showing the records!
Didn't know about the Temple of Blues LP, I'll have to check that one out. It was nice to finally meet someone from the VC in person, the recordings he made were from his younger days, it's a fun listen. I do like the Strange album I showed better than the first. I'm looking for the first Airforce album, really liked the one I showed. The Gurvitz brothers are awesome, first Gun, then Baker Gurvitz Army, I think they were also in a band called 3 Man Army. They do give George Harrison credit on the label of the Bit A Sweet album, just misprinted the cover. Thanks for commenting Randy, take care.
Hello Micheal if he's from Cleveland I wonder if he watched "Hullahan and Big Chuck" and "Super Host". nice Spencer Davis pickup, That album is hard to find in the wild. Didn't know there was a follow-up to Baker's Aeroforce. Strange Days is my least favorite Doors album but it's still great. That might be the best Uriah Heep album. Have a great weekend.
I would say more than likely, he did watch Hoolihan and Big Chuck and Superhost, and probably Barnaby and Woodrow the Woodsman too! I've never seen that Spencer Davis album in the wild before, so glad to have found that. I was hoping to find the first Baker's Air Force, but no one had it. I kind of like Strange Days a little more than the first Doors album, but they are both great albums, I've never had a copy with the original inner sleeve. Thanks for your comments Dave.
Very nice that Link Wray music! I only know him from name. Atomic Rooster a good band. Carl Palmer was the drummer of Atomic Rooster. He would form with Keith Emerson and Greg Lake Emerson Lake And Palmer. That 2nd Doors album is on my wish list! That Uriah Heep I pickrd it up this year, nice sleeve and music! Santana is very good music! Do you know that John Mayall died recently? A big loss! greerz and power to you Michael my friend! Jason
Hi Jason, Link Wray was a legendary guitarist from the late 50s to early 60s who was a big influence on Poison Ivey, the guitarist for the Cramps. Keith Emerson was also in the Nice before he was in ELP. I heard about John Mayall and I'll show some of his records in my next video. Thanks for tuning in Jason, take care.

Nice to see you back Michael 👍Great finds at the record fair! Unfortunately here in the UK record fairs are quite poor old battered albums trying to be sold for silly money! And if you aren't a fan of Taylor Swift then you are doomed! 😆 love the pics Spencer Davis Ginger Baker! I agree about first pressings! The Doors Strange days is my favourite album by them! Other stuff I will check out! Keep it going Michael! 👍
Haven't been to a record fair in a long time, so it was nice to finally get to go to one. Prices ranged from outrageously high, to reasonably priced, and I didn't see one Taylor Swift album! Spencer Davis was probably my favorite find, an original press Strange Days was on my list and the first thing I found at the record show. Thanks for tuning in Ian, hope you're doing well.
Cactus 🌵 is cool…. Son of Cactus not as cool
Hi Dean, well, that's good to know! I really like their first album and was thinking of picking up more, so thanks for the tip!🙃👍
@@nearwildheaven4840 second album is excellent as well- yellow jacket, third is so-so, after that they lose members and not so great
Nice to see you back on. Missed you last week, I thought maybe you had a cold. I had one for three weeks.🤧 After watching your whole video, I'd say you took in some nice acquisition's. Bit A Sweet Is on my radar. ( Wonder if they got their name from Bit O Honey candy? ) I think the writing credit for "If I Needed Someone" is correct on the label. So, I doubt John and Paul received George's royalties. LOL Happy to see you get that Index album. It was way better than I thought it would be. ✴🟢✴🟡✴🟣✴ Enjoy the vinyl rotations!!
Hi Ron, no, didn't have a cold, just couldn't get into the video I was trying to make, so I took a break. I was very happy with the Bit A Sweet LP, lots of nice harmonies. I checked the label and you're right, George got the credit on If I Needed Someone. The Index album makes for a nice companion LP to their other one I have, great stuff. Thanks for your comment Ron, always appreciated.
