- I went to Paris Games Week 2023 to try out the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 demo and meet with the GSC Game World developers. Here is the audio interview that resulted.
He saw the opportunity and he took it. A true legend!

hello from ukraine. i learned about you from the Messer channel (the guy who made the stalker iceberg video) and since then i've been enjoying your content. i was so surprised to see your name and interview mentioned all over the place, because you have a relatively small audience and damn, i feel so proud of you man. great interview, great questions. now i feel even more hyped for the game

I was thinking of a question; Are the devs aware of the different mods for their games (ANOMALY/GAMMA)? what do they think? Do they perpetuate ideas in some of these mods? That would be a cool question to ask I think.
I remember this question being asked in the Discord #ask-gsc before it was removed. The dev that responded wrote that they are not really fond of these mods because they can be played without having the original games.

@@LeVraiFlorensac je suis un peu en retard, mais les dév ont dit que le jeu pourra etre modée assez facilement (peut-etre même avec des SDK et tout) donc de ce coté la pas de problème !
Concernant GAMMA et Anomaly en effet, les devs ont l'air d'avoir un peu de mal avec ça, mais ultimement je pense qu'ils s'en fichent dans le fond, le principal c'est que chaque joueur trouve son compte, peu importe si ça passe par des modpack ou par les jeux originaux !

Do we know how big the game is? Like the size of the map? Have they said its 2x or 3x the size of some former map? Or is it like the size of anomaly and how they stitched it all together? They really seem to be implying that its significantly bigger than previous games it seems
Yes, the map will be around 64 km² which is approximately 6 times bigger than all the previous games combined.

Given how much was cut from Shadow of Chernobyl and how long it took to release, Stalker 2 is simply being faithful to the franchise identity by being delayed several times.
What is a "transfer system"? Dev mentions that S2 will not have one. Is he referring to fast-travel?

It always disturbs me that/when devs and market team employees are always so cagey.
(I know the reason why they do it is to not impact potential sales, since the majority of the time the game is never worth it, is overhyped by fanboys, industry shills, and encouraged by the publisher/devs to increase sales.)
A handful of these answers from them were interesting/not known before information; but judging from things like the terrible DLC practices that are already known about Stalker 2, and the many commonplace despicable examples of game devs/publishers hiding the poor quality of their game from players before release, I'm always on guard for scummy business practices in the video game industry.
Do you think they know they are speaking with the anomalous Dugout?

I waited in line to play this game in Poland for almost 5 hours. I love stalker to death but not gonna lie it wasnt worth it. Also too many "modern additions" for my taste
This game will be more about scripted cutscenes telling characters story then what shoc was about. First one had only writing dialogues basically and was all about the "zone", random encounters with mobs and AI being smart. I expect this game to be metro exodus like.

American voice actors is the final straw for me. I am no longer hyped for this game they clearly dumbed it down for western audiences and ruined what made Stalkers special in the first place.. Slav magic.

Hopefully atleast the engine will only Work if you got enough Wodka in your blood that an Elephant would die. I love the good old XRay Engine This is True Slav Magic ^^

Really interesting! I'm glad he mentioned Dark Souls as a reference because I really expect a challenging experience, and hope the game is not crafted towards a more casual audience with hand holding. I think it would've been also interesting if to ask if they took any inspiration from popular mods like Anomaly/Gamma

Great interview, I understand they don't have many things to say right now, we just have to wait, but even then we learned some interesting things for the world, A-Life and artifacts.
The fact that A-Life won't behave way too often but more discreetly I think is what makes it more real, being everywhere and doing everything would look intentionally and fake.
I would prefer the world to be in pieces like in the first game, but even in an open area they can make locations look unique and with their own Identity, like in the first game.

They talked briefly about different seasons in Chornobyl when visiting to do photo scans. Are they alluding to different seasons in game perhaps? That would be awesome

Great interview, in case you don't know it, your english is fantastic. You speak more eloquently than the English and Americans.
Grammar wise he's flawless, maybe a bit too formal sometimes but sometimes he kinda messes up pronunciation and you cant understand shit
@@erixccjc2143 proper pronunciation can be one of the hardest parts of learning another language. For some it comes naturally but for others it's a struggle. I still am amazed at his level of English, he speaks better than immigrants who've lived in the US for 20 years.
I don't know, I think it can still be improved but I do what I can.

Pretty sure the SSD being a requirement shouldn't be a thing. HDD that aren't ancient are more then fast enough to load things like DCS (which is exponentially more demending then anything they can come up with) seamlessly. Looks like optimization is being overlooked and relying on the pc to do the work, cyberpunk 2077 style. Can't be a stalker game if it isn't buggy af right?😂

Thank you for this interview. For me it was enjoyable until he started saying that Russians would like the game to be unsuccessful. This was a regrettable and misguided silly statement, the Russian community and passion for Stalker is huge. Politics should not be part of their game promotion.

You should have found a quiet place with sound proofing for this interview, I couldn't sit through that sound quality. Would of been better if there was video footage of the interview too.
