Heatwave - Always And Forever

- Опубліковано 11 лис 2018
- Heatwave was an international funk/disco band formed in 1975. Its most popular line-up featured Americans Johnnie Wilder Jr. and Keith Wilder (vocals) of Dayton, Ohio; Englishman Rod Temperton (keyboards); Swiss Mario Mantese (bass); Czechoslovak Ernest "Bilbo" Berger (drums); Jamaican Eric Johns (guitar); and Briton Roy Carter (guitar).
They were known for their singles "Boogie Nights", "The Groove Line", and "Always and Forever".
Can we take a moment to respect the fact that the people playing the instruments are also apart of the back up singers 🔥🔥🤲🏾.
For Sure!! Such a beautiful song!
Thank you ❤
Hi I’m josslene wilder, Keith’s granddaughter. I watch this all the time and it was great to see what he was like when he sung at a young age. Thank you for posting this although I am young I still love heatwaves music and this is my favorite song they have to this day💗💗
Your grandfather and his band made a lot of people happy then and still do to this day with their wonderful music. I was 11 years old in 1978 when this song came out and remember the first time I heard it and where i was. Great songs are a time machine and this one always takes me back to my youth and first love. May you be blessed as your grandfather was and how many millions he blessed with their timeless songs like this! All the best to you, young lady
You should be very proud. They both were such magically incredible performers that worked harder in one show then most people do in a lifetime and had fun doin it. A true joy to watch and listen to.
Respect! ❤
They made history with that song. God bless you and your family!
Wow
Bro was SINGING. THIS is music!!!
and magical
If you didn't get chills, check your pulse. A total masterpiece.
I definitely did the first time I found this video and nothing's changed !!.
Adhere, agree!
AMEN TO THAT 🤗 👏👏💗💗💗
❤🎉
Love it
The control in his falsetto was out of this world
Dude was on point before on point was a thing
Yes! He had talent! No need for auto tune! ♥️💕
The real deal!!!
His aura is out of this world. He seems to transcend the earthly experience.
And always my number ONE slowJam!
Rod Temperton is one of the greatest song writes of all time. He wrote a lot of Michael Jacksons early hits.
Temperton wrote "Off The Wall", "Rock With You" and "Thriller"; he also wrote "Give Me The Night" for George Benson and "Stomp" for the Brothers Johnson.
@@sylviamaua745 That's racist white people can't write soul songs, you have been banned from everything and cancelled.
@@sylviamaua745 He also wrote The Lady in My Life.
Rod Temperton made Michael famous.
@@elforeigner3260 He was already famous.
Johnnie's accident was tragic, but the remainder of his life was NOT A TRAGEDY. He wouldn't allow it to be. He never lost that beautiful voice; he continued to sing, write and record - including for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; he taught and guided young people; he produced music in the studio for other people; he never lost that megawatt smile and positive outlook; and he encouraged others that they too could make it after a similar setback, including Teddy Pendergrass who turned to Johnnie at his lowest moment - and they became good friends. Johnnie lived an additional 27 years after his injury and was a BLESSING to many. He literally ran his race and WON!
Main man (Johnnie Wilder Jr) sang the vinyl completely off this song. Perfect in every way...perfect tone, perfect pitch, perfect delivery. Just absolutely kilt it. At this stage he had fully matured as a artist into the song. He went all natural and raw on this song; no frills, no glitter, no processed hair...just pure talent and sang the hell out of it. Love, Love, Love this performance.
Two thumbs up.
3 thumbs Up🔥🔥🔥
Wow!! I remember this song!
So sad he went out because of a red light runner and hit the car he was riding in
@@califdad4 Yeap, he did a few more projects even after the accident, from his wheelchair. But quite naturally he never fully returned to the pre-accident form (would have been impossible for any human being to do). Still was good but of course not on the same level. I really miss the guy. What a talent.
He deserves his flowers and love RIGHT NOW! My goodness his voice is silkier than silk 🥹😘
It’s very rare to find a live performance that rivals the recording. This performance is par excellence by Heatwave!
No lie. They didn't like to do lip synced performances. The preferred live.

Simply the greatest love song ever. Johnnie Wilder was in a league of his own, astounding range and falsetto - and still no contenders all these years later. Mr Temperton and Mr Wilder - I salute you both 💔

Phillip Bailey from EW&F came pretty close, but you're right.
This song was popular at weddings in 1978. The bride and groom's first dance. Treasured memories of a special day.
This was my wedding song in 1986! Timeless.
My cousin’s engagement party first dance in 1984.

