We desperately need this Quality of dedication and lyrics that are beautiful and uplifting. My Lord how come our world 🌍 has so much impotence for respect and promotes unkind lyrics that destroys the human spirit?
Today makes 17 months my amazing Husband went Home To Be With The LORD and this song just came to me I don't understand how but with tears in my eyes it's exactly how I feel! Beautiful song.
I dedicate this song to Acie Ganter..the love of my life..I miss you like care..I met this man in 1971..we had a son Derrick...who he never met..still love you and always will..
No BS. When I hear the way those different voices put this song down every time is like the first time all over again. It's not a game with these brothers. Absolute genius!!!!
@@dianeclay7368 actually they only hate us when they dont get what they want.......little do they know but everytime they wanna be a JOKER and play too much........nobody wants to put up wit that shit anymore. The Words to This Song are so Strong, Meaningful, and Heartbreaking at the same time, Every line that Marvin jr. sing is incredibly sang with passion, What a song.
I know everyone talks about Marvin and Jc, but The Dells were a master class for any group needing to know how to sing backgrounds. It is called “background” for a reason. The background singers sit in unison and sound as one. Tone same, volume the same, movements in riffs the same, and harmonies tight!!!!
You are so right, they remind me of the first group of Temps. You knew their voices separately but when blended together they made a beautiful, youthful sound and they sounded that way until the end. Sorry for taking up so much of your post but this is my favorite group and always will be ❤😊
I've never been a groupie type, but had I been born around their time, Marvin Junior probably would need a restraining order. That voice was EVERYTHING!!!!
Well Deserved the Dells made poetry infused with passion intertwined upon a respectfully laced vision cemented by softness. The Dells lyrics, mannerisms, and gestures never were ever mean spirited or unkind toward their audience, females, or not. Thankfully this group always gave their very best while Entertaining and teaching Respect for generations to come and into infinity ♾️ Much love for these Professionals and their imprint of truly setting the standards we need to embrace for our Loving Lives! 😊😅🎉🎉😂❤❤❤
The smoothness of JC's falsetto combined with the power of MJ's vocals just set's the Dells apart from the other groups of the era. Blue lights in the basement baby
These voices can bring tears to your eyes. Masterpieces of voice control and deep heart felt feelings. Thank God they were came my way n I had the opportunity to hear them
As I listen to this group, I have to remember to breathe because Marvin and Junior literally take my breath away. Their Voices are another Realm. I believe we will never here a sound like this again.
Marvin Jr. will be missed. As long as I have the Albums on Vinyl I'll always remember how their voices made me feel and I still feel good no matter what I'm going through. They can be smooth and strong!! I'm in love again. Always.
One of the greatest voices of any generation is not even mentioned in the annals of the greats, in the hierarchy of singers. His voice levitates you to a place in the English language, too poor to describe. Now is the time to rise up and gave brother Marvin Junior his due. This brother never stopped being great, we stopped being grateful. It is raining outside, and we are crying inside, because we fail to capture the magic of this unapologetic gifted voice. Trumpets should be blaring...let the cannons fire. Let the balloons fly. Let the bird of truth reside. Let the Heaven fall from the sky. Just keeping singing Brother Marvin in that heavenly choir.
I fell in love with this ballad in sixty seven, at ten years old, the beautiful lyrics has resonated in my heart for 55 years, I love this compilation now more than ever before, The Dells sung the heck out of this song!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely outstanding group, Johnny's voice so silky sweet and smooth, Marvin's voice set the songs off his strong, soulful baritone touch/the backup brothers harmonized, incorporated a wonderful blend!!!!!! The Dells will remain one of the best vocalist ever, thanks for the share!!!!!!!!
Ashli Yett .....The male singers these days are pretty pathetic. They spend their time singing about stacks of money, tire rims, sneakers and video games. The Dells lead singer Marvin Junior (the big guy) loved women, and it is reflected in the lyrics of some of the songs he either wrote or co-wrote for the group, songs like "I touched a dream" and "Give your baby a standing ovation"are his tribute to women. For some reason we just don't see that in today's music, they are too busy calling women bit**s and h**s. Before he died Marvin told a magazine interviewer that women were God's greatest creation. That was a "real" man.May he rest in peace.
@@kellymccain3403 I completely agree.. Give your lady a standing ovation is my mother and I favorite songs..to heat this kind of music on the radio now would be a game changer

They use to call Marvin Junior "Iron Throat". His voice was so powerful. When ever I hear Teddy P or David Ruffin; I think of Marvin Junior. To me he is King of the Powerful Voice Men.
I remember this record…I thought it was the most beautiful song I’d ever heard. My friends were all into rock bands, but as for me, I loved all of these soul songs. So deep and with such emotion!
Thanks. Shelia j for letting me know you saw my comment on your good taste the Dell's are worth listening to music don't make groups like that anymore they was ture entertainers.
They made love to the mics back then. “That ole lonesome feeling, took me by surprise!” Oh how I remember that feeling, the first time I felt it. I’ll never forget the pain it brings, and I don’t ever want to feel it again.
Not really, but maybe, because I am from Chicago and heard all of their records, as soon as they were released. I lived close to their hometown, Harvey. They were honored by the Chicago City Council, one time. It was on radio, TV, and written about in the newspapers. That is one time all the alderman got alone, and they ALL talked about how they loved the dells.