Johnny knocked this song out the ball park. It seems like this song was made for him. They don't make e'm like this anymore. One of the most beautiful ballads of all time. Hands Down in my top ten. Johnny looking down and smiling on this video. The brother had a beautiful voice with out a doubt.
His live is better than the recording, he was an absolutely expectional vocalist
What a tragedy that auto accident rests in paradise, Mr. Wilder
I’m friends with his daughter. She is very nice.
I know it makes me want to cry just so beautiful
How old was he here 21?
I don’t think ppl realize the sheer amount of awe and talent these men have. I’m mean Rod wrote Thriller and endless songs of such beauty.
Not enough room for the applause needed hear. I hope generations will love this forever.

The last song I heard my 93 yr old dad sing on beat, all the way through, a week before he passed away over 15 yrs ago......RIP dad.

And this live version is unbelievable
It's incredible just majestic
I’m ❤❤trying to say good 👍
That organ player, Rod Temperton, was an absolute songwriting genius.
RIP to Rod Temperton, the legend on the organ. That genius was also responsible for many of the hit songs on Thriller. I never understood how a bloke from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, could write and arrange some of the most soulful music ever.
Wow I didn't know that! I'm from Cleethorpes!
@@misslou252 - so can we expect some hit songs from you?
Lol I've lived in London for most if my life now! I'm going to learn about him.. he wrote for so many people didn't he ?
@@misslou252 - yes he certainly wrote and arranged for many great soul music artists of the 70s and 80s. As a person who was around when this music was first aired, we always admired but were perplexed by Rod Temperton. So am I to assume that Cleesthorpe isn't a hot bed of soul music like Detroit was in the 60s?

This was the song I danced to with my girlfriend, at my senior prom. Kim O’Connell, blonde hair and blue eyes. That was 44 years ago, but I still remember the butterflies I had holding her hand and walking to the dance floor. I was petrified of dancing, but for her, I did it anyway. After graduation, I joined the Army, I never saw her again. Great memories
Our senior prom theme song. 1979.

*Brings tears of joy to my eyes every time I hear angelic Mr Johnnie sing this, couldn't be no more beautiful, lovely AND extraordinary!!! Rest in eternal peace to all the members that have passed of one of THE GREATEST BANDS OF OUR TIME but also... to my one true love, the love of my entire lifetime, my twin soul and my husband-in-Spirit Mark E. Bailey (4/26/73 - 7/1/03). "Rest peacefully until we love again..."*
By the way, my mama is getting up in age and I'm gonna sing this to her for her birthday (November 18) before I might not get the chance for her physical ears to hear me sing this to her... I can sing the original version perfectly but this version is simply unsingable in my eyes unless you listen to it a trillion times and memorize it, I might attempt to wing it but it's improvised, I don't think I'll ever be able to sing this live version in Mr Johhnie's very own unique way! Johnny Wilder was such an underrated singer as evident in Heatwave's first two albums where he sang all the vocals demonstrating his wide vocal range. They'll never be another like him.
I hate when people say this. Underrated by who? Who on this planet would deny his talent?
@@pamela2320 I don't care what you hate. Have a nice day.

PAMELA is correct. A band that scored hit after hit after hit is NOT underrated. They were at the top of the charts & highly rated in popularity
.
@@electrictroy2010 Don't you fools ever read before you reply(It's a rhetorical question)? I said Johnnie was an underrated singer and not about the group Heatwave as a whole. Pay attention next time.

It was a privilege and pleasure to have worked with John and Keith
Rod Temperton was the keyboardist and main songwriter for Heatwave, writing songs including "Star of a Story", "Always and Forever", "Boogie Nights", and "The Groove Line". After he was recruited by record producer Quincy Jones, he wrote several successful singles for Michael Jackson, including "Thriller", "Off the Wall", and "Rock with You". He also wrote songs for George Benson, including "Give Me the Night" and "Love X Love", along with Patti Austin and James Ingram's United States number-one single "Baby, Come to Me", among many others.
Temperton wrote the soundtrack for the 1986 film Running Scared and won a Grammy Award in 1990 for his work on Birdland, from Quincy Jones's album Back on the Block.
Wow, I didn’t realize how powerful this man was.. thanks for shedding some insight. What a badass.
